Playing House- Jewellery Storage

I own a lot of jewellery, so much so that even the inbuilt storage I have inside my wardrobe (good old Ikea!) was struggling to cope, so when Out There Interiors got in touch asking if I’d like to pick a product I was instantly drawn to this rather charming jewellery cabinet to store my favourite pieces.
The hanging space inside is just right for rings and bracelets- I think you’d struggle to fit in necklaces but that’s fine by me, I love how neat and chic this looks and it means I can grab my most worn within seconds rather than rooting through everything I own!
I hadn’t heard of Out There Interiors before but I’m in love with their website especially the amazing range of French Furniture, there are some seriously chic pieces and if I had my own place my bank balance would be in serious danger right now.
For now I shall be making do with my new jewellery home, it now hangs proudly on my wall and adds a grown up and vintage touch to my girly bedroom- grown up if you remove the soft toys and random novelties that are scattered around!
How do you store your jewellery? I love finding new solutions so I can indulge my inner magpie.

Fickle.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the aptly named Temporary Tattoo brand Fickle.
By definition Fickle means changeable in purpose/affections
which when it comes to real  tattoos cannot easily apply. Take Temporary tattoos however and all of a sudden being Fickle is a very good thing, especially when the designs are as awesome as the ones on the website.
I still automatically relate temporary tattoos to those found in packets of bubblegum when I was five or six years old. Mainly featuring superheros or cartoons back then, things have come a long way and Fickle showcase some of the coolest designs (handpicked from emerging artists) I have seen with no sticky sugary substances in sight.
Costing £5 for a packet of 2 tattoos (of the same design) or available in collections of 5 x 2 for £15 they may not be the cheapest on the market but they are by far the coolest and most durable I have tried.
Fickle kindly sent me a couple of tattoos to try out and I was incredibly impressed both by how easily they applied and how long  they lasted.
Three days later and this tattoo is still going strong and looks…well, real. Perfect for those who love the idea of a real tattoo but aren’t ready to commit. Or those like me, who already have several tattoos and want to satisfy the urge for more in less permanent manner.
Take a look at the Fickle website, I’d love to know what your favourite design is and what your stance is on tattoos- real or temporary is in general.

Music on the Move with Nude Audio

Since being with Ben I’ve become a serious music fanatic again. It started with the occasional listen on Spotify or when I was at his but now I can’t bear to be without music, especially when I’m falling asleep.
This was proving to be a problem as falling asleep with headphones in is a) uncomfortable and b) a bit dangerous so I had started to look around for some Wireless Speakers. Literally a day in to my search I received an e-mail asking if I wanted to try out a portable Bluetooth speaker from the folks at Nude Audio
Problem solved!

First up, I loved the look of this speaker, so bright and fun! It’s also really neat and compact meaning I can pack it in my handbag or backpack to take my music anywhere I please!
The size did make me wonder what the sound quality would be like- could it give a good playback being so dinky?
Yes, yes it can. This thing packs some serious punch and I’m loyal to it already! It’s super simple to set up and can be used for non Bluetooth devices too thanks to a simple cable. It has approx 8 hours of battery life which is pretty good and it charges up via a USB.
The speakers cost between £19.99 (for the S size) through to £99.99 (for the L). My speaker is the M variety.
All speakers come in a choice of two colours- the charcoal/coral like mine or a pretty grey/mint combination.
And what have I been listening to most lately?
This catchy little number that Ben introduced me to at the weekend.
He has seriously crazy guitar skills!

Beauty Brilliance- Oriflame Master Curl Mascara

As a girl who has always loved makeup I’ve slacked in the last couple of years and stopped making the effort.
In attempts to re-vamp the blog and add variety to my posts I’ve decided to introduce more beauty type posts and I’m starting off with my latest obsession- Oriflame Master Curl Mascara.
I’m a bit of a Mascara fiend, although I always end up with the same brand and formula as I like a specific look and never seem to be able to get it with any other type.
I was offered a sample of Oriflame’s latest release and figured adding one more brand to my list of “tried and wasn’t right” wouldn’t hurt. As it happens this is one of the best mascaras I have ever used. That’ll teach me to write things off without giving them a chance!
The Press Release claims:

FOR FEMININE FLIRTATIOUS LASHES….. NEW ORIFLAME MASTER CURL MASCARA

Creating fabulous curvaceous lashes just became a little easier with the launch of Master Curl Mascara from Oriflame.

This new luxurious mascara will sculpt short, straight and subtle lashes into intense, full and ultra-precise ones that flick with the most perfect curl – at an impressive 43° angle*.

The innovative arched dual brush ensures that all lashes are coated evenly with the special curl-protect formula that cares for your lashes from the inside, as well as making them look Kelly Brook curvy from the outside for up to 14 hours**.

Oriflame Master Curl Mascara is rich in Vitamin E, which protects and nourishes eyelashes. Bees and carnauba wax strengthen the lashes and gives them vitality from root to tip.

Pack away those eye-lash curlers and get ready for flutter-able sky-high lashes with added curves.

Master Curl Mascara is available to purchase in the UK at a special launch price of £5.95. Normal RRP £8.95 from 28 September 2013 onwards.

Stockists – available through Oriflame’s nationwide network of Consultants. To find your nearest Consultant visit www.oriflame.co.uk.
Sounds impressive right? I did wonder if it was being over-sold here, as beauty products so often are (cynical, me?) but in the spirit of the blog and trying new things I gave it a go and the results were impressive.
One coat gave me lashes that usually takes two or three coats to achieve and I found the curved brush and formula of the mascara really easy to use. The pink packaging just helped seal the deal.

Sorry for the rubbish pictures (and smudged eye makeup) it was early this morning and that strange autumnal lighting.

So yes,
consider me a convert to another brand, adding range to my lash lengthening repertoire. I think the price is also pretty fantastic, even when it’s not on the special launch offer. £8.95 is in line with most brands you can get in Boots and Superdrug, perhaps less depending on which you favour.
In short, if you’re looking for a new mascara (or even if your not) this is certainly worth trying.

What’s your holy grail mascara?
Has anyone tried any other Oriflame products? They are a new to me brand.

get up, stand up

Having a musician boyfriend has reignited my love of music. My ipod has been wiped clean and filled with his music collection and I find myself humming songs and dancing on buses in a way that I’ve not done for years.
The only thing lacking was a pair of decent headphones, so when Surfdome got in touch and offered me a product of my choice to review I sought the boy’s advice and opted for these headphones from the Marley range.

The headphones themselves are a joy to look at with their traditional Jamaican colours and funky wooden ear buds.
They come with three sizes of ear tips to ensure the perfect fit for noise isolation as well as a little pouch to store them in. The sound quality is the best I’ve had from a pair of headphones and the way they come packaged in environmentally friendly recycled plastics and paper is another selling point.
The wood is FSC certified and I love the funky pink trim. Overall these are a real winner to me, providing high quality sound AND some style all at the same time.
The headphones cost £29.99 (other styles available at varying prices) and you get pick up a pair here.
What songs have shaped your Summer? I’ve had Bob Marley on constantly, the chilled out vibe is perfect for lazing in the sunshine.
