Valentines Day Dress Inspiration

Ok, I’ve left it really late to post this one…my bad- the days are all kind of merging in to one at the moment, but as it’s only half way through Valenties Day I’m posting regardless.
Find a Valentines Dress to Suit Your Date
Whether the object of your affection choses to celebrate it or not, us ladies like to feel special on Valentine’s Day. Having recently seen that one of my favourite online fashion brands, Goddiva, have released a Valentines dress range. I felt inspired to find a dress for each given Valentine’s Day scenario. So, here are some great Valentines dress ideas that will get you the attention you deserve this year.
1. First Date Valentines Evening Dress
Firstly, if you have pegged yourself a date on Valentine’s Day and the fella actually turns up you are already onto a winner. Any man brave enough to take a women out for the first time on this romantic holiday is clearly ‘that into you!’ That said, you don’t want to give off the wrong signals by revealing too much on your first date. Here are my top two first date valentines outfit choices:

first date

If you want to go with a classic red dress on your Valentine’s Day first date, stick to darker burgundy tones like this wine colour Valentines dress (left). This will express more allure and elegance rather than brighter reds which can be a little too strong for the earlier stages of a blossoming relationship. Black mesh is also great for a first date. You can show off your chest and legs without coming across as inappropriate. I love this polka dot mesh evening dress. I’ve also suggested some cute accessories including this love heart bangle which would look great with the red number and diamante black velvet clutch bag that would look amazing with the mesh dress.
2. Spicing Things Up on a Date with Your Partner / Husband
Having been with my gorgeous boyfriend Ben for almost a year now I have to say we are still pretty fresh. However, as it is our first Valentine ’s Day together I certainly want to look my best! You can afford to be a little more risky but try to dress appropriately for where you are going on your date. If it’s a posh restaurant then keep it elegant and sensual but if you are going out dancing then go for it with a sassy short dress or two-piece. They always say that you should only show your cleavage or your legs, never both. For me it is always about the legs so these are a few of my favourites.

party time

I love the pearl detail on the first red party dress. There is also a vintage feel about this one that I like and would probably wear a white faux fur shrug with this one. The Kim Kardashian inspired evening dress in the middle is stunning. The swooped lace is really flattering and the teasing glimpses of skin from the red lace will certainly help spice up your evening with your man. I’ve written previously about the tartan trend and I say, why not bring it into Valentine’s Day with this red tartan top and pencil skirt?
3. Single on Valentine’s Day?
If you are painting the town red with your single gal pals on Valentine’s Day this year, then feeling confident and getting noticed is probably your number one priority. Here are some attention grabbing dresses that are sure to get the lads hearts pumping:

When it comes to confidence you can’t go wrong with this red and black bodycon dress, I have included some matching red and black heels that will finish this Valentines outfit off nicely. If you want to shine then this off-the-shoulder metallic party dress is certain to turn heads. You can also sparkle from your toes upwards with these black sequin shoe boots.
I hope my post helped inspire your Valentines outfit and I look forward to sharing my own Valentines dress choice very soon! Have a lovely time and stay loved up, I know I plan too.

Sit Back, Relax

This is the last of my pre-op outfit posts so there may be a pause with those for a while; there’s not an awful lot of motivation to get dressed properly when stuck indoors but I think from next week I can venture further than the top of my road and should also be more comfortable to stand in front of a camera.
Anyway, this outfit is pretty typical of what I sling on after work, after a morning or day of being smart I love popping on something comfortable and perfect for slouching around in.
Dress: Monki at ASOS | Converse: c/o Sarenza
I wasn’t sure about this dress when I first got it. I’ve become a bit shy of tight fitting styles at the moment and I almost sent it back. After a couple of trial wears around the house I realised it wasn’t so bad and it’s something I’ll put on from time to time. My confidence has dipped lately, mostly due to being inactive. I can’t wait to build up a a bit of strength and fitness again!
Bonus shot of Mae just because she hasn’t appeared for a while. She’s a strange cat to say the least. One minute she’s crawling sideways trying to pounce on feet, the next she’s curled up sound asleep. Unlike Flash she is only affectionate when she wants to be and seems to go through phases of who’s in favour. Right now it’s me and Mae has spent a lot of time by my side. Give it a week and she’ll be clawing my feet or running away at the sight of me. She has a terrible habit of getting up on the table when we are eating too…(and is good at getting out of the room we’ve shut her in). You take your eye off your plate for a second and out comes the paw, scooping up what she can. Her favourite at the moment seems to be jacket potato.
Do any of your pets have quirky habits?
Oh, and Happy Valentines Day!

SHOE CRUSH- Dukes Boots

It’s been a while since I last discovered a really unique shoe brand, one that made me instantly fall in love the second I set eyes on it. The other day I had an e-mail which mentioned Dukes Boots and being the curious creature that I am I had to go have a browse. That was that really. Laura has another shoe crush, I’m bordering on obsessed with some of these styles.
I’ve popped up images of the four women’s styles that Dukes has to offer. I’m utterly in love with the Chelsea Boots which come in some fantastic colour-ways- it’s the Lotta pair that has my heart! The Monk shoes are a style I’ve never found myself considering before, but after hearing on the grapevine that there will be some fabulous pastel ones launching for the new season I’m starting to change my mind…watch this space!
Dukes was set up by the lovely Daisy who designs the boots here in the UK. One they’ve been designed the boots are handmade by craftsmen in Spain to the highest standard. Every pair is made to last with leather soles and lining. I just can’t get enough of them!
The Summer collection is launching in the next couple of weeks and I just cannot wait to see it. I’m seriously skint right now but any spare pennies I get will be going towards a pair of Dukes.
Have you made any new discoveries lately? Which style of Dukes Boots best sums you up?

The Department of Disappearance

Another one of those stored away outfit posts. I love this blouse so much, the second I saw it I knew it had to be mine even if it did cost more than I usually pay for anything (£36). I’m not an expert at separates, give me a dress and I’m fine. Give me a blouse of pretty top and I become stuck. After a few weeks of pondering and trying on I finally came up with an outfit I was happy with…loose, casual and very me, even sticking to my favoured monochrome.
Blouse: ASOS | Skirt: New Look | Boots: New Look
Life continues at a slow pace, the real world seems quite separate from where I am now, apart from short walks I haven’t interacted with anyone other than family, Ben and a couple of friends! The only world I feel semi caught up in the blogging and twitter one, and even then I’m falling behind. I’m hoping now I’m having less pain and am becoming a bit more mobile I can start getting back to a normal routine and doing normal things. Before I got stuck with this back problem in October I took a lot of things for granted, now I intend to make the best of everything. I just need to get my bum off of the bed, stop internet window shopping for things I can’t afford (but Spring/Summer14 is looking amazing) and get back to it.
Is it time to ditch the monochrome for new season pastels and prettiness? I’m not sure I’m ready to give up the minimalism just yet!

Magpie Eye: Clea Silk

Another day and another new jewellery brand to admire. Clea Silk  presents an eclectic mixture of bold and bohemian pieces designed by self-confessed magpie Charlie Silk.
Clea Silk is a labour of love. Sourced from an eclectic, contemporary and unique collection of gold plated and silver jewellery found on their extensive travels, Clea Silk use only precious metals and semi-precious stones in their pieces. Inspiration mostly comes from everyday life, involving memories of travels or loved ones. To create a piece that can evoke such happy memories is quite some feat, but seemingly it’s something Clea Silk does to perfection. Each piece is designed to bring meaning to the person wearing it, I’m drawn to some of the brighter pieces reminding me of how happy I am surrounded by family and friends having fun.
Above is just a small selection of my favourite pieces, out of which the shell pendant has to rank as number one simply because it takes me straight back to family holidays on the beach. Even now when visiting a beach I find myself hunting for the perfect shell to bring home.
Price wise you’re looking at between around £25 and £100, really not bad for something so special. Which piece on Clea Silk captures your imagination? This is a brand that truly has something special. As time passes I’m becoming more and more interested in a jewellery and a discovery like this is a real gem (sorry, I had to!)
