where flowers grow

ASOS dress, Primark tights, Ellos boots. An outfit from Friday, I think.

The photo above sums up my Nan perfectly. So full of love for her family and a real sense of fun. The service yesterday was beautiful; immediate family over, short and to the point, exactly how she would have wanted it. We spent the rest of the day together, as an entire family, something that very rarely happens and when it did, Nanny was in her element. A group of us went over to the local seafront, making the most of the glorious sunshine that had broken through and did things that we did when we were much, much younger. In the evening  we all went out for a meal.

There is still a sense of the surreal around it, for me, I guess I’m still in that denial stage of grief; but from today normal routines must commence, I go back to work tomorrow (complete with 7:15am start) and I guess, in time things will start to make sense.
On the work front things are great, my hours have been increased and I have my own phlebotomy sessions to do.

It’ll be back to the normal blogging routine, too, give or take. Thank goodness for the comfort of routine.

fly away home

I would like to start this post with a thank you; to everyone who commented on my last post, sent an e-mail, tweeted, texted…it sometimes takes a tragic event to realise what people mean to you and how much comfort strangers can bring, and trust me, you bought comfort.

It feels strange to be blogging, so soon (although I’ve kind of lost track of days) but my Nan loved my blog, and her and my Grandad often sat reading it. One thing that always intrigued her was how I ended up with so many gorgeous things from it (and the friendships I’ve made are included) and so it seemed fitting to write this post, so she can still see the dress I was sent c/o Ella Tino, a site I only discovered due to the world of blogging.

To be honest, I can’t really do the dress, or the website justice other than to say there is a lot on there I love; especially the shoes,
I’d urge you to take a look for yourselves, and like their facebook page too. I really am making a bit of a hash of this post, perhaps it is too soon, but regardless…a big thank you to Ella Tino for the dress (so perfect for the Spring/Summer weather we are yet to have) and for the discount code they have created to enable readers of my blog to indulge themselves when they enter the word “daisychain” at the checkout.

Thank you for sticking with me…the funeral will be on Monday. My Nan was such a self-less and loving woman, she only ever thought of others and dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Perhaps this explains why I am so distraught, why we all are as a family and why nothing seems real. In the cruelest twist of fate, she was getting better and was excited by her progress and coming home.
I will endeavour to get some blog posts up though, it’s a moment of escapism for me, and for her, something to look down upon.

P.S. If none of this makes sense, I’m sorry. If you think I’m an emotional idiot I’m sorry.

shoes that girl?

Dress, Yumi. Tights, Tesco. Shoes, Irregular Choice c/o Sarenza.

On Sunday my parents took a little trip down to Clark’s Village (for those who don’t know, it’s an outlet shopping centre). Before they went I cheekily requested a present; expecting a treat from the Cadbury world shop there at most…
Sometimes parents surprise you though, I certainly didn’t expect them to come back with a shoe print dress for me, that fits like a dream and sums me up to a tee! Dear parents, you may go shopping more often!

(Anyone looking for a Barbour jacket should head to Clarks, my Dad picked up an amazing one for £130 instead of £200-odd)

What memorable gifts have your parents surprised you with? Good or downright odd, I want to know!

P.S. Very giveaway closes Friday

tradition

((photo from tumblr))

Tradition states that when the 22nd December rolls around, I publicly humiliate my Mother by wishing her a very Happy Birthday
and once again thank her for sticking by me and being utterly amazing through whatever life throws at us. Wishing you a truly wonderful day Mum, and thank you, for everything. I won’t disgrace her by mentioning her age, but next year…well that’ll be a whole other kettle of fish.

For now I shall settle for disgracing her with these pictures of us keeping it classy at the work party tonight…ya know, for some working with your Mother could be a nightmare…for me? Dream come true!

Dressing

Oh, hello Friday (and PAY DAY!). How can a day come round so slowly, and yet so quickly?

Sunshine makes me break out my favourite dresses!

1: Daisy dress, New Look sale, shoes Shellys. Tights, necessary to keep dress ok for work (they are also temp regulation ones, so I didn’t melt, win win). I also wore this out for dinner last night to make the most of my Brother and his lovely Girlfriend being home for the weekend.

2. Technically I haven’t worn this yet, I was going to wear it yesterday morning, and then, after half an hour decided to save it for after work/lunch at my grandparents today. Maxi dress, Esprit sale (half price, then a further 20% off!), shoes will probably be wedges of some kind.

What are you up to this weekend? It’s a real family based one here. Hopefully made better by gorgeous, glorious sunshine!

I also have a giveaway lined up, and the return of Snacking Saturday!
