A Fashionable Brew

Pukka up for London Fashion Week with Peppermint and Licorice Tea
We are pleased to announce that Pukka tea will appear backstage at Anya Hindmarch LFW 2012

The Best of British will be showcased on the catwalk for London Fashion Week and so all eyes will be focused on spotting the next big trend, but models and designers over at Anya Hindmarch are already one step ahead as they sip on Pukka’s Peppermint and Licorice Tea backstage, proving that the next big thing is not only confined to the stage. Already a favourite of fashion’s sweetheart, Erin O’Connor, Pukka tea will provide a much-needed sense of calm during the biggest event in the fashion calendar.

As nervous models and stressed-out stylists wait for their big moment backstage they will be able to enjoy Pukka’s newest edition to the delicious tea range: Peppermint and Licorice. The tea will act to:

  • Enhance skin complexion
  • Aide digestion
  • Calm and Soothe
Whilst some of fashion’s greatest minds sip on Pukka backstage they will enjoy the great taste of Peppermint and Licorice but this fashionable treat is not only confined to the dazzling heights of elite fashion. You can enjoy Pukka at home for £2.25 (20 sachets) without any of that backstage mayhem, leaving you to focus on more important things – like how you can get your hands on that gorgeous Anya Hindmarch handbag!

I was sent a box of the tea to sample for myself and I was pretty excited; I do love my coffee but I’m also a big fan of herbal teas. Sadly my tastebuds aren’t very fashionable and I didn’t enjoy this as much as I hoped I would, it was still really drinkable though and I think I’ll keep the rest of my box at work to try and instill a sense of calm!

A selection of the teas are stocked by Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and other leading retailers and independent health stores, while the complete range is available online at www.pukkaherbs.com.

Sarenza Shoe of the Week

One day my taste in shoes might become more practical but right now I have drawn, like a magpie to all things sparkly.
So whilst browsing Sarenza, trying to find my top pick of the new arrivals to share with you, I bypassed some beautiful boots and sensible heels in favour of Marquis by Mellow Yellow despite knowing I’d have no true occassion to wear them (I already have a few too many pairs of glittery shoes)
But still, they are beautiful and I am sure with a little bit of attitude I could turn them in to a day time shoe…where there is a will there’s a way! At £126 these really will be wishlist only but those beautiful blue sparkles will call me for months to come
(There is also a Black version and a very on trend Burgundy for me to obsess over)

Are you drawn to impractical shoes? Trying to find something suitable for work is a nightmare, I possibly own one sensible pair of flat loafers and the rest kind of border on acceptable, but not really office friendly, oops!

((And to think, just two years ago, I owned perhaps seven pairs of shoes and thought that a lot! Shoe size stays a lot more stable than clothes size, that’s my excuse!))

P.S. Joy of joy, I found a flat version that I COULD pass off as a work shoe for real!

Mind Over Matter

As I mentioned in a previous post or two, yesterday was tattoo day! It didn’t exactly go to plan; Ellie and I were booked in at the tattoo studio in my home town where I’ve been twice before without problem. This time however the tattoist failed to turn up, it had been open in the morning, but when we arrived we found it closed up and no-one could contact the chap. We waited an hour but cut our losses and phoned some other places and ended up racing over to Weston-Super-Mare to Dino’s Tattooist who welcome walk-ins and informed us if we could be there by 4:15pm they’d see us no problems.
As is often the way with Ellie and I, this worked amazingly in our favour. We could not have picked a nicer place to go, with a warm friendly atmosphere and multiple artists working. Sorry local chap, you lost a lot of money and two potentially regular customers…Dino’s is where it’s at!

I had the words “Mind Over Matter” inked on to my left foot. I’m going through a massive period of change right now, one I’ve attempted many times before and never managed to see through. This time feels so right and so different and this phrase is something that has kept me going. Now I have a constant reminder that no matter how impossible it may sometime seem, I can do this, I WANT to do this and there are better and incredbily exciting times ahead.
Eventually I’d like to get my whole foot designed around it, hence the placement. I’m thinking something involving Daisies, but that will be one for the future.

I’m making a point to celebrate every small achievement right now…and I’ve surprised myself at just how many of those there have been.

I am so excited for the rest of my life.

((Yeah, this is one of those cryptic deep and meaningful posts, but many of you will know what it’s all about))

I’d also like to once again thank everyone for the support and cheerleading, especially my long-suffering twitter followers. You are amazing.
Actually, I could write an Oscar speech worthy list of thank yous right now.

What words do you live by?

P.S. Do you have any idea how hard it is to photograph your own foot? Apologies for the bruised and bloody look of it, I’m limping around like a trooper!

Marvellous Mocktails

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the creators of My Cocktail, asking me if I’d like to try their alcohol alternative to cocktails, Mocktails.

These are ready to drink, chilled from the pack and come in two classic cocktail flavours; Woo Woo and Pina Colada. A fun alternative to fruit juice for the non-drinkers, they are also marketed as a lower calorie beverage! You can also add alcohol to the mixes for an easy cocktail.

I’m not a big drinker, I enjoy the occasional g&t and that’s about it, but these intrigued me. In the end though I passed them on to best friend, Trudi, more of a Cocktail conniseur than me to see how they really compared to the alcoholic version!

(I will note I was very impressed with the packaging of these, bright and eye-catching and clearly labelled as alcohol free).

Here are Trudi’s thoughts:

Woo Woo- “Love this one, it reminds me of uni and sharing pitchers of Woo Woo. It tastes like the actual cocktail, and as well as trying it straight I also added some Archers (I had no Vodka) which was an experiment that ended well!”

Pina Colada- “This had a really strong pineapple taste and would also be fab with some added Rum to compliment the coconut”

“My Dad also enjoyed these, especially the Woo Woo which shows how these are set to appeal to all age groups. Adding alcohol didn’t change the taste much meaning the non-drinkers won’t feel like they are missing out- they’d be great for a house party, picnic, or just chilling out on a Summer day”.

My Mocktail is available from Asda priced at RRP £2.49 for a 1 litre tetrapack. For more information on Mocktails and the rest of the My Cocktail range you can check out the website here.

They also have a facebook page; perfect for letting them know what you think or picking up tips on how to enjoy!

Ice Cool Maggie Angus

I have a lot of love for penguins (my friends adopted me one at the local zoo for my 18th Birthday!) so when jewellery creator Maggie Angus tweeted these gorgeous earrings I was straight in there with my admiration. When the lovely lady offered to send me a pair I practically wet myself with joy, and when they arrived yesterday out came my (faux) pearl studs and in went these little chaps who I feel deserve names (suggestions)

These aren’t up on the website yet, but soon will be as part of a collection full of all things frosty called “sub zero”. If penguins aren’t your thing then fear not, there is plenty more to choose from! Being new season, a couple of new collections have just launched and my picks from those are shown above.

1. Dolly Bracelet, £16 – toooo cute! It also comes in gold.

2. Gold Flapper Dancer Necklace, £24– bringing a touch of old school glamour.

3. Tailor’s Necklace, £24– perfect for you crafty girls!

I’ve loved watching Maggie Angus go from strength to strength over the last few years and always love a cheeky browse of her site, especially when it comes to gift shopping!
Which is your favourite item?
