Spread some Joy

There are some shops that will always stick in my memory. When I was at college (back in the day) I used to trek all the way up Park Street just to visit Joy and torture myself with the most gorgeous products that I just couldn’t afford. I used to live for their sales when I could perhaps indulge in one dress or a couple of trinkets for my bedroom and even now it’s a place I associate with luxurious browsing rather than serious shopping.
Joy have just launched a collection of 20 new season online exclusive pieces to give us a taste of what’s to come for next season from their in-house brand Louche. There are some seriously amazing garments among this collection and I’ve popped together a list of my favourites below.
To get details and prices of any of the pieces just hover over the photos. My absolute favourites from this selection have to be the sixties inspired Benecia Dress and the beautifully detailed pink Angel Top (just check out that detailed back). I can’t wait to see what else lands in store/online for the season ahead, I know I’ll be saving pennies hard to treat myself to a piece or two…
You can view the whole collection online, do let me know what you’ve got your eye on!
I couldn’t resist a browse in the gifts section whilst checking out the new collection. I’ve found myself really rather taken with this salt and pepper shaker set too, although that kind of thing has to wait until Ben and I get a place of our own (and he doesn’t get a say in whether we have these or not!)

Summer Suitcase Essentials with M&S

I don’t (yet) have a Summer Holiday booked, but if I did then I would totally be heading to Marks and Spencer for my capsule holiday wardrobe. Easy separates in flattering styles and bold colours are the order of the day and I’ve popped just a few of my favourites below- you know, just torture myself about my lack of plans that little bit more (and maybe provide some inspiration for you lovely people).
Hover over any of the images to get more details and the prices, and head to the M&S website to get buying (or in store, of course!). I’m utterly obsessed with the Limited Edition Tailored Pleated Shorts which are also smart enough, in my eyes to fit in to a Summer working wardrobe too. Also high on my wish list are the Studded T-Bar Sandals in their beautiful canary yellow. I’m not lucky enough to be able to pull off yellow when it comes to clothing, but with shoes anything goes!
Which pieces have caught your eye and what do you count as a suitcase essential? For me it’s easy separates that work for day and night, from beach to bar.

Sarenza Sunday: Peace & Love

Far be it from me to detract your attention away from Sarenza’s incredible array of shoes, but as I have mentioned once or twice (or a billion) times before they also do a rather fabulous selection of handbags too. Despite now owning the bag of my dreams in my Mulberry Bayswater I still find my attentions wandering a little bit, especially when beauties like the one I’m about to show you come along…
Hello Peace & Love Bowling Bag by Love Moschino, you thing of beauty. In general I’m not drawn to anything in the colour red, I don’t know why but that’s just how I roll. I make exception for this bag though, this super sweet bowling bag with it’s smooth, clean lines and adorable cut out heart (also available in the reverse colour way). At £170 it’s a pretty major investment (I saved for years for my Mulberry) but also kind of a bargain too as the black cut out background is actually a little purse. Still, it’s going to have to stay firmly on my wish list for the foreseeable future as I have a lot of other things that need money spending on them first but I will be keeping my beady eye out for the next Sarenza sale as I’ve snapped up handbags for a fraction of the original price in the past.
What do you think of this little cutie?

Fantasy Sales Shop: French Connection

It’s sale season once again- no longer reserved just for Boxing Day it seems stores now offer year round reductions in some form or another. The Summer sales excite me more than the Winter ones to be honest, more wearable pieces- not just rejected party wear. There are some shops that even with the lure of half price I can’t really afford to shop at, French Connection being one of them but it won’t stop me browsing and wishing I had pennies in my pocket.
I just love everything about this jumpsuit, from the gorgeous shade of candy pink to the wide legs- totally perfect for a touch of old school glamour at a Summer soiree.
Also perfect for a fancy warm weather party is the divine poppy printed silk maxi dress, it’s still quite pricey but would also be a great lightweight piece to pack for a holiday as well…beach goddess style.
I have a bit of an affection for the pink and green colour combination so I would pair either of these pieces with the lola bucket bag for some stylish Summer storage. How gorgeous is that pistachio shade?
It wouldn’t be a Laura-style wish list without some fabulous shoes now would it? I have never actually tried shoes from French Connection before (give me a shout if you have) but I am drawn to both the Octavia and the Wendy styles which would go perfectly with my above picks as well as my final dress crush (well, final for this post!)
Has anything caught your eye?

crazy for co-ords

If you follow my twitter you might have seen my vague ramblings about actually really rather liking the co-ord trend that’s knocking about at the moment. I’m yet to invest though, as most of the prints I’ve loved have involved a body-con skirt, or a cropped top, or both and those things just aren’t me at the best of times let alone when sporting something so bold. It seems though that I might have found the perfect trio of sets that will see me take the plunge when I’m ever a) able to narrow it down and b) actually be able to afford to shop again! Behold…
These sets are all from new to me shop, Wishbone who have a seriously covetable catalogue of pieces available. After much time spent browsing, and adding things to my virtual basket only to have to empty it again, I picked these three sets (or six individuals) as my co-ord shortlist.
Sadly for me, Wishbone does not run cheap, each piece I’ve picked is around the £50-£80 mark, so the cost of each set is double that, eek! Still, I’m trying to be more about quality over quantity and one day, when I’m not on a spending ban one day and raiding Primark the next I’ll save up some pennies and invest.
Which set would you choose? Have you taken on the co-ord trend? Link me to your outfits below!
