Totally in to Tartan

It seems like my resolve to go for a minimalist black themed approach for this season has gone right out of the window;
sure, it’s still a main player but another trend has crept in…it started last winter with the purchase of a vintage kilt style skirt on ebay and has since evolved in to a full blown obsession.
Damn you tartan, damn you.
I’m still on the hunt for the perfect tartan dress- I have one for out of work but I wish for something smarter, too. On my search I seem to have found rather a few skirts that I now wish were mine. Sadly I’m not a billionaire so I’m going to share my pain here instead.
Every time a Boden catalogue drops through my door or I find myself once again browsing their website I get a strong craving for their British Tweed Kilt

Ok, it’s not a skirt but this Vivienne Westwood bag has found it’s way on to my wish list too. And at £320 from Selfridges it will stay firmly there.

This Check Pencil skirt from Dorothy Perkins ticks all the right boxes for office wear. Except for the fact it’s a pencil skirt and I don’t *do* pencil skirts (ever tried running up stairs in an emergency in one?) but at £22 it’s an utter bargain.

Sticking to the bargain theme, at £17.99 this Navy and Green New Look number is a real temptation. It’s a shame they don’t carry it in the tall range though. I’d rather pay a few extra pounds and not lose my dignity. I remember the days when the high street used to cut skirts and dresses to a decent length.

Last and by no means least, it wouldn’t be a wish list post without a feature from ASOS, would it? At £40 I think I might have just found *the* office skirt. You know, once I’ve been paid and all that. Too much month and  too little money. My twitter and facebook read like shopping lists…the less I have the more I want.
The hunt for a smart dress continues.
Are you tickled by tartan?

Magpie Eye- body jewellery shop

Something a little bit different for my jewellery wish list today- it’s probably quite clear from the picture above that I’m a fan of ear piercings and therefore earrings. Whilst it’s simple to find a huge array of studs, hoops and chandeliers for your standard lobe piercings it’s much, much harder to find unique adornments for places like the rook and tragus.
For a while now I’ve been browsing Body Jewellery Shop and it was mere coincidence that they e-mailed me asking if I’d like to blog about them as I had been browsing only an hour or so beforehand.
They were kind enough to send me a couple of little gifts, my star tragus stud came c/o them as well as the most delicate silver hummingbird and some nose studs. The website is vast, stocking everything from your standard lobe piercing through to flesh plugs and tunnels (as well as some places I’d rather not think about piercing)
I’m in my element browsing this site, seriously. Everything is so well organised, either by piercing site or by material. This was really handy when shopping for something for my Mum- she’s allergic to most things other than titanium and BioFlex or PTFE jewellery so it was fantastic to be able to narrow things down straight away as well as get some information about the materials.
Piercings may not be for everyone, my Grandad for one gives me the silent treatment whenever I present with a new hole but for me, well, I love them on ears at least. I’ll probably stop now. My rook piercing was the most painful I’ve had and I’m running out of room, but never say never. I’ll just have fun stocking up on jewellery for the piercings I do have…and at Body Jewellery Shop’s prices I don’t need to hold back!
What’s your stance on piercings? Any horror stories to tell? How many do you have?

The Luxe List- The Watch Gallery

Hurrah! It’s Friday and what better way to celebrate than with a “totally out of my budget but I want it anyway” kind of wish list?
I’m forever craving items I can never afford and one of the items I always navigate towards (as I’ve mentioned before) is watches. This wish list comes courtesy of The Watch Gallery and you can blame me later if I’ve left you with serious cravings!
This Frederique Constance watch is classy and elegant- everything I look for in my dream watch. However with a price tag of £1.600 it will have to remain a dream!

This Gucci watch seems a bargain compared to the above price tag, coming in at £665. I love how edgy yet classical this is, it fits perfectly with my A/W style and I can’t see it ever dating. Doesn’t mean I can buy it though, dammit.

Another “will never date” classic is this beauty from the legendary Tag Heuer watches. It’s probably best not to mention the price but should I ever come in to millions this would be one of the first accessories I buy.

Last but not least is another Gucci beauty. Another relative bargain at £560 I just love this and don’t really see a need to explain why- the proof is in the picture!

Are you as much of a luxury watch fiend as I am? What would be your dream dial?

Magpie Eye- Dogeared at ASOS

My magpie like tendency to home in on anything shiny has led me to lusting after this gorgeous little bracelet from the new and exclusive to ASOS Dogeared collection.
I’ve always loved Dogeared’s delicate and meaningful designs so to hear they had come up with an exclusive collection for one of my all time favourite retailers was pretty damn exciting.
The collection compromises of 9 pieces- four necklaces, two bracelets and three sets of earrings with prices starting at £32
The collection is available now on ASOS. If you were planning on getting me a Christmas present then this would be a good start 😉
Which is your favourite piece?
