Jordans Cereals; a bite of luxury

Breakfast is hands down the best meal of the day (if you don’t agree then we can’t be friends). I shake my head in disbelief when I think back to when I refused to eat a morning meal, now I wouldn’t be able to leave the house without it and although I mostly favour porridge for it’s slow release energy, the latest releases from Jordans have me converted.

My love of Country Crisp breakfast cereal was instant, some years ago when I was given a box of the strawberry variety. It became dangerous to have around as it’s just so more-ish and the second I set eyes on the new Super Berry variety I knew the box was doomed. Crispy, crunchy golden clusters of oats mixed up with blackcurrants, cranberries and blueberries with no added salt, a high fibre content and no GM ingredients the creamy and sweet taste of the oats is contrasted perfectly with the tartness of the berries. Forget milk, I think this is best eaten by the handful from the box (although if youi do want to eat it in a more traditional way, hot milk makes the perfect Autumn morning treat). Oh granola, so addictive!

For those who don’t have time for a sit down breakfast or like me, have a snacking addiction then the Absolute Nut luxury bars are for you. Jam packed with almonds, hazelnuts and pecan pieces these are irresistable and pack a powerful punch. Substatinal enough for a morning meal and easily portable I’ll be keeping one of these in my work bag for days when I’m running late or get mid-morning/afternoon/any time munchies. Again with no added salt, lots of fibre and nothing artifical you could do far worse in a cereal bar!

You’ll find both products stocked in Tesco and Waitrose and whilst they may seem more expensive than other products on the market, they are SO good and so luxurious (and a heck of a lot cheaper than a hastily grabbed latte and muffin en route…better for you, too!)

Are you a breakfast fan? What’s your favourite way to start the day?

Marvellous Mocktails

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the creators of My Cocktail, asking me if I’d like to try their alcohol alternative to cocktails, Mocktails.

These are ready to drink, chilled from the pack and come in two classic cocktail flavours; Woo Woo and Pina Colada. A fun alternative to fruit juice for the non-drinkers, they are also marketed as a lower calorie beverage! You can also add alcohol to the mixes for an easy cocktail.

I’m not a big drinker, I enjoy the occasional g&t and that’s about it, but these intrigued me. In the end though I passed them on to best friend, Trudi, more of a Cocktail conniseur than me to see how they really compared to the alcoholic version!

(I will note I was very impressed with the packaging of these, bright and eye-catching and clearly labelled as alcohol free).

Here are Trudi’s thoughts:

Woo Woo- “Love this one, it reminds me of uni and sharing pitchers of Woo Woo. It tastes like the actual cocktail, and as well as trying it straight I also added some Archers (I had no Vodka) which was an experiment that ended well!”

Pina Colada- “This had a really strong pineapple taste and would also be fab with some added Rum to compliment the coconut”

“My Dad also enjoyed these, especially the Woo Woo which shows how these are set to appeal to all age groups. Adding alcohol didn’t change the taste much meaning the non-drinkers won’t feel like they are missing out- they’d be great for a house party, picnic, or just chilling out on a Summer day”.

My Mocktail is available from Asda priced at RRP £2.49 for a 1 litre tetrapack. For more information on Mocktails and the rest of the My Cocktail range you can check out the website here.

They also have a facebook page; perfect for letting them know what you think or picking up tips on how to enjoy!

that which we call a rose

A few weeks ago (way back before I went to Spain actually) I was given the chance to create a customised ring from Jewlr, a fabulous website I’d somehow not heard of before where you can tailor your jewellery to suit you or your chosen recipient.
I picked the “flourish rose” ring from the striking Prism Collection, opting to skip the engraving and have it bejwelled with a Swarvoski amethyst.

I was genuinely impressed at how fast this arrived and how neatly and attractively packaged it was. The ring itself is a thing of beauty. The website is definately one to bookmark for future gift shopping; it’s not just limited to rings, you can also customise pendants and there is something for any one and any occasion.

Should you wish to get a head start on Christmas shopping, treat yourself or need a gift for a special occasion the folks at Jewlr are offering 10% for readers of the blog when you use the code DAISYCHAINDREAM.

Which piece will you choose, and how will you customise it?

Holiday Essential from Sure

I’m a bit late to the game with this post, I was sent a sample of the deodrant to review, but it arrived after my holiday so I didn’t get to test it to it’s full potential;
however, we did have a “heatwave” here over the weekend, and eventually it did heat up down West, although nothing compared to London it would seem!

I am fussy with deodrants. Very fussy. Sure is a brand I come back to time and time again and I am yet to find a product of theirs I don’t like. This would be no exception. The Summery scent left me feeling fresh, and although I didn’t have a very active weekend I stayed dry and sweat patch free (I’m one of those folk who sweats a lot!)

I reckon this is a must have for those of you still to jet off, or if your heading to a late Summer festival.

Well done Sure. Well done.

You’ll find this in all leading retailers costing £2.19(RRP) for 150ml, a roll on version is also available.

Fun and Games with Groupon

Who remembers Quoits? Perhaps I’m alone in this being one of my favourite childhood garden games; I have so many happy memories of trying to get hoops over the pegs (always overshadowed by my champion Grandad) but not many other people seem to know what I’m talking about, and I was having trouble tracking a new set down.

That trouble ended recently thanks to Groupon who recently offered me a voucher to spend on their site. I’ve been aware of Groupon for some time but had always been wary about using it, wondering if it really was too good to be true,
and living in Bristol, a lot of the best deals are missed, so I headed straight for the goods section where I clapped eyes on a retro garden games offer…
Quoits, at a bargain price?! On to a winner!

I was really impressed with the way Groupon operated. I was under the impression I’d be waiting months to recieve my deal,
but the parcel was on my door within a week. The instructions for redeeming a deal were easy to follow and there were no hiccups along the way.

Now all I need is some sunshine and a few team players…

Blogger tournament anyone?

What’s your best deal from Groupon been?

PLEASE tell me you remember Quoits?!
