The Day to Night Dress with George at Asda #Georgeousdresses

Any time I go on holiday I like to pack a couple of dresses that will take me from beach to bar with a simple change of accessories, so when George at Asda asked me to pick out my favourite dress and style it in to a couple of outfits I already had a little experience under my belt.
I picked out this maxi dress as my chosen piece as I fell in love with the elegant neckline and neutral colour palette. I was also able to pick out a few accessories to help me along the way and with them I’ve created one daytime look and one evening look to share.
Daytime: By adding flat shoes and a casual bag to the dress it dressed it down enough to wear for a day spent exploring on foot. These sandals are a bargain at £8 and I get on really, really well with George at Asda’s shoes. I couldn’t resist sneaking in a pair of sunglasses too, at a mere fiver for this cool pink pair it would have been rude not to!
Evening: A smart clutch bag and some embellished heels transform this dress in to something suitable for a special night out. Bonus points to the shoes for being comfortable enough to walk miles in, and another bargain at £16!
What do you think of the looks that I created? Are you a fan of day-to-night dresses too? George at Asda have such an amazing selection of well, everything right now. Although I was invited by the brand to do this post and sent items for the purpose (all items featured in this post are c/o George at Asda) I can hand on heart say it’s one of the first places I head when I am in needed of some good value new additions to my wardrobe, I’m suckered in every time I do an Asda food shop!

Pretty Kitty with Vendula London

Ever since I bought my Mulberry handbag last year I’ve pretty much neglected the rest of my collection- not that it was vast in the first place! However, a recent new arrival at my door has seen me switch allegiences- Vendula London funky handbags clearly know me well as they sent over the most perfectly “Laura” bag I’ve ever seen.

Dress: New Look (similar here) | Shoes: Topshop (get them here) | Bag c/o Vendula (steal my style)

A bag this snazzy needs a simple canvas to hold it against- my denim shirt dress from New Look is perfect for giving it a chance to shine. I also thought I’d debut my new shoe obsession, part of my recent Topshop haul I couldn’t resist this ugly/pretty lace up shoes and have been wearing them with pretty much everything since I’ve finally found a non-flat sandal I can spend all day in.

But back to the bag…isn’t it amazing? I can’t take it out anywhere without getting a handful of comments and although it is smaller than I usually use it’s perfect for day to day essentials for when I don’t want to lug the content of my bedroom on my shoulder.

Vendula don’t just specialise in cats though, oh no…on their website you’ll find everything from thatched cottages to florals (and plenty in-between). Why not take a look and let me know which your favourite is?

Yet another nautical inspired outfit

I found this set of photos lurking on my laptop, forgotten amongst the chaos of my desktop (organising it has been on my to-do list since forever). It’s a bit of a matchy-matchy outfit by my standards, but I liked it- and still do like it as once again it has more than a touch of nautical style about it.

Top: Primark | Skirt: New Look (here) | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Shoes c/o Babycham

I’m fairly hopeless when it comes to remembering to photographer the finer details of outfits, accessories in particular although in Summer I’m rarely without a pair of sunglasses on my face. My current favourites are my Ray-Ban Erika pair which just seem to go with everything and clearly turn me in to a bit of a poser.

I couldn’t resist pairing my Babycham sailor shoes with this bargain vest top from Primark (£3 in a fairly recent sale), teamed of course with one of the two denim skirts I’ve been living in this Summer, my replacement for jeans it would seem as I end up wearing one most days, once outfit photos have been taken or work has been done.

What are you living in this Summer?

Summer Sandals at Shoetique*

I’ve developed a bit of an obsession with flat sandals this summer, in fact I went a bit crazy and sold (nearly) all of my heels to clear some space after realising that I can no longer spend an entire day in them without serious discomfort. I had intended just to clear some space and save some money but what actually happened is that I went on a bit of a sandal spree, and after a quick browse on shoe super-store Shoetique I fear another might be about to happen. As I’ve got older I’ve come to realise that flat shoes don’t have to be boring, and to prove my point I’ve popped together a little wish list of some seriously stylish shoes.
I had no idea that Barbour had branched out in to sandals so it was a potentially dangerous discovery when I stumbled across this pair whilst browsing as at £70 they are way above any budget I might have. They aren’t my usual style either, and I have no idea how I’d go about wearing them but there is something quite endearing about the navy blue suede.
Another pair that I un-expectedly fell in love with are these baby blues from Adesso although I instantly know these would be worn to death with jeans and denim mini skirts, they just look so comfortable and enchantingly retro.
More in keeping with my style are the neon pink flip-flop style shoes from Joules, or the remaining two pairs which are by Clarks. As someone who avoided Clarks for years, associating them with scarring school shoe shopping trips it’s always a joy to shop there these days as they have so many on trend styles that carry you from season to season.
So there we go, that’s my next pay-day spent before it arrives! Have you seen any shoes that have caught your eye lately?

The Little Grey Dress

I don’t shop in Topshop very often as I can’t really afford it and find it near impossible to pick up only one thing at a time. I recently won a competition though where the prize was a £100 gift card, the perfect excuse for a bit of a spree (timed with the sale, of course so I managed to get 2 dresses, a pair of shoes and a top for that!)

Dress: Topshop (here) | Trainers: New Balance (similar) | Watch c/o Caravelle

This dress was down to £20 in the sale when I bought it, although I think it’s since been reduced further in the non tall range at least. I just love it. I don’t own anything even vaguely similar and it’s one of those dresses that just makes you feel good the second you put it on. The ribbed fabric lends itself to a sports chic approach so I popped on my New Balance trainers then added a girly spin on the look with my beloved rose gold watch from Caravelle.
No doubt my other Topshop purchases will be appearing on the blog before too long, it’s been a while since I last shopped there and in the past I’ve found sizes and quality a bit hit or miss but this time round I’ve been impressed which is kind of a bad thing as I’m itching to go back for more!
