pink to make the boys wink

Next dress, Tesco tights, New Look boots.

You know you are growing up when Next is the first shop you head to when you need work clothes! Everything I’ve had from there has been top quality and a damn good fit…they have some gorgeous stuff in stock right now, I have a wish list as long as my legs.

I wore this to survive an absolutely manic Monday at work; the very reason I have Tuesday as my day off! Today is my beloved Grandad’s birthday so today will be spent baking (another batch of the muffins I made Sunday, recipe to come) and spending time with him.

Where is your go-to shop for affordable workwear? This dress was Β£32 which I deem reasonable for a classic!

  1. This dress is gorgeous, I love the detail on the front. I like Next, Zara and M&S for work clothes – I try to avoid anything that’s dry-clean only everything from those stores is machine washable. Saying that makes me feel really, really old! x

  2. Love the front of that dress and that colour looks lovely on you.

  3. that dress is beautiful and I adore your shoes πŸ™‚ Me and my mumma love next, the stuff is always gorgeous, good quality and usually reasonable priced.
have a lovely day with your gdad and happy bday to him πŸ˜€

  14. I have a pretty relaxed work dress code so my work clothes can come from anywhere but Next is pretty high on the list. I love so many things in their new SS12 collection… I’ve already treated myself to two jumper – one with a huge red heart on the front which I <3

  15. Laura you look lovely, that colour really suits you too. I had a look around Next with a house-mate recently and they do have some really pretty clothes in there. xxx

  18. You look amazing dear!
gorgeous blog! Following! Follow back? <3

  19. Love that dress on you! Very cute! I don’t know that I have a go-to for work clothes, but I work in an industry where I can dress however I like, so have actually found a lot of the clothes I bought fresh out of uni thinking ‘I’ll wear these trousers/dress shirt/sensible shoes’ aren’t needed. Although, having said that, I do wear an awful lot of dresses by choice, so maybe looks like I’m dressing up for work. ^.^

  20. I do like Next for workwear but Zara also has some really good things too. The dress I wore for my interview is from Next so I like to think it’s lucky πŸ˜‰ happy birthday Laura’s grandad!

  21. You looks so sophisticated and classy <3

  24. The world of workwear is pretty new to me! I can’t wait to buy lots of smart dresses/tops/trousers ready for teaching in September.
This dress is lovely, I love the colour, so bold!

  25. Love the dress and I love Next too, they’ve really stepped up their game and have got some really classic stuff in. For work wear I really mix it up but Mango and Zara are really great for stylish, quality tailoring at reasonable prices.

    Fab outfit πŸ™‚

  26. This is such a lovely outfit on you!

  28. Looking beautiful again darling, your co-workers must love seeing & guessing what you will be wearing everyday – I know I do & I don’t even get to see it in person.

Agree with the ‘adult’ feeling of Next, I love it though as they do some lovely knitwear etc & extra little bits & bobs.

  29. Gorgeous dress on you! Saw something similiar in Primark yesterday but it wasn’t as fitted as yours. Wish I was as tall as you as most formal dresses swamp me cos I’m petite. Agree Next is awesome for work clothes, great quality – my fave ever pencil skirt is from there and is still going strong several years later. x

  30. Happy Birthday to your Grandad πŸ™‚

  37. You look lovely and that colour really suits you.

I love Tesco, Asda and H&M for cheaper stuff. Zara for a wee bit pricer. xx

  38. You look fab in that dress it’s perfect “workwear thats smart but not too stuffy”. I have to wear a uniform which is good and bad…..but I love it so that helps! x

  39. I love the colour of the dress with your hair, reminds me of Joan from Mad Men!

I work in a creative office so I never get the opportunity to wear ‘workwear’…good in some ways but it’d be nice not to feel overdressed in a collared shirt! x

  40. That dress looks lovely on you! I don’t need many work clothes at the moment but I will next year. I think when the time comes to stock up on work appropriate clothes I will head to Zara.

  45. Now that;s my shade of pink! I’m really terrible with buying work clothes, I tend to try to work my casual everyday wear into my work outfits, although recently I’ve been wearing black jeans with all my work tops. It’s too cold for tights and dresses and I HATE work trousers with an absolute passion.

  46. That dress is really lovely. I know what you mean about Next being for grown ups haha. I actually own a few things from there now but they really do cater for the younger trends too which I really like. The dress is a lovely colour on you!

  47. I love that dress, definetly a classic and investment piece xxx

  48. This colour suits you so so much! And It looks perfect for work.
