Nica: perfect prints for work and play

Nica, a high street bag brand that can do no wrong in my eyes. I’ve loved their designs ever since I first clamped eyes on them some years ago and I’ve owned a fair few styles over that time too.
I was really excited when they tweeted about a new printed collection and even more excited when they offered to send me one of the bags to style up to show how versatile prints can be. My new bag- the Nica Play Tulip Crossbody (£39) is far smaller than  the bags I typically carry but it was a much needed reason to clear the rubbish out of my bag and actually, it’s the perfect size for my needs.

For work yesterday I wore the bag with a New Look top, H&M skirt and Clarks wedges (well, actually I changed to flats before leaving as my foot already had started to hurt). I was a bit worried that the print meant I’d stick to plain outfits but the neutral colours meant it pretty much goes with everything and pattern clashing is cool anyway! It’s not the point of this post but I was amazed at how much easier it was to have a smaller bag on me for work too, less scrabbling around for what I need at my desk and much easier to store!

For the afternoon I chucked on an old Oasis top that I found lurking, my new Primark £9 skinnies and some Bertie loafers. Again it was really easy to pair the print with an outfit, although what I wore was fairly plain I could and will happily pair this bag with any number of combinations.
They may not be the most exciting of outfits (goodbye inspiration) but it does go to show how something not obviously versatile actually can be.
Welcome to your new home little bag,
I promise to try not to overwork you!
Are you a Nica fan? How would you wear a printed bag?

Be a Glamzon with Guess

It’s no secret by now that I’m a massive fan of Guess jewellery,
I’ve featured several of their collections now and their latest offering- the Glamazon collection for AW13 could just be my favourite yet.

(all pieces are also available in gold)
“By incorporating the textures, shapes, and patterns of exotic animals including pythons, alligators,  zebras, cougars and elephants, this collection accentuates the GUESS Girl’s adventurous confidence. New coil bracelet silhouettes are easy to wear and stack to build a dramatic look. Whether glossy enameled zebra, shining metal cougar, or flashy serpent scale chain, these styles are all paired to
achieve a truly seductive look with strong sex appeal that only the GUESS brand can offer. There
is also a mesmerizing crystal chain coil bracelet that adds sparkle to the unique combinations of
animal-themed bracelets. And for a more subtle look, bracelets that combine alligator imprinted
antique metals with colorful soft fabrics in striking hues create a surprisingly glamorous effect.”
For more information and where to buy the collection visit www.guessjewellery.com
Prices aren’t eye watering for a designer piece of luxury and they are sure to make you stand out; I think they’ll be perfect with pretty much all of AW13’s key clothing trends,
what do you think?

Denim Dreams

I lived in jeans and denim as a teenager, I rarely wore anything but baggy, shapeless numbers or outrageous flares.
During the first couple of years of my twenties I rebelled and refused to wear jeans in any shape or style, or if I did it was because I had nothing else clean. I don’t know why I went off it in such an extreme way but all of a sudden denim didn’t appeal.
Now I’m older, more confident in my style and how I look and I find myself browsing jeans on a regular basis, dreaming of finding the perfect skinny fit or just baggy enough boyfriend style.
I’m on a tight budget, my most recent purchase was a pair of super skinnies from Primark costing a mere £9. They fit nice now but I don’t have high hopes for how long that’ll last. I think the most expensive pair of jeans I own come from Oasis and even then they were under the £50 mark.
With my mission to become healthier well under way I’ve decided that when my body reaches where it needs to be I’m going to splurge on some decent jeans, make the investment and wear them with pride. The right pair of jeans can take you seamlessly from day to night and will never lose their shape or go out of style.
This weekend I spent a while persuing the Trilogy stores website and came up with this little wishlist, which whilst not all denim or jeans does include some investment buys from denim geniuses Current Elliot and fashion favourite Rag and Bone jeans.
What are people’s thoughts on jeans? Something to invest in or a more throwaway fashion?
If you’ve taken the plunge and invested I’d love to know which brands you went for and how it felt to spend so much.
Oh, and if anyone has any denim disasters to share- I’m all for being amused!

Dress c/o Chi Chi
Shoes: Bertie
Bracelet c/o Lulu Pearls
I appear to now have quite a collection of Chi Chi dresses and with each new arrival in my wardrobe my love for the brand grows a little bit more.
This particular dress is one of those “I’ll chance it” type things, I had no idea what to expect it to look like on and to be honest, I didn’t expect to like how it looked on me.
Time to eat my words I guess; not only can I see myself wearing this out in public, I also enjoy how it fits and how it will fit when I have a few more curves.
I even managed to stick on some heels for a few minutes before admitting defeat. Shallow, but I don’t feel like me when I have to live in trainers and flats. Roll on my foot being fixed!
The bracelet came courtesy of a lovely lady named Lulu who contacted me whilst I was away in Spain. I’d never heard of Lulu Pearls  but a bit of poolside browsing told me that I liked what I saw and indeed she sold the kind of things I had spent much of my holiday searching for.
I love wrap bracelets and had been on the hunt for the perfect one and I believe it’s now mission accomplished. It’s not just wrap styles she sells- the whole range is available on the website and will soon be sold on ASOS too.
Well,
Monday again and work calls. I’ve just been awarded a proper phlebotomist role at work so I now do a 50/50 split of reception and blood taking. It’s an odd combination, I agree, but I love my job and never really dread or suffer from that Monday morning feeling.
For those of you who do, here’s a token gesture of a kitty sleeping…it’s about time Mae showed her face again.
(And why not cheer yourself up with a spot of shopping at Lulu’s site or Chi Chi?)

Sarenza Sunday- the return

Well, it’s been a little while since a certain Mr Campbell appeared on the blog, but with new arrivals popping up every single day on Sarenza at the moment his new collection was impossible to escape.
And so I find myself dreaming of the Ochoa boot which costs a far above my budget £185, eek! Trust me to covet something so unobtainable (I’ll be stalking the sales for sure!)
It’s probably just as well that I still can’t wear heels, it’s about the only thing holding me back from a rash purchase- after all, they fit perfectly with my propose A/W style.
