An Apple a Day

Monsoon Fusion apple print dress (from 2 years ago), Tesco tights, Poetic License shoes. An outfit made up of old favourites, both the dress and shoes were major sales bargains and despite the weather not reflecting the spring time, I felt like bringing about some of those summery memories.

Mae is utterly exhausted after a long weekend/week exploring the garden, she slept for pretty much all of yesterday (she snores). There is something so calming about a sleeping cat.

Anyone else finding this week feels exceptionally long despite the bank holiday? It feels like it should be Friday at least! Time is doing funny and cruel things at the moment. Ah well, a morning of blood taking awaits me, then one more day and it IS the weekend.

pandora’s box

My Birthday gift from Best.Friend. was a gift card for Pandora…we’d talked about getting a friendship bracelet for some time, and decided that if we were going to do it, we’d damn well do it properly (and might I just add, this girl is worth her weight in gold several times over). We’d initially decided to save up once I’d quit smoking (more on that some other time) but with the passing of my Nan we decided to jump the gun and get them sooner, with a charm in her memory (my grandparents long ago “adopted” her as their own).

And that is how we found ourselves, still grieving and intolerant of simple things like crowds of people at the Mall at Cribbs Causeway yesterday choosing our bracelets. We bypassed the traditional silver and opted for the leather bracelets; pink for me, purple for her (these were more budget friendly at £40 each and more us) along with the “Best Friends” scroll charm and the little silver owl, as for unknown reasons, my Nan was obsessed with those beautiful birds.
I’m glad to have something so special, to celebrate the friend who has stuck by me when many others would have walked away, and to commemorate my Nan, a woman who loved and was loved, and forever will be.

I dragged myself out of my jeans and jumper combo and in to a River Island dress, teal tights and Jeffrey Campbell boots; c/o Sarenza.

And of course, Mae had to sneak in to this post, just as she sneaks in anywhere. The pose exhibited here? Well, that either means she wants tummy rubs, or is about to launch an attack on your feet depending on her mood.

Happy Sunday,
how’s the long weekend going?

Muddling

It’s been a funny week, in a non-funny way. Being back at work is doing me good but it all feels very surreal still. Staff sickness means I’ve done bloods every day, including today…yesterday I had my first fainter which was certainly an experience! This outfit is typical of what I’ve really been craving clothes wise; TK MAXX jumper, Next jeans, Jeffrey Campbell boots c/o Sarenza. My motivation to think about and put together outfits feels somewhat limited, partly due to the weather I think (always blame the weather)

Even though I wanted to ignore it completely, I still had some presents for my Birthday. A highlight and one I can’t wait to experiment with was a bag of Lakeland baking goodies from my Grandparents (I can’t bring myself to not say that) which included a much admired cake pop maker. Watch this space!
Other highlights included a gorgeous vase from my Brother and his girlfriend and a Pandora gift card from Best Friend (of which more will be said soon).

Mae has had a pretty good week, spoiled by having her original owners home (which was lovely despite the circumstances) she was in her element being cute, and Tuesday saw her first adventures in to the big wide world of the back garden; she’d never been outside before and it was so cute/funny to see her bunny hop, sniff and explore this new world. As soon as the weather allows we’ll be cat flap training her and getting her some more freedom; we also need to get her micro-chipped due to her refusal to wear a collar (we’ve decided her neck is too stumpy).

Well, my work uniform beckons and I’d best get moving…the long weekend is looming, and I for one am quite looking forward to catching up on some much needed sleep and spending time with my family.

What are your plans? If the weather gets better I might venture to the frankly dire attempt at a May Fair at the park opposite me. It hasn’t changed in the 25 years I’ve been alive, and that really is not a good thing!

wild thing

Primark Jumper, River Island skirt, Shellys shoes, Vintage locket

This skirt is one of my fall backs for days I don’t know what to wear, it’s seen me through a lot of shifts at work; the thick fabric and nipped in waist keep it ok for the office I find.

Just a brief post, I seem to have a million and one things to do before work…not least clear up the trail of destruction Mae has left over my room…don’t be fooled by her cute looks and love of cuddles, this creature gets up to all sorts!

Happy Thursday folks, the weekend is within our grasp!

black ‘n blue

Matalan Dress and Noe shoes c/o Sarenza. Mae loves these shoes as much as I do…she makes a beeline for them whenever they are in her reach! Actually, she likes shoes in general, which is a sign she’s the right cat for me!
HAIR DOWN! This never happens. You can’t really tell, but it’s got so long, especially at the back. It is in dire need of being coloured again, which will happen asap (weekend, I hope!). I’m thinking of bleaching the ends to an orange-y colour for a bit of a change…kind of a sunset ombre type thing…oh I don’t know. I’m in one of those “I hate my hair” phases…any suggestions?

Happy Wednesday folks, half way there!
