Only Fair

This Fair Isle jumper dress is last year’s from New Look and one of my favourite jumper dresses. It’s warm, it has a nice fit…and fulfills my love of all things Fair Isle (just wait until you see the tights I was bought yesterday!) Perfect for a quiet Sunday after the night before.

The bracelet is a gift from my Mum and comes from Kleshna where the money goes to a very worthy cause.

I managed to do yet more shopping yesterday, I need shopping rehab…or at least, I’m going to attempt a non-frivolous spend week (meaning food, essentials and Christmas presents only). Oh help.

Happy Halloween…what are you doing? We’re taking fun sized chocolate to work and decorating with sprinkles (I might go trick or treating on a few doctors doors…after surgery, of course!)

Snug

This jumper was purchased (as a gift from my Mum) way back in August whilst browsing in Next. It’s been languishing in my wardrobe ever since, waiting for the colder weather to arrive. Given that it’s blowing a gale outside, and I have no plans to leave the house on my day off it seemed a perfect time to finally wear it.

I love the colours and the stripes, and also the bow near the collar that my photos failed to capture. Next are really killing it right now, there is so much I want! The jumper I wore yesterday was also from there and the prices for both were very reasonable, I think £28 for this dress and £18 for the jumper. I have my eye on some brilliant work dresses, too…and don’t get me started on the shoes and boots.

I should probably note that I am in no way being sponsored by Next for this post, I’m just sharing some love right now.

I hope everyone survived Monday…chin up, four days to the weekend

P.S. Sorry for the influx of posts lately, I’m finally catching up with myself and sharing some long overdue items.

P.P.S. Giveaway going on!

Off Duty

There’s nothing better than waking up on a Monday morning (after the most perfect weekend) and realising that it’s ok to roll over and go back to sleep because you don’t have work.

Wearing Zara skirt, New Look tee and Converse c/o Sarenza

Plans for today are minimal…I might make a cake, but I might not. I’m probably/hopefully meeting a friend + her dog for some walking and talking action, and I should get on and do the work I need to do from home so I can have the rest of the week off properly work free.

Random weekend purchases (part one, Saturday)

Where’s Wally PJ bottoms, £9 Primark men.

Ollie and Nic purse, £20 (20% off).

What made your weekend great?

shopped

Nothing quite like a bit of retail therapy on your day off! I didn’t manage to get the wardrobe basics I was after…nor the skirt of dreams/knitwear from River Island (hello disappointing store at Cribbs) but I’m still pleased with my haul.
1. Jumper from Next, £18. You can’t really see but this has nude tone flecks through it. It’s just the right size of baggy; achieved by going a size up and will be perfect for work and with jeans.
2. Surprise of the day, velvet trimmed peter pan collar dress, £24 from Jane Norman. That shop really does contain some hidden gems. You do have to hunt though, there were about four things I would have worn hidden among a hell of a lot I wouldn’t.
3. Lavender cardigan, £12.99 H&M kids. The H&M at Cribbs is a mess, to put it nicely. I couldn’t find anything I had previously seen there/had seen in other Bristol stores and gave up hope in the adults range. Attracted to a Bambi jumper in the kids range and wandering over for a closer look, I found this cardi and slipped it on. All the cardigans in the regular range were either too thick or too thin, but this is the perfect mid-way knit and fits like a dream. Nice price, too!
4. Dress, £18 from Dorothy Perkins. I originally wanted a single colour one, namely the hot pink but the colour washed me out. I found this one in a promotional section reduced to £20 down from £38 (I believe) and tried it on. Love. Love love love. A flash of my NHS card secured another 10% off (I failed to print off a 25% off everything voucher)
I’m on a mission for some skinny cords, but this is turning in to a nightmare…skinny trousers in general are a nightmare for me. To fit my thighs means getting a size too big on my waist..which results in falling down trousers that even a belt won’t help…but I’m not giving up…they must exist somewhere! I’m also wanting more block coloured dresses (New Look have some great ones) and some knitwear from River Island…but that’s going to require another shopping trip, and another pay day!

shiny and new

Nothing quite like a bit of retail therapy on a Sunday to round off the weekend. I love the print on this Matalan shift dress and as ever, it was a total bargain…£12.80 with a gratefully received 20% off voucher; £16 without. My quest for basics was somewhat fulfilled by popping in to Peacocks on the off chance. At £5 each these tees are my dream material with the perfect amount of slouch. One day I WILL invest in high quality, more expensive basics, but for now these fit the bill perfectly and I’ll be going back for more colours.

The gorgeous underwear came to be via Lingerie Please for review. It was quite possibly the most impressive service ever. I replied to the e-mail fairly late on Friday and the parcel was with me Saturday morning! This leaves high hopes for future orders from the site!
I asked for something to suit the er…more flat chested among us, as in general I find bra shopping a nightmare, often resorting to the teen selections; which are fine, but not exactly the most alluring. I was sent the Panache Evanna set which promised to boost my bra size…and boost it did. Not in an “omg, where did THOSE come from?” kind of way, but enough to make tops fit better and give a subtle cleavage. I’ve dismissed water filled bras in the past, I assumed it’d look fake or be heavy/uncomfortable to wear…but I’m now a convert…the confidence boost alone makes the price tag worth it (and I’m not one to be hung up on chest size, it’s just nice to be able to wear lower cut tops without massive gaping!)
