The Eyes Have It

It would be fair to say I’m quite fussy when it comes to eye makeup. So many times I’ve bought a promising looking product only to find it doesn’t quite meet expectation. These days I tend to stick to what I know and rarely branch out. Still, I was curious about Eye of Horus and their new Goddess eyeliner pencils. I was sent Jewel Amethyst to review, a highly pigmented liner with micro glitter to boot.
This was everything I could have wanted from an eyeliner. Rich colour, subtle sparkle and a smooth application. My biggest gripe with eye pencils is that they often drag, or don’t leave more than a smudge of colour on your lids. This did so seamlessly and lasted all day without budging. The colour is really buildable so you can go as subtle or full on as you like and there is a smudger on the other end of thepencil for a more messy look. At £13 it’s on the pricey side for an item of makeup but it’s worth it, I think…I’ve spent more than that on eyeliners that don’t get further than one use.
I’m really intrigued by the brand, I haven’t heard much about them so far but their products look superb. If everything else is as good as this eyeliner was then I’m going to get saving and start stocking up!

A Make Up Post

I am by no means a beauty blogger, I’ll make that clear from the start! I love makeup, but over the last couple of years have spent less and less time trying new products and generally making much of an effort. Recently I’ve found myself getting sucked back in to it, and with all the buzz around a few new products, I found myself making a few lunchtime purchases.

Boots 17 Range is a brand I’ve grown up with, and I hate to admit, become rather snobbish about over the years. Recently they’ve hopped back on my radar with the release of the magnetic nail polishes (which I have, but haven’t reviewed) and the latest beauty buzz…BB cream. I was actually quite surprised to see my tiny, local Boots stock the BB cream; they so rarely get the new items in. They also had the new metallic eyeshadows, and with the lot being on 3 for 2 I grabbed the BB cream and two eyeshadows; the bronze and the silver.
I don’t know what I expected from the BB cream, especially compared to my usual foundation, but I do really like how it makes my skin look; smooth and clear. I picked up the light shade and due to my extreme pale-ness I half anticipated turning orange, but this wasn’t the case and I will be purchasing this again.
The metallic eyeshadows are lovely. Unlike so many cream eyeshadows they don’t crease or slide off during the day. I’ve been wearing the copper a lot, either on it’s own or as a base for powder eyeshadows. Again, I’d re-purchase and will probably pick up more shades.

A few other products I’ve been loving are L’oreals superliner crystal, which is my dream liquid eyeliner. The crystal effect is subtle; barely metallic and I love it for it’s slightly less harsh look.
Rimmel ScandalEyes has become my new HG mascara, the photos above showing just one coat of it. I’ve already bought a backup.
Blusher wise, I’m loving ELF studio cream blush in flirt. There was much outcry over the price of this, at £6.50 it’s one of their more expensive products, but it is hands down the most flattering cream blusher I have ever used!

What products are you loving right now? Which new releases must I try…and which should I ignore?

At Last

Matalan dress, Primark tights, Clarks shoes c/o Sarenza

And at last,
I’ve come to my final shift before my week off. Before this job I only ever had weekend work, and so the pleasure of an entire week’s break from the normal was fairly unknown. I also under-estimated just how much I would appreciate it. I have no plans, and that suits me fine…right now all I want to do is chill out with good books/crap TV and make the most of this weather if it lasts.
I also hope to experiment in the kitchen in terms of baking, making meals and creating snacks. I miss whipping up treats whenever I felt like it…although I wouldn’t change my life right now for the world.

I was also lucky enough to be sent a selection of goodies from Vivo cosmetics to review,
Launched this month, Vivo announced a line “alive with colour” exclusive to Tesco. Full of catwalk inspired colours at supermarket prices, Vivo is already being compared to the likes of MAC.
((note to local Tesco store, PLEASE start stocking this now, thanks))
I was sent the following:
1. Baked Shimmer Palette, £6. These are really beautiful, the eyeshadows apply like a dream and the blusher, despite looking quite bright suited my pale (and I mean ghostly) skin perfectly. I will be re-purchasing this.
2. Lipstick in Coral Flair, £1.99. Previous experience with cheap lipstick has been awful. Drying and garish colour. This was neither. It applied silky smooth with a more subtle hint of colour than one might expect…though it is easily buildable. There was a gorgeous hint of the smell of Vanilla too.
3. Primer, £6. My only complaint with this is that the tube feels half empty. I’m usually loyally to my Witch primer, but I can see myself alternating between the two, depending on what kind of day my skin is having ((current status, bad, hence no photos of my face wearing the makeup!))
Huge thanks to Vivo for the products. If you see these in your local Tesco then I suggest giving them a whirl…best budget cosmetic brand I’ve tried to date.
Happy Friday folks..here’s hoping for a hot and sunny weekend

Pieces.

Look who’s home! After making a stunning overnight recovery, winning a “pooper of the day” award and eating for England, Flash is now home with us. It seems like wonder cat has once again bounced back and now we have the challenge of getting him to take his medications.

Yesterday was a standard work outfit; I hate wearing the same outfit within the same week/two weeks but knowing I’d be there all day without a proper lunch break meant I went for an old faithful.

I don’t normally post a FOTD but argh, I am loving my new Clinique foundation (superbalanced makeup) worn with my favourite Topshop blusher. I thought my lipstick was brighter than it seems here, in fact I know it was! My new staple lip colour is MAC sheen supreme in Behave Yourself…the texture of these is amazing!

I’ve noticed I’m nearing 1000 followers on gfc (holy shit…not big for some, but incredible for me) so I’m planning a pretty huge (again, for me, but maybe not compared to others) giveaway to celebrate. Watch this space!

Happy Thursday Chaps! We’re almost through another week

My Face

Pouring rain and chilly temperatures (well, it is a bank holiday) has meant a return to jumper dresses. So no outfit post today. Instead I thought I’d share my current makeup loves as I love nosing through what other people are using and loving right now.

Blushers! No, I don’t wear them all at once, but I do tend to wear a different one each day depending on what mood I’m in/how deathly pale I look! I can’t remember the shades of them all, but if you want to know I will go seek!

General face/eyes! I’m quite simple. Witch primer keeps my skin tamed. Barbara Daly for Tesco foundation, of which I have a love/hate relationship with. Love that it’s pale enough for my skin and affordable, hate the smell and coverage. Rimmel powder. MAC Phloof and custom palette that is begging to be filled. L’Oreal Lash Architech 4D Mascara. I only bought the Mascara Saturday, after ignoring all twitter advice and getting distracted by a shiney silver tube and special offer price.

Sometimes impulse buys are good. I’m pleased.

Oh..and this is what lives in my palette; stars n rockets, aquadisiac, fade. I love how having a fringe has led to a return in bolder eye makeup!

What are you loving right now? Any other super pale girls got any foundation help?
