Dress: Asda George, Tights Tesco, Boots, New Look, Earrings from Crumple.

How cool are these earrings? Crumple is a new jewellery addiction of mine, so much so I have an entire post dedicated to them later.
Another addiction seems to be lip products, in the last seven days I’ve purchased L’oreal Rouge Caresse in Fashionista Pink and a Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop, both available from Boots.com (the two products really don’t compare in my opinion!)

Still loving this Asda dress, cost per wear basis has made it pretty much free already!

L’oreal vs. Revlon…your thoughts?

P.S. HUGE congrats to Dreams that Glitter for winning the Topshop voucher giveaway!

A Make Up Post

I am by no means a beauty blogger, I’ll make that clear from the start! I love makeup, but over the last couple of years have spent less and less time trying new products and generally making much of an effort. Recently I’ve found myself getting sucked back in to it, and with all the buzz around a few new products, I found myself making a few lunchtime purchases.

Boots 17 Range is a brand I’ve grown up with, and I hate to admit, become rather snobbish about over the years. Recently they’ve hopped back on my radar with the release of the magnetic nail polishes (which I have, but haven’t reviewed) and the latest beauty buzz…BB cream. I was actually quite surprised to see my tiny, local Boots stock the BB cream; they so rarely get the new items in. They also had the new metallic eyeshadows, and with the lot being on 3 for 2 I grabbed the BB cream and two eyeshadows; the bronze and the silver.
I don’t know what I expected from the BB cream, especially compared to my usual foundation, but I do really like how it makes my skin look; smooth and clear. I picked up the light shade and due to my extreme pale-ness I half anticipated turning orange, but this wasn’t the case and I will be purchasing this again.
The metallic eyeshadows are lovely. Unlike so many cream eyeshadows they don’t crease or slide off during the day. I’ve been wearing the copper a lot, either on it’s own or as a base for powder eyeshadows. Again, I’d re-purchase and will probably pick up more shades.

A few other products I’ve been loving are L’oreals superliner crystal, which is my dream liquid eyeliner. The crystal effect is subtle; barely metallic and I love it for it’s slightly less harsh look.
Rimmel ScandalEyes has become my new HG mascara, the photos above showing just one coat of it. I’ve already bought a backup.
Blusher wise, I’m loving ELF studio cream blush in flirt. There was much outcry over the price of this, at £6.50 it’s one of their more expensive products, but it is hands down the most flattering cream blusher I have ever used!

What products are you loving right now? Which new releases must I try…and which should I ignore?

A Natural Giveaway from iHerb

About a month ago now a couple of parcels from online health superstore iHerb landed on my doorstep containing a new range of all natural body and hair products from madre labs.

The entire range carries a “no no-nos” meaning that they contain No sulfates, parabens, dyes, animal ingredients and animal testing and the product is also very eco-friendly and uses biodegradable ingredients.

My thoughts on the range, on the whole are very good. The shampoos, despite not foaming due to the lack of everything bad smelt INCREDIBLE and left my hair super clean and supersoft…something that doesn’t always happen when I use something I’ve picked up in one of the local shops. The tangerine scented leave in conditioner  is something I now won’t do without. It keeps my dry, unruly hair in check without weighing it down, or making it greasy and the smell reminds me of summer days (always a bonus at this time of year!)

I can’t find enough words of praise for the bodycare range. The entire lot is un-scented which suits me perfectly. I have super sensitive and super dry skin, and a phobia of the feel of anything greasy, meaning I don’t moisturise as often as I should.
The handcream especially has become a bit of a daily staple, which speaks volumes about how much I love a product and my hands are often neglected due to over-perfumed and over greasy products. This sinks in so fast and leaves my hands so soft I can’t imagine life without it!

I wish I had my own label so I could add a “daisychain approved” sticker to these products. I’m not a beauty blogger by any means, hence the somewhat wonky review, but I know what I like and I know how damn fussy I am (my beauty cupboard being  a graveyard to once used and discarded products).

The only place you can get these products is via iHerb who ship internationally at very, very reasonable rates. I’m a long time customer of theirs for food products, and now beauty.
If you want to make an order, you can get $5 off your first purchase using  ARU539,

Scented Saturday

The other day whilst stalking catching up on Twitter gossip I noticed Laura Ashley mention their new fragrances,
as a brand I grew up knowing and associating with gorgeous homewear and covetable clothes, I was curious about how well they could do with a scent.
A few tweets back and forwards about this and they kindly offered to send me one of the perfumes so I could see for myself…
the next day a bottle of “Green Meadow” was on my doorstep, just in time for me to road test it for work.

The packaging is lovely, which wasn’t such a surprise given the brand’s fame for florals and prints! The bottle looks elegant with an air of vintage style around it, perfect for any dressing table.

As mentioned, I wore this in to work. I work in an office full of scent obsessed women, where we are forever sniffing each other and comparing latest fragrances.
As soon as I walked in I was greeted with “oh, you smell nice…who’s that by?”

Laura Ashley wasn’t the response they expected, and to be perfectly honest I didn’t expect to love this quite as much as I do! The scent isn’t as floral or sweet as I usually wear,
but it also doesn’t have the heavy scent  I reserve for evenings. I’m not really sure how to describe it, other than the name “green meadow” suits it to a tee.

Have you tried any of the other scents yet? I’m keen to try the others, too, when they launch on October 3rd. At £36 for 50ml this isn’t your bog-standard off the shelf in Superdrug perfume but it also isn’t in the realm of “in my dreams” … plus you can get a gift set of all three for £48.

Get writing those Christmas lists early girls!

Available online and in store from October 3rd.
