GHD Style and Protect

Last week a box of goodies turned up on my doorstep containing some luxurious looking Style and Protect hair products from GHD…masters of all things straighteners!

Normally I do all reviews for my blog myself, but this time I asked my Mum if she’d like to do the honours (she is far more hair savvy than I, and frankly, needed a little cheering up). I did snag the hairbrush for myself and it proved perfect for my super thick hair. The box set also came with some seperating clips which are really handy when attempting to sort out my layers!

Anyway, this review is really about the products, so without further ado…

“The GHD Straight and Smooth Spray is a fabulous spray and works brilliantly, the only downside is that unless you wash your hair everyday it does tend to make your hair a bit “crispy” to touch! The smell is gorgeous and if I washed my hair daily I would use this product all the time.
The final shine spray leaves your hair soft and shiny with a great scent, ideal for inbetween washes”.

This set retails at £39 and comes in an elegant looking gift box. It may be pricey for a hair care set, but when you look at what hair products cost from Boots and Superdrug these days, it’s actually not that bad. GHD lovers will love this and it would make a fantastic gift, too!

Available here.

Have you tried any of the hair care range?

I’m really enjoying doing some more non-outfit posts, I’ll probably make it a more regular thing!

my skin saviour from Jergens

A few weeks ago I was sent a tube of the brand new moisturiser by Jergens; Ultra Healing. Designed for extra dry skin and promising to nourish and heal I had mixed hopes. Could this product succeed where others have failed to make a difference to my extra, extra dry skin?

In short, yes.

I have a love hate relationship with moisturisers. I buy the latest wonder product hoping it’ll ease the itch and give me the super soft skin I covet only to discard it after a couple of uses because it’s too greasy/smells funny/hasn’t made the slightest bit of difference.

This is different. I’m already half a tube down (I don’t ever get that far!). The perfect non-greasy, fast absorbing formula with a heavenly scent, this is a hard worker and I love it!

Keep your eyes peeled in your local Boots.com and Superdrug stores for the new look range.

As an aside, the new look packaging for Jergens products is fabulous, don’t you think?

Give me a shout if you’ve seen this anywhere, and also…share your skin saviours!

P.S. you can also enter Style Your Skin, a competition on Facebook which could lead to you being in an issue of Marie Claire magazine!

Blast from the past with Skin Art

The first time I used temporary tattoos I was five years old and they featured the power rangers. A few years on, further in to the 1990s when everyone was flashing their body jewellery I experimented a bit more, although those were those odd plastic choker type affairs in celtic designs.

Fast forward a few years and things have changed for the better Skin Art recently got in touch asking me if I’d like to take a look at their range of products, and as I’m considering getting another real tattoo (I have four so far) I thought it a good chance to try out some potential designs.
Skin Art is a collection of beautifully illustrated temporary tattoos, and sparkling glitter tattoos. First launched in 2011 as a limited edition Christmas line, Skin Art flew off the shelves and became a complete sell out in a matter of weeks. Following on from this success, Skin Art ihas launched a brand new collection that has been created for an instant festival / rock star look, with zero commitment.
The temporary tattoo designs are simple to apply using a water / transfer method, and the glitter tattoos are created using loose glitter and stencils, with simple step by steps for a flawless finish. The tattoos can last for up to five days, depending on the design, where it is applied and your skin type. The full range consists of 3 temporary tattoo kits, a sparkling glitter tattoo kit, plus a set of additional stencil designs. Available exclusively from Boots and Boots.com.

As you can see, I was sent quite a variety, my favourite being the “I’m a dreamer” collection.

The tattoos are super simple to apply and are really effective. They last up to five days, depending on where you apply them and what your skin type is which is the perfect amount of time to see if a design is really “you” or for a few days away…a festival perhaps?

I was really impressed by these, and as a pack retails at £7.99 and you get loads of designs I think they are excellent value for money, too. I’m looking forward to experimenting further over the summer and hopefully settling on my new piece of ink.

What are your opinion on tattoos; temporary or not?

every cloud has a pink lining

Another day and another fantastic discovery through the world of blogging…

Pink lining started off in fashion bags but when the designer had her first child she moved into changing bags. Our changing bags are sold in Harrods, 27 John Lewis retail outlets nationwide, Fenwicks, Bentalls and many independent boutiques around the country.  We also have a presence internationally with stockists such as Harvey Nichols, Riyadh.
Now the designer is launching her debut luggage collection which is available from www.pinklining.co.uk from early June 2012.
Company bio:
Pink Lining London was established in 2001 by husband and wife team; Charlotte and Rufus Pearl. Pink Lining is  the international family lifestyle label, that aims to put the smile and design into practicality by making the usually mundane covetable.
Charlotte’s debut luggage range incorporates all of the functionality required for our busy daily lifestyles, whilst her distinctively designed fabrics immediately identify the brand.

There is no ostentatious label on the outside, in fact, Pink Lining’s label is the signature shocking pink lining.

Smitten with the quirky prints and reasonable prices (Travel bags are £55, Laptop bag, £65 and Wheelie case £110) I was flattered when Pink Lining offered to send me my very own bag so I could assess the quality and quirkiness for myself,

a few days ago this gorgeous Travel Bag in the sort of girly, but also kind of nautical bow print turned up at my door, perfectly presented in shocking pink tissue paper. As you can see from the above photos, the bag is even more stunning in real life (and more stunning again when you are holding it in your hands). For those that love to travel, I really recommend checking out Pink Lining

Which will your signature print be?

The eyes have it.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Vision Direct about featuring some coloured contact lenses on the blog. Initially hesitant, I remembered my extreme curiosity when these first came on to the market and decided it could be quite good fun (I guess I also wanted to see if we only suited the eye colour we were born with).

One of the samples I recieved was these Jade Green ColorMaker lenses with no prescription. These are a monthly disposable lens and I was also sent a container to keep them in and bottle of solution for between wear.
I wear glasses but have never experimented with lenses, so how easy were these to use? Well, as long as you don’t mind fingers near your face, they are a doddle!

I really loved the vibrant green colour, although not that many people noticed (but then, I don’t walk around inspecting people’s eye colour!) They were also really easy to remove and store and I shall be wearing them again soon.

The other sample I was sent was a more subtle green daily wear lens by FreshLook which I am yet to try, but I shall report back when I do!

Have you tried coloured contacts? What do you think of me as a green eyed girl?
