Fashion East designer Maarten van der Horst teams up with TOTAL Greek
Yoghurt to create 100 lunch pots for Action for Children
TOTAL Greek Yoghurt and fashion designer Maarten van der Horst have
joined forces to create a limited edition run of 100 custom designed Black +
Blum lunch pots.

All proceeds from the sale of the pots go directly to TOTAL Greek Yoghurt’s
chosen charity, Action for Children.

Just 100 pots, designed by the fashion designer who single-handedly
brought about the Hawaiian shirt resurgence, will be on sale for £25 from
the Black + Blum website.

Maarten van der Horst was given a blank canvas to create the ultimate
lunch pot for today’s fashion-conscious woman on the go, taking inspiration
from the 100% natural Greek import.

The result was a partnership with Black + Blum and a return to vibrant,
colourful and playful collages that mixed his signature style with the fresh
and natural ingredients often enjoyed with a pot of TOTAL Greek Yoghurt.

Speaking of the design Maarten van der Horst said:
“When creating the design, I decided to return to the floral prints that have
become synonymous with my designs since the Hawaiian shirt featured in
my first collection. The fresh and colorful print for TOTAL Greek Yoghurt
and Action for Children features elements of my latest London Fashion
Week collection and signals a movement away from the monochrome looks
seen at my last show.”

The Maarten van der Horst for TOTAL Greek Yoghurt lunch pots are
designed to have an ingenious watertight locking seal, synonymous
with Black & Blum’s classic Lunch range. The two containers combine
to make one container, allowing users to separate their yoghurt and
accompaniment – be that fruit, granola or honey – without danger of
spillage.

Last month, the Dutch-born Central Saint Martins’ graduate and Fashion
East designer presented his SS13 collection with a anti-consumerism
theme. However, his work with TOTAL Greek Yoghurt has seem him return
to the florals he has become synonymous with over his first two Fashion
East collections, in order to create his first-ever food packaging.

Alison White, PR and Social Media Manager at TOTAL Greek Yoghurt, said:
“Lunchtime has never been more hip. We are proud to be working
with one of the brightest stars in the fashion world to make enjoying
a tasty breakfast or snack of TOTAL Greek Yoghurt the thing to do at
London Fashion Week. Our yoghurt is authentic, high in protein, low in
fat and completely natural – perfect for London fashionistas on the go.
Consequently, we hope that Martin’s 100 lunch pot accessories become the
must-have item this spring!”

The 100 limited edition Maarten van der Horst for TOTAL Greek Yoghurt
Black + Blum pots cost £25 and are available exclusively from www.black-blum.com.

As a fan of TOTAL Greek Yoghurt I couldn’t resist sharing this fabulous collaboration. If it was payday already I’d totally (haa) be snapping one up!
How do you eat your Greek Yoghurt? My forever favourite is with granola…or sometimes I change it up and add peanut butter and raisins. Yum.

spring in my step

Jacket: Glamourous (competition win)
Top: Good old Asda
Skirt: Bershka
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell c/o Sarenza
How amazing is this recent weather for putting a smile on your face? Finally quite hopeful that winter will soon leave us (please, no random cold snaps now)
This was an outfit made entirely out of comfort clothes. This skirt has been neglected lately, I naively assumed it wouldn’t fit any more only to find it has a very forgiving waist band! The top has also been neglected but that is my own fault for keeping such a messy clothes storage system; things get lost!
I wasn’t sure about this jacket when it first arrived but I’ve worn it non-stop over the weekend and it has grown on me a lot, hello new spring staple!
This weekend was wonderfully low key with not much going on bar a spot of shopping on Saturday (when I wore this) and a coffee and scratch card session with Ellie today. I also walked round to see my Grandad, a walk I haven’t been able to do for almost six months due to my stupid foot. Said stupid foot still isn’t right. I’m awaiting an appointment with the ortho consultant, but don’t hold out much hope in getting one any time soon! I just want to get an MRI arranged, find out if anything is going on and then move on.
Well, off for a new week at work. I’m pretty sure it should be a better one, it can’t get much worse than Friday’s epic chaos.
Happy Monday everyone, what did you get up to this weekend? I’m quite glad I’m not at LFW, it looks exhausting…to be honest I’ve not paid it much attention, I think I much prefer high street fashion.

Sarenza Sunday- Divine Dyvyne

This week new shoes have been arriving thick and fast at Sarenza (indeed, I didn’t know where to start with my browsing). For the next few weeks I think my regular Sunday feature will be less troublesome in finding something feature as there is just so.much.gorgeous. Take for example this week’s pick, the stunning “Dyvyne” by Steve Madden, which at £88.90 strikes me as excellent value for money when you consider the versatility of a blush coloured shoe. I’m thinking frilly ankle socks and midi length flared skirts; bare legged with flirtly floral or neon dresses; used to dress up jeans and a new season tee…and I am quite sure there are at least 50 other options that I’m not mentioning here. In short, this is a shoe of dreams, it looks far, far more expensive than the price tag suggests and the nude colouring with golden heels fits in well with this season’s trend for all things metallic.

Convinced yet? You can thank me later when you’re doing your best catwalk strut in these.

Experiments in DIY

January and February are the most dull months I find, the reality of winter hits with no Christmas to cheer us along. When Ladbrookes wanted to send a parcel to help sparkle up those days to celebrate their diamond slot games (find out more here) I was clearly all for it.

What I didn’t really anticipate, despite knowing that this challenge would involve a little bit of DIY was just how hopeless I am at it. When the pack of “tools” arrived (which I failed to photograph in true blogger fail style) containing studs, swarvoski crystals, SUPER strong glue and a pencil to mark your place I thought I’d be in for an easy and fun time. Days later when the Asos goodies they also provided turned up I started to think otherwise.

(A note on the outfit- the dress, shoes and necklace all came via Asos thanks to a voucher supplied, I made the most of the sale and snagged the whole lot ot complete the look. The tights and bad posing are entirely my own).

Above…that’d be my workspace. This wasn’t getting me off to a flying start was it? Despite that stumbling block I set aside some time on a gloomy afternoon and plotted what I wanted to do. Drawn immediately to the studs I decided simple was better. How hard can it be to push a few bits of metal through some shoes? Er, very as it happens. In the end I resorted to the glue, sticking my fingers together in the process. I’m not the artsy, crafty type but hurdles aside I had fun and really quite like the end result. It’s a bit like a young child and their first piece of art…no matter how wonky it looks there is a real sense of achievement that comes from it and I have to say with the music blasting, the occasional curse word and an hour or more whizzing past this little activity really did brighten up the day and added a touch of something sparkly.

Now,
if only I could remove the glue from my fingernail…

Pass the Specs

Dress: New Look
Tights: Primark
Boots: Madden Girl c/o Sarenza
A few days ago I was contacted by Specsavers about taking part in a fun little game called “Pass the Specs”. The idea behind the game is that a pair of frames is sent to five bloggers each month, in turn to see how they style them up.
The frames in question were these beauties by Armani and I have fallen head over heels in love with them, so much so that I am going to scope out my local Specsavers on my lunch break tomorrow, see if they have them and then book in an (admittedly overdue) eye test. I’ve never really been sold on larger frames on my face but without wishing to sound big headed I really think these suit me. I think half the problem before was that my face wasn’t full enough to take them…recovery has so many upsides and I think that warrants a spectacle shaped treat don’t you?
I’m not really sure if I had any inspiration behind this outfit other than it’s what I would and do wear on a daily basis and I think it complements the frames quite well. Something I’ve learnt over the years is that glasses don’t have to be a bind. If you need them you need them and it’s only recently that I’ve started heeding that advice and wearing mine when required.
Sorry to detract from the main topic of this post, but oh these boots. I’ve had them since I injured my foot and this was the first chance I had to wear them. In love. I managed a whole day on my feet in them with no discomfort. Expect to seem them rather a lot more.
Back on track; what do you think of the frames? What would you style them with?
I can’t wait to see what the other bloggers in this month’s challenge come up with!
