Rock on with Weston Scarves

You may remember my last post about Richard Weston Scarves and since then the small label has gone from strength to strength.

Harvey Nichols is the exclusive stockist of a new range of printed silk tanks from the man described as fashion’s most unexpected new design star – Professor Richard Weston. By scanning rocks, minerals, fossils and natural elements; the award-winning designer, architect, author and media personality has created a stunning range of tanks in eye-popping designs – bringing a fresh and unique take on this season’s digital print trend.
The vibrant collection will be available in store and online from early March.
All tops are priced at £110.
These look like THE perfect top for Spring/Summer… the shape and prints on these mean I can see them working equally well for day and for night! If you could own just one of them, which would it be? For me it’d have to be the third one down, LOVE.

bread, milk, dress

This might just be my favourite dress of the year so far; and it only cost £12 from George at Asda! I’m not one to follow trends as such, and I certainly never expected to follow the “scarf” print one, but when I saw the dress (and the price) I couldn’t leave it behind.

Worn with I Love Shoes boots c/o Sarenza for a manic Monday at work.

I had a good mooch around the highstreet shops with my Mum yesterday; lots around that I love and covet but everything seems SO expensive, and some of the materials out there right now are just horrible…oh, and every damn top/blouse I have liked is either cropped length or practically see through…WHY?!

What’s your best supermarket find?

everyday ethical with Komodo

A few weeks ago a brand called Komodo got in touch with me to explain a bit more about what they do and how they do it. I recognised the name as one I’d heard of maybe a year or more ago, but it had kind of drifted off my radar, so I was keen to find out how they had progressed; and indeed, they have progressed.

Komodo uses the most ethical and eco-friendly materials at affordable prices, showing that style and an ethical conscience can go hand-in-hand. They offered to loan me some samples so I could get a proper feel for the brand myself, and have a go at styling them up…except when they arrived, I decided I didn’t want to style them per say; I mean, I’m not a stylist, just a twenty-something year old girl who lives a normal life and wants her clothes to fit in with that. Hence the outfits above…really, nothing different to what I’d usually wear, except this time the clothes are ethical and not my own.

The shift dress was a dream, beautifully cut and not a hint of stiffness in the fabric (something I used to expect from ethical fashions)…and the t-shirt, well, I’m not a t-shirt girl, you know that…but teamed with ASOS velvet shorts just to test out the fit, I was impressed at the quality and attention to detail; not to mention the on trend tribal print; jeans and a tee girls, this one is for you!

The winner here, for me (and sadly the worst photographed) is the trousers. It’s well documented by now, my saga with trousers and it is with a very heavy heart that I’ll be sending these back. I’ve never looked much further than New Look or Topshop for trousers, believing that only well known retailers would cater for my needs…and certainly never thought of looking somewhere that only sold ethical fashions. Komodo I owe you an apology, and a pat on the back…from the super comfy waistband to the exquisite cut of this trousers, as soon as I have the pennies to afford the (not un-affordable) price tag of £65 these will be mine.

A bit of a waffle filled and in-eloquent post from me. But what I am trying to say is check out Komodo , cast aside any preconceived notions of hessian sacks and tie-dye and be prepared to be impressed.

hellos

A few weeks ago I was contacted on behalf of Ellos asking if I’d like to take a closer look at what they have to offer. Ellos was yet another of those places to shop that I probably hadn’t have heard of if it wasn’t for blogging and of course I was curious.

I had a good long browse through the website and was impressed at the range of what they had to offer, as well as the fabulous prices…but of course, what I was really drawn to was the shoes, and I opted for these brown  boots which arrived the other day.
These are what I call “spring boots”. Not so clunky and chunky as is required for winter, but still more durable than a sandal or ballet flat. Comfort wise I put these to the test by stomping around Cabot Circus in them and that alone won then a special place in my heart…I could have been wearing slippers for the amount of comfort they provided. Nice one Ellos.

And what was I doing stomping around town on a Sunday? Well, that would be stocking up on roasted chickpeas with Ellie (we were recognised by the staff in Holland and Barrett…but come one, buy one get one half price?!) and getting an impulsive ear piercing…I was going to get a Rook piercing but wimped out and went for something more simple on my right ear, as the left one is looking a little full!

Have you heard of Ellos, or will you be taking a closer look in future?

Got a Rook piercing? What is it like to heal?

Well, Monday morning work calls…5 days to the weekend!
