sod it

Topshop (tall) trousers, Primark top, Timeless shoes c/o Sarenza.

Every so often I just can’t be bothered to think of what to wear and resort to the “old me” of several years ago and my uniform of trousers and some kind of top.
I never feel 100% comfortable when wearing this kind of outfit, it reminds me of a time where I didn’t know what a hair brush was and my idea of a fashionable top consisted of it having a cartoon cat on the front….
but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures, and actually, these trousers are growing on me.

What does your “sod it” outfit look like?

Blast from the past with Skin Art

The first time I used temporary tattoos I was five years old and they featured the power rangers. A few years on, further in to the 1990s when everyone was flashing their body jewellery I experimented a bit more, although those were those odd plastic choker type affairs in celtic designs.

Fast forward a few years and things have changed for the better Skin Art recently got in touch asking me if I’d like to take a look at their range of products, and as I’m considering getting another real tattoo (I have four so far) I thought it a good chance to try out some potential designs.
Skin Art is a collection of beautifully illustrated temporary tattoos, and sparkling glitter tattoos. First launched in 2011 as a limited edition Christmas line, Skin Art flew off the shelves and became a complete sell out in a matter of weeks. Following on from this success, Skin Art ihas launched a brand new collection that has been created for an instant festival / rock star look, with zero commitment.
The temporary tattoo designs are simple to apply using a water / transfer method, and the glitter tattoos are created using loose glitter and stencils, with simple step by steps for a flawless finish. The tattoos can last for up to five days, depending on the design, where it is applied and your skin type. The full range consists of 3 temporary tattoo kits, a sparkling glitter tattoo kit, plus a set of additional stencil designs. Available exclusively from Boots and Boots.com.

As you can see, I was sent quite a variety, my favourite being the “I’m a dreamer” collection.

The tattoos are super simple to apply and are really effective. They last up to five days, depending on where you apply them and what your skin type is which is the perfect amount of time to see if a design is really “you” or for a few days away…a festival perhaps?

I was really impressed by these, and as a pack retails at £7.99 and you get loads of designs I think they are excellent value for money, too. I’m looking forward to experimenting further over the summer and hopefully settling on my new piece of ink.

What are your opinion on tattoos; temporary or not?

Skirt H&M, Blouse Next, Tights from Superdrug, Shoes Bertie c/o Sarenza.

Bonus shot of Mae demolishing a toy mouse.

This is the first year I can remember where I haven’t had a summer or winter wardrobe; I haven’t even bothered to change things over as the weather has been so rubbish and it is leaving me both confused and feeling…dowdy?! I’m not sure…wearing shapeless knits in July and winter shoes rather than pretty sandals with bare legs is making my already shaky confidence sink that little bit lower.

But c’est la vie, we have to make the best of what we’re given. I may not be overly happy with the clothes, but I DO love the shoes!

What are you doing wardrobe wise right now? I feel I should make more effort but I really, really just can’t be bothered lately…even shopping is a bit depressing; seeing summer frocks that it’s too damn cold and rainy to wear?! No ta.

Hair How-To with John Frieda

All I’m missing is some skill. I need a personal hairdresser, it’s a sad fact of life.

wedged in

Spy Love Buy kindly sent me these wedge heel trainers after I proclaimed my love for them on a wishlist post a couple of weeks ago. When I first saw the trend for heeled trainers I hated it but after seeing more and more people wearing it, and wearing it well I started to covet a pair for myself. The wedge on this pair is subtle; from the outside you can’t really see it, and I doubt whether many people would notice it is there. I like that- you get the added height without standing out too much, and importantly (I can tell I’m getting old) the shoes themselves are really comfortable…tried and tested with a seafront walk.

I wore these for the first time on Sunday with my trust (and cheap) Zara denim skirt and a top from New Look. The fact these are trainers with heels makes me want to push the boundaries a little more and experiment with how I wear them…this is probably the closest I will get to the sports luxe trend that seems to be taking over.

Have you worn the wedge? How would you style them? Give me ideas people…I’m so out of inspiration lately.
