shoes that girl?

Dress, Yumi. Tights, Tesco. Shoes, Irregular Choice c/o Sarenza.

On Sunday my parents took a little trip down to Clark’s Village (for those who don’t know, it’s an outlet shopping centre). Before they went I cheekily requested a present; expecting a treat from the Cadbury world shop there at most…
Sometimes parents surprise you though, I certainly didn’t expect them to come back with a shoe print dress for me, that fits like a dream and sums me up to a tee! Dear parents, you may go shopping more often!

(Anyone looking for a Barbour jacket should head to Clarks, my Dad picked up an amazing one for £130 instead of £200-odd)

What memorable gifts have your parents surprised you with? Good or downright odd, I want to know!

P.S. Very giveaway closes Friday

…and then I went a bit mad

Dorothy Perkins dress, Pretty Polly tights (covered in little Daisys), New Look boots.

Yesterday was lovely, freezing cold but lovely. Shopping with my Mum is always a pleasure; we have more of a best friend relationship than a mother/daughter one, and although I still live at home, we don’t often spend quality time together so this was just perfect.

Our first stop was Nails Inc for a £5 Special Effects manicure (yeah, I peeled the glitter off from Friday!)
Mum went for a magnetic polish, and I opted for blue glitter crackle over a white base.

Christmas money was spent (Nails Inc products, some work clothes) and as we popped in to Harvey Nichols to visit the food hall, we got sidetracked. By handbags.

I made the ultimate impulse purchase (and perhaps my best sales buy, ever, as it was half price at £180) by falling in love with a Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag.

Crappy instagram photo for now, but I love it!
Do I feel guilty?
A little…but I’ve saved money, since the summer of 2010 I have made considerable savings…and I’ve worked. Held down a job for a year, and made progress I’d previously never thought I could.

I’ve decided I deserve THAT bag.

I just won’t shop for a while. That’s all.

(let’s see how long that lasts!)

What’s been your best impulse buy?

learn from yesterday, live for today

Dressed top-to-toe in New Look.

For once, I don’t have much else to say. Yesterday was a fairly no-descript day that, one of those that it is best not to dwell on.

I did finally (after years of searching) purchase a pair of skinny jeans though. New Look’s range of supersoft skinny jeans came up trumps; not too high or low waisted, thin but good quality denim, just the right amount of stretch…I later spied that they also do a range of coloured jeans in the same range,
I may become a jeans convert yet.

How’s your week going? Half way through, reward yourself!

super furry animal

Miss Selfridge bunny jumper, Primark velvet skirt, faithful Tesco tights, NewLook boots, ASOS faux fur jacket.

The jacket and the boots are my only sales purchases to date; the jacket I ordered on Christmas eve in a fit of “I must own purple faux fur” madness, and the boots I picked up on Saturday for the bargain price of £7 (I call this fate, as I had wanted them at full price, but they never had my size in stock)

I feel a bit self conscious in the jacket, but I’m determined to embrace the “I don’t give a f*** what people think of me” approach this year and wear it regardless; not that it was actually wise to wear it outside yesterday…drowned rat anyone?

shop the sales; urban outfitters

Urban Outfitters is one of those shops that I browse in year round, but only ever buy from in the sale. From twitter and other blogs I gather a lot of you are the same; they create lust-worthy pieces that are sadly out of our budget.

And then the sale comes around…and suddenly, BAM…things.I want and don’t need.I can afford (mostly)…my top picks of the current sale.

1. UO do home wares so well, in their last sale I picked up some gorgeous bowls for under half price, and this time my sights are set on pretty cups. This fab unicorn one is now £5

2. Birds. On a cushion (see also the sweet bunny design). I am messy, and my room never looks quite how I want it to, but I still get attracted to soft furnishings, especially when animals are involved. £20

3. Never in my life have I been attracted to this style of shoe before I found this pair at full price. Now they are in the sale at £30 I love them even more.

4. CW Carin Wester dress, a thing of beauty from the boutique range…and now a more reasonable £50. The colour makes me think Spring and Easter bunnies.

5. For some reason I will never tire of lace dresses. Kimchi&Blue £35

6. A leather skirt is an investment, and this one by Silence and Noise is just the right side of quirky to be current and yet, somehow it will never date. £70

7. Zatchels floral satchel. You might remember my gushing post about Zatchels a month or so ago. This floral one is now £70 and I WANT IT!

Are you a sales only shopper at Urban Outfitters? What have you snapped up?

I am not affiliated with UO in any way, I am merely overly excited to be able to maybe afford their products, and spend far too much time browsing.
