Booty Call

For quite a few years the shoe shop Charles Clinkard somewhat passed me buy. It’s a shop I had regularly walked past when at the Mall at Cribbs Causeway but it wasn’t until I met someone who worked there that I actually paid it any attention.
I’ve been having a browse recently as my boot affections are shifting from the ankle boot to a high legged style. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll forever love the ankle boot but for now it’s the longer the better.
Of course, there are also several hundered pairs of ankle boots I could share too, there always is, but today it’s about the long and lean. I do own one pair of longer length boots but seeing these makes me resent them a little bit for their lack of refinement and character.
I must stop window shopping on my afternoons off, I really must.

Tying the Knot with I Love A Lassie

I’m a bit like a magpie with an affection for all things shiney, so when I heard about I Love A Lassie on twitter I wasted no time in checking them out and falling head over heels for their Knotted String collection.
According to the website the collection isn’t just about a gorgeous design, it has meaning too:
“The old cliche’ “tying the knot” has been around for centuries and for good reason; around the world Knots symbolise love, loyalty, friendship and unity. Knots were used as jewelry in primitive times, and I Love a Lassie’s delicate designs are a salute to this tradition. Hand-cast in a range of finishes including 18K yellow gold, rose gold vermeil, sterling silver and black rhodium these unique pieces make the perfect gift for a friend or loved one”.
I’m even more attracted to jewellery with a meaning and so without further ado I introduce to you my favourite pieces from the collection:
Prices range from £35 for a pair of stud earrings and vary depending on which metal you choose. I’ve got my eye on the Black Rhodium Knotted Ring which costs £95. The simplicity and meaning of the design sits perfectly with the statement metal and it’s something I’d wear every day, therefore making it excellent value for money, right?!
P.S. I Love A Lassie is a Scottish brand born and bred, hurrah for supporting UK trade!

M&S Introduce the Multi Way Dress

It’s January, payday is still three weeks away, I’m broke already and yet I still want to shop.
My wardrobe is bursting at the seams (and yet I have nothing to wear). I want quality over quanity. I really can’t shop right now,
or can I?
The clever folks at Marks and Spencer know times are tougher and that people are moving away from fast fashion (I’m trying to)
They’ve just launched a brand new dress to the market. Part of their Collection range the Slinky Multi Way Dress costs £55 and can be worn in an impressive 5 different ways- cap sleeved, halter, strapless, asymmetric and cross over back.

Also available in gunmetal and black this is THE most hardoworking dress I’ve seen and would be perfect for taking you from office to bar.

Mad about the Bag

Since setting my heart on a Mulberry Bayswater bag some years ago (and fingers crossed one will be purchased this year) I’ve always had bags on the brain. Not quite as much as I do shoes; that would be quite impossible, but enough so that I’m often drawn to the handbag section of a website before I browse any other part (unless shoes are involved of course).
The other day during my daily browse of the sales I came across Diffusion Online and their beautiful bag selection. I’ve put together a little wishlist, just because wishlists have been lacking of late, really…not because I secretly want to buy all these for myself.
I’ll start with the most affordable (and possibly my most coveted. The Minkpink Modern Love satchel at £39.00, perfect for chasing off those winter blues.

This little beauty is by Ted Baker. I have a real soft spot for Ted Baker bags- a legacy passed on from my Mother, I’m sure. It costs £150 which isn’t toooo bad considering what you can pay for some bags and will never go out of style.

I probably don’t need to introduce the designer of this bag, the signature orb gives it away straight off. The Dolce Vita in Crimson is another one of those bags which has long been on my most coveted list, and at £417.00 in the sale it’ll have to stay there for now, sadly as my money is going towards the Mulberry.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs bag is very similar to one I own already. An impulse sales by a couple of years ago that I never regretted. Sadly the strap has broken and we are yet to find somewhere who will repair it (the brand themselves won’t as it’s past season). It was a brilliant bag though and if this should ever go in the sale (currently £325.00) I’d seriously consider getting a replacement.

Another from Ted Baker and not strictly a handbag. Mum already owns one of these Umbrella Ikon bags in pink (this one is £34.00) and they are invaluable for carrying around handbag overspill. Umbrellas, bottles of water, spare shoes. You name it, it’s been used for it. I love the floral print of this and might pop one of my own on my birthday list.

What are your weak spots when it comes to accessories? I can take or leave most things, but bags and shoes I just can’t help oogling even though I own more than enough already!

A little British Watch Company Wishlist

Well, here is a website with a misleading (in a good way) name. British Watch Company doesn’t just sell watches as the name may suggest but a whole array of gorgeous jewellery and accessories too. With so much time off work I’ve had far too much time to look in to such things and create little wishlists. Or not so little wishlists. It’s an addiction, I admit I am totally hooked.

I just love the simplistic design of this Fossil Bangle (£46.99). If it was mine it would never leave my wrist, it’s one of those timeless pieces that go with just about every outfit (perhaps not my current standard of onesie and slippers by 3pm!)

Another classic from Fossil, £149.00. I’ve spent many a shopping trip having a browse in the Fossil shop in Cabot Circus, their bags are timeless and beautiful. This one is one of those “chuck everything in it but still look chic” type bags….the type I most need in my life!

I thought I probably ought to add a watch or two to my wishlist too, given the name of the website and it’s main focus…I got a bit sidetracked by everything else on offer! I love how feminine this Ted Baker watch is, the pink and rose gold just work beautifully. It’s one for the Christmas list though as it costs almost £80.

Last but by no means least I return to my favourite brand of all for watches and jewellery, Guess. I’m not usually one for watches with massive dial detail but this somehow looks subtle at the same time. Another for the “in my dreams” list at £148.00 but maybe one day eh?

I love being surprised by a website, you go in with an expectation based on name or reputation and then discover something else entirely. This is exactly what’s happened with British Watch Company and I’ll be saving my pennies for a little Guess splurge in the New Year.
Have you ever had this with a website? Do share your discoveries.
