Fashionable Fuel; 9 bars

9 bars aren’t a new product, they’ve been around for a while and enjoyed many a time by myself and thousands of others.
They’ve recently had a bit of a makeover, and a taste of the high life as they fuelled back-stage at the Erdem fashion show during LFW.

“Taking place in a futuristic fashion iglu in Manchester Square the collection showed a departure from the floral prints so synonymous with previous seasons and saw an introduction of python, whilst holding on to the feminine silhouettes for which the designer has become famous. Backstage the models, crew and hair and makeup teams were fuelled through the spectacular show by the latest must have for fashion week – 9bars. These delicious, seed based snack bars are chock full of slow release energy to keep the fashionistas fuelled throughout the busy morning of prep and the tension of the show itself, and being full of seeds they even help keep the models looking their best thanks to the high levels of omega oils which keep skin, hair and nails healthy – a real must have during a frantic fashion week!

The 9bar range is available from Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Morrison’s, Holland & Barrett and independent health food stores nationwide. All varieties are available in 4 x 40g multi packs, RRP £1.89, and in 50g singles, RRP 70p”
The folk at 9 bar were kind enough to send me a few samples to try too, although my endorsement can’t compare to high flying fashionistas!
My personal favourites are the Pumpkin bar (the sweeter, lighter bar in the range with no carob topping, these make a great breakfast on the run), and the Original, jam packed full of seeds and goodness with a great contrasting texture thanks to the smooth carob topping.

The bars are handmade in Wales and so good for you it’s unreal. The bars are all gluten, dairy and wheat free so perfect for pretty much everyone and brilliant for stashing in your handbag for a hectic day!

Have you tried 9bars before? Which is your favourite?

Mid-week munching

Just over a year ago I reviewed Total’s new split pots and when they announced they were launching a new flavour and offered to send me some I jumped at the chance!

Newly launched Raspberry and Pomegranate promises fat free smooth and remarkably creamy yoghurt with a hefty dollop of smooth and fruity raspberry and pomegranate compote. With under 145 calories per pot and packed with protein these make the perfect snack for any time of day!

I’m not actually a pomegranate lover…the seeds make me cringe. I do love the flavour though so the fact that this is smooth was a real winner for me. Raspberries have long been a favourite fruit so I knew that side of the combo was going to be a winner!

These yoghurts did not dissapoint. I’ve tried many a brand of UK Greek yoghurts and Total will forever be the one I return to. Check out your nearest supermarket for these babies and let me know what you think…they get a Daisy rating of 10/10 and endorsement as the perfect summer snack!

Are you a Total fan?

jealous

How fabulous does this stack of sweets look? Kindly sent to me from the lovely folk at Jealous, a company that specialise in irresistible guilt-free sweets.

“What makes them so special?” I hear you ask…well; they contain nothing artificial for starters, they also contain no gelatine making them suitable for vegetarians and those following a kosher or halal diet. All of the sweets are certified by the Vegetarian Society so you can be assured they must be good! The sweets are also organic and gluten free, and there is a sugar free range available too!

Tempted? I would be! These sweets are insanely good, especially the cola bottles. If you don’t believe me and simply must try for yourself then you can find a list of stockists here or pay a visit to the online shop. What I really like is the Pick ‘n Gift section where you can make the ultimate personalised sweet gift for someone you love (and yes, that does include yourself!)

For an even sweeter deal, hop along to the jealous life facebook page, click like and score yourself 50% off your first pick ‘n gift order…

I think that’s pretty good right?

Snackaddicted

First there was my popcorn obsession (still going), followed by roasted chickpeas (also still going strong) and then Popchips had to go and launch themselves in the UK.

Long gone has my sweet tooth, these days I’m all about the savoury, and these things are just…AMAZING! I first picked up a couple of packs in my local Waitrose, but the kind folks at Popchips also sent me a box to review after I rather enthusiastically stalked them on Twitter…I intended to snap a photo of the box (it was awesome) but greed got in the way.

“you say crisp. we say chip.
we all say delicious.

never fried. never baked. our potato chips are popped (like popcorn). with all the flavour and less than half the fat of fried crisps and less than 100 calories per serving, you’ll taste why they’re winning awards (and acclaim) throughout america.

the magic of popping

popping is a way of making our naturally delicious chips. we start with the finest potatoes, add a little heat and pressure, along with a little snack magic and pop! it’s a chip. then we add all-natural seasoning for a snack so tasty you won’t even notice it’s (we hesitate to say) healthier. pop open a bag of popchips and try for yourself. everybody has a favourite. or two.

naturally delicious. nothing fake or phony.

our all-natural pledge: no fake colours, no fake flavours, no preservatives, no fluorescent orange fingertips, and no wiping your greasy chip hand on your jeans. no really. we only use ingredients you can feel good about eating and we leave out the bag stuff like hydrogenated oils and msg that give snacking a bad name. because popchips have no preservatives, make sure to get a good chip clip after opening the bag to keep our popped chips fresh. or better yet, just eat them all at once.”

Out of the four flavours, my favourite is probably the salt and pepper variety, although all of them are really bloody good! somewhere out there exists and a salt and vinegar variety, but so far no luck with getting that one.
Have you tried these yet? if you have a Waitrose near you, hurry on down as these babies are on offer until the 10th of April…I’ve been buying (in bulk)
