dies alone with 72 cats

Asos jumper
Jeffrey Campbell boots c/o Sarenza
I love this skirt and yet always fail to capture it’s beautiful deep green colour (someone give me camera lessons, PLEASE), it was such a good buy at £13.99 and fits like a dream; nice one Missguided! I’m teaching myself to be able to wear heels again too by wearing them around the house; starting small with these Jeffrey Campbell boots and it wasn’t entirely a horrific experience. Slow and steady wins the race.
Yesterday was supposedly “Blue Monday” or the most depressing day of the year. I have to say it was one of the more cheerful Mondays I’ve had and knowing I was “meant” to be sad made me feel like I was sticking two fingers up at someone, somewhere. I feel like I’ve turned a corner from how sad I was last week, it may not be over yet but winter will not get the better of me.
I’m hoping to go on a little mission after work today- I do love doing half day shifts! I’ve fallen in love with a jumper dress by G21 at Asda and my most local store didn’t have it in stock, I’ve sweet talked best friend in to taking me further afield…really it could and should wait until payday but patience isn’t my strong point. I’ll report back.
How was your Monday?

breaking tradition

Asda George sequin collar jumper
Ebay vintage skirt
Sarenza supplied studded boots (yay studs!)

Is it only men who go nude under kilts? I certainly broke that tradition if it applies to women by wearing thermals and tights…SO cold! I love this skirt, I should wear it more. It’s so thick and warm, if a little bulky, I feel about half a stone wider the second I put it on (don’t we all have an item of clothing like that?!)

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty damn wonderful, I managed to get out despite the icy ground and it did me a massive favour as I was able to finally ditch the crutches. I feel so FREE! I’ll never again take for granted being able to carry a basket around the supermarket or pay for a purchase. The only downside is I can’t “accidentally” hit people who get in my way, but that’s a small price to pay.
I really feel 2013 is going ot be a good year for me. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this happy or content with my life, certainly not in the last ten years when my battle with anorexia started. I’m proud to say that it’s coming to an end and this time it will be final. I have so many plans and dreams, I’m not wasting any more time.
Sorry, I got a bit heavy there. I do tend to share more of my life than most people; I guess because I’ve had to talk about it so much, and I’m not ashamed of what I’ve been through…maybe, just maybe it might give hope to others too? I don’t know, either way I don’t feel a need to censor myself.
Happy Monday!

Sarenza Sunday- tell me about it, stud

Love Moschino studded heart, £128.50 (only tiny sizes left!)

Jeffrey Campbell Kravitz, £239.20

Steve Madden Studly, £64

Jeffrey Campbell Mattie 2, £94.50

I know the love of studs has been around forever in blog land but I’m a bit of a late starter in really enjoying it. Before Christmas I was quite “take it or leave it” but since then I’ve become attracted to all things studded and vaguely dangerous looking.
Sarenza have a brilliant selection of studded shoes and boots available- what I’ve shown above is just a small selection; check out more flats from Steve Madden, crazy creations from Jeffrey Campbell and some sweet little Love Moschino bags if you still need more.
I’d wear any of these shoes and now my foot is on the mend I feel like going mad and buying several new pairs! In the interest of being safe and weather proof if I was forced to pick just one pair it would be the Jeffrey Campbell Mattie 2 with it’s subtle studding and supportive lace up style….if I was allowed total free reign though I’d add in the fierce Kravitz boot- I can’t quite work out whether I think it’s a gorgeous shoe of perfection or really quite ugly, but either way, I want it!

If you fancy any of these but just don’t have the funds then why not enter Sarenza’s Pin to Win competition for the chance to win £100 to spend on the site? Details below:

Did you know that sarenza.co.uk has a Pinterest page? To celebrate our expansion into the social media world in conjunction with our winter sale, we’re giving you the chance to win a £100 voucher to spend on shoes!
Here’s how to enter:
1. Follow Sarenza UK on Pinterest.
2. Create a Pinterest board with your favourite items from the Sarenza winter sale. You can call it anything you want…the more creative, the better!
3. E-mail a link to your board to jcheek@sarenza.com.

The contest will run from Thursday, January 17th until midnight on Sunday, January 27th. The winner will be judged on his/her board’s creativity and style, as well as on his or her engagement with the entry requirements. We’ll decide the winner on Monday, January 28th. Be sure to check out the terms and conditions here. Good luck!

Let me know if you enter (I will be) as I want to see your boards too! (my pintrest)

Are you in to the stud trend? What’s your favourite way to wear it? I’m always worried I’ll injure myself on studded clothing, I’m so awkward I’m bound to gouge an eye out with even the flattest embellishment. I think I’ll stick to feet…

Snow Day "chic"

Cat Print Tunic: New Look
Leggings/trousers: Primark
Slipper socks: Gift
So, like the rest of the UK we woke up to a coating of the white stuff yesterday; actually, when I woke up at 5am we had none but by 7 we had quite a thick layer and the chaos started.
I’m proud to say I refused the chance of a whole day off work and made it in for the morning thanks for my dedicated Mum who braved her hatred of driving in such conditions. It was a most odd morning- none of the GPs were able to get to our surgery so we had to send patients to our other site, we had a nurse, a HCA and five reception staff…power to the admin people?
I was allowed to leave at lunch time as I really wasn’t needed and we weren’t sure how easy it’d be to get me home by the evening (snow and crutches anyone?) so I indulged in a lazy afternoon slouching around in the kind of clothes I usually reserve for sick days and enjoying it greatly. As soon as I saw this cat print tunic I needed it, it’s not really my style but it has cats on and is warm which was good enough reason for me to purchase…I am easily swayed.
I spent a lot of the afternoon watching Mae sound her disgust at the snow coated garden, she went outside a couple of times but mostly stayed near windows growling and looking put out, she’d never seen snow before (I don’t think) and certainly hadn’t been outside in it and I think she was a bit confused; not hard to confuse this cat.
I think I finally have some good news on the foot front too, after an appointment last week left me with a probable diagnosis of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome my wonderful GP is starting me on some specific pain medication that should make it a lot more comfortable to walk and I am hoping that now we’re sure there is no serious injury I can ditch the crutches, the only thing keeping me on them is the pain on weight bearing so if that’s not there and I can re-educate my foot on correct posture this could be the turning point. I knew 2013 was going to be a positive year!

Well, happy weekend, got plans to play in the snow? I’m hoping it hasn’t turned in to an ice rink outside so I can get some fresh air safely at some point!

daisy chain dreaming: oh my love

Georgia Black Eyelash Lace Open Back Dress: £45

Alysha Black PU Straps Sweetheart Skater Dress: £45

Rita Black Crinkle Foil Cold Shoulder Dress: £39

Layla Black Embellished Neckline Racer Back Skater Dress: £39
All pictures from the Oh My Love facebook page
I appear to suffer from a style split personality- one day I’m all over floral and pastels, the next I’m craving an all black ensemble with straight cut lines. Today is one of the latter days and the cause of my desire is the new arrivals over at Oh My Love (who also have some rather fabulous and colourful pieces too). Topping my “I need it” list is the Rita dress- it’s black but not boring and at £39 I am sorely tempted to ignore the angel on my shoulder telling me to wait until payday and go ahead and buy it.

I’ve never shopped at Oh My Love before so I can’t vouch for the sizes or customer service; I’d be interested in hearing what you think. What I can tell you is that they are one to watch, there are some seriously stylish dresses to browse through alongside gorgeous blouses and perfect for this weather fluffy knits. I’m wishing I was back in my student days as I’d be able to bag a cool 20% discount (now I feel old, my student days are long gone…)

What’s on your wish list this week?
