Sarenza Sunday- Boutique Browsing

As a general rule I do try to keep my wish lists at least semi-obtainable but sometimes it’s nice to dream and that is exactly why this week my Sarenza Sunday is focused on their probably little known about boutique section stocking a gorgeous array of designer shoes that most of us can only dream of owning (but still covet regardless)

You’ll notice there isn’t a flat shoe in sight. I spent all of yesterday walking around in heeled boots and decided it worth celebrating. Of course the majority of my time will still be in flats but I am happily able to announce I can walk in something higher with no pain…no pain after five months, you have NO idea how good that feels!

First up are the Missoni Miranella boots, an object of beauty but strictly out of reach at £409 in the sale, eek! Seeming slightly more obtainable the Lina by Kenzo ankle boot costs £236.80 (sale price) and I really, really want this shoe for spring…gorgeous.
I’ve not heard of Michel Perry before, but whoever they are they create pretty shoes and I’m captivated by the perfect work shoe…meet Kavala– I will always have a soft spot for heeled brogues.
Last but by no means least; in fact this is a case of saving the best ’til last, meet my dream boot…Vahia by Vanessa Bruno costs an eye watering £414.60 (and that’s in the sale) but is everything I have ever wanted in a black ankle boot. I need to start remembering to play the lottery and not to browse the Sarenza boutique too often, it’s becoming dangerous!

Do you like to browse above your budget? I try not to think of it as depressing…it’s something to dream about and save for, I think buying something you have worked hard for, saved hard for and wished hard for is one of the most satisfying feelings ever.

daisy chain dreaming: prints perfect at Phase Eight

It’s been a fair few weeks since I last featured Phase Eight on the blog and I’ve returned with a mammoth wish list of all things printed. It may be a shop that six months ago I barely looked at but having upped their game (or increased their presence) recently I can’t help but covet- I am yet to decide if this is a good or bad thing, it’s not exactly budget friendly at between £80 and £90 for a dress but at the same time you are paying for quality and a dress/blouse/skirt that will never really date.

I’ve already featured the heart print dress before, should it ever go in to the sale and be available in my size I will take that as shopping karma and hastily purchase, for now it remains strictly wish list but I can sit and covet to my heart’s desire. Those of you who have Valentines plans would do well to purchase this (and send it on to me when you’re done!)

Recently I’ve found myself attracted to printed trousers too which is most odd as in general I don’t do trousers. Still, every girl has need for Paisley in her life right? And don’t get me started on the pale blue blouse…again, strictly not.me. and yet I can’t help but wish it was mine.

Has any of this caught your eye? I think Spring/Summer 2013 will be a season of prints and colour for me. With new found body confidence and happy go lucky approach to life I think it should show through what I wear; any excuse to shop right?

*not a sponsored post, I just love Phase Eight right now*

Jumper c/o Blue Inc
Cords: New Look
Boots from Sarenza
Bracelet c/o Rubys by Design
I’m kind of getting in to embracing more casual attire these days, it took me a while to come round to it but sometimes it’s called for and appreciated. I can’t even remember which day I wore this outfit, this week has all merged in to one long blur but it doesn’t matter (and it’s been a good week so I forgive it for being so indistinct)

How pretty is this bracelet? It was a gift to me from the lovely Jade, the girlfriend of someone I work with and I’m besotted with the colour scheme. Jade runs a jewellery making business called Rubys by Design and creates some super stunning pieces, I urge you to check it out. Now.

I can’t believe it is Friday, again. This time last week the world was one big ghost town after our deluge of snow and now the snow is melting (hurrah) and we’re at another weekend. It’s been a crazy week for me, so much progress in terms of walking and general progression, I feel like I’m on one big happiness high…so long January blues (and nearly so long January!)

How has your week been?

Bristol St

Top: A-wear many moons ago
Boots: Georgia Rose c/o Sarenza
(yes I am wearing tights, I’m not that mad)
As a blogger from somewhere that isn’t London or one of the other seemingly “bigger” cities it’s always a bonus to find a shop you loved based in the town you live. Bristol St Vintage is one of these (clue is in the name as to where they are based!) We’ve followed each other on twitter for a while now and when I expressed major love for this crushed velvet midi skirt and the wonderful Linda offered to send it to me I was more than happy to oblige and share my kept quiet for too long love of this shop.

As many of you won’t be aware of Bristol St I’m going to share a little bit of blurb from the website to help you out…

Vintage clothing has experienced a major up surge in popularity in recent years. But why?
Well, here at Bristol St Vintage we believe in the importance of vintage clothing as it is not only on trend
(as fashion trends run in cycles) but environmentally friendly (as it cuts out re-production). As we are
currently overloaded with ‘fast fashion‘, vintage is likely to become a staple in every person’s wardrobe.
Clothing produced before recent times, were produced to last longer than the ‘fast fashion’ that is made
and sold on the high street today. Therefore you will often find items that are 50-60 years old
 and still in impeccable condition.
We have been collecting pieces of  vintage clothing, accessories and home wares over the past few years
but had a major search over the past few months in the run up to the shop opening. We currently source
our items from charity shops, car boot sales, private sellers, ebay and suppliers but absolutely every item
has been hand-picked to fit the Bristol St Vintage Style.
The shop is primarily website based but you’ll find them pop up at local events such as the harbourside market (which I am shamefully yet to visit) among others. The online store sells everything from beautiful one of a kind dresses through to vintage gifts for the home at prices no-one could begrudge paying- so often is vintage jacked up in price that I walk away in disgust…so not the case with Linda!

To learn more, have a browse or make a purchase visit the website here, you can also like on facebook or follow on twitter to stay full up to date.

I am so in love with my skirt although apart from this slightly nautical look I’m currently struggling with styling it…I have a serious lack of tops in my wardrobe, I’m pretty sure that’s a sign telling me to buy something to go with it! What do you think of Bristol St and vintage in general? Expect to see more from Linda on the blog…

thinking warm thoughts

With grey skies and snow falling it seems an odd time to be thinking about what we’ll be wearing in Spring and Summer. Fashion works like that though, always a season ahead and it can be quite hard to get your head round (if your me, at least!)

Still, when the S/S13 Apricot look book dropped through my door I couldn’t help but take a look and start mentally compiling a wish list for when the temperature finally rises in to double figures. Embracing trends from Sixties Monochrome through to “Soft Grunge” and the ever present florals (oh, and a few other key styles too) here are my top picks:

I’ve never much been a fan of predominantly white clothing, I’m just too messy but the cut and style of this dress has won me over.

I love how the cut out detail has transformed this little black dress in to something a bit more unusual for day or night.

Get your layering right and you could wear this little number right now. A very fine knit long sleeve underneath or statement jacket over the top + thick tights and boots and you’re good to go.

Likewise with this dress, the darker colour scheme makes this a potential trans-seasonal piece making it double the bargain at only £30

The print on this makes me think of sunny summer holidays which is reason enough to buy it surely?

Ok so looking through these aren’t the most summery of Apricot‘s new arrivals but I like them anyway. I think any of them could be bought now and worn right through until A/W drops (and beyond) which makes them excellent value for money. Nothing I’ve featured costs over £40 (the jacket is the most expensive at £39) so what are you waiting for? Banish those winter blues and SHOP…if it isn’t payday just yet it soon will be!

Have you started thinking about what you’ll be wearing come Spring yet?
