affordable vintage from covert candy

Hello everyone, welcome to the middle of the week! I hope its been a good one so far? It’s still bloody cold here, but I’m adapting 😉
Finally got in to town Christmas shopping today. Please don’t hate me, but I only have three more presents left to buy
(and no money left!)

I know a lot of us are vintage fans, and I also know it can get very expensive, so I wanted to bring www.covertcandy.co.uk and their vintage shop to your attention as a one stop place for swapping the clothes you don’t wear for credits to buy ones you will, and their seperate online shop for cheap vintage clothes

I’ve been a member of covert candy for some time now and really love the site. I’ve had some great items from there, and have felt better about culling my unworn clothes, knowing they’ve gone to a good home.
The vintage shop is great, with loads of variety for really, really reasonable prices. Where I live, the only vintage shop is a teeny tiny one of the highstreet and it jacks prices up so much, that I often go in there feeling I’ve walked in to Selfridges or something (not that we have such shops in my sleepy little village!)

All the vintage items on covert candy are hand selected from vintage wholesalers in Paris, and they have fresh batches arrive approximatley every month. You can sign up for e-mail alerts of new arrivals as soon as they arrive.

So
go check it out, and sign up for the clothes swap too. We might end up with each other’s clothes 😉

Outfit wise, I’ve done something I swore I never would and bought a pair of “jeggings” although the ones I got, from New Look are the thickness and quality of a pair of skinny jeans, in my opinion, just with an elasticated waist.

Not bad for £15!

Monday Morning

Happy Monday lovely people, its cold and gloomy outside today, I still need a lamp on to see my laptop keyboard and it’s 2:37pm. Insanity. I hate when you get up in the morning and fall over your feet/mess on your bedroom floor/sleeping cat trying to find the light switch.

I had to brave the cold, though thankfully dry outdoors to make my way to a doctors appointment. As such, my outfit featured more layers than shown, but I only photographed the basics. Who wants to see plain cardigans or my winter coat huh?

I originally had green tights on, but brown went better with the dress and the boots I wore.

My shopping urges are still going strong, and on my way home from my appointment I ended up buying a jumper dress from New Look (see here)I justified it by using a 20% off voucher, making it £16. Thankfully the teeeeny tiny store in my town didn’t have much sale stock, or else I’d have been in trouble!
I also walked out of the supermarket (having only popped in to get a drink) with 2 bags of Haribo and a bag of mini fruitellas. Oops.

I hope everyone has a great week,
don’t forget to check out my jewellery in the post below 😉

New Look TV

With all the talk of New Look lately, I thought I’d share episode three of New Look TV

New Look also have a mid-season sale on right now,
so its the perfect time to treat yourself…like I plan to tomorrow 😉
(I seem to have serious shopping mania at the moment)

That’s it for today, I’m tired after an exhausting week. Back to usual outfit posting etc next week.

I also wanted to add,
thank you very much, all of you for the thoughts and well wishes about Ron, the guinea pig.
He passed away last night/this morning, and yes, I am incredibly upset, but there is relief too, after seeing him suffering yesterday (oddly, he went downhill after visitng the vet, I think the car journey stressed him out).

I’ll answer at least some of the questions you lot asked tomorrow, I may have to split it in two post!

You also might be interested to know that after sorting through my tights drawer, I have 25 pairs of tights, plus the three pairs I picked up today in Primark (50p each, I couldn’t refuse!)

Now, I know a lot of you love vintage (as do I) so I wanted to share with you a fantastic vintage shop I came accross whilst procrasinating from doing what I should have been doing! I got in touch with the lovely owner Natasha Bailie to find out a bit more for us all as well.

http://www.natashabailie.com only started selling online last year and is already about to be featured in Novembers issue of Vogue showcasing her gorgeous vintage wedding dresses (which are selling out faster than she can source and stock them!)

“I like to bring my personality to my shop online as I used to love working in retail and chatting to customers. I wanted that same satisfaction selling gorgeous clothes from yesteryear online. I have my online chat button so my customers can ask me questions and have a chin wag if I am online too…which is most of the time. I chat about loads of things on my blog, vintage fashion, dresses, vintage furniture and generally just things i like or I have seen. I think it is really important for people to know who you are. I love meeting and chatting to customers and I love that they feel they can and that I am so contactable”

All the clothes featured on the website are hand sourced and quality assured. The website has a dedicated area for Vintage trends, a “Get the Look” section, A-Z of vintage and more.

My personal favourites up on the website at the moment are

This vintage style skirt (handmade)

Stunning pink dress, perfect with black tights, a belt and some boots

FAUX fur coat

Vintage boots (that just so happen to be my size if anyone is feeling generous!)

With worldwide shipping, great prices and a fantastic returns policy
(not to mention that Natasha is so enthusiastic and happy to help) go treat yourself now! This is honestly once of the nicest vintage online stores I have come accross and I’m saving up to treat myself to a dress or a bag…or shoes?! I don’t know. Something nice anyway!
