going away on a holiday

Dress; Primark via ebay, Tights Dorothy Perkins, Boots; Georgia Rose c/o Sarenza.

A semi Summer-y outfit to celebrate finishing work at 12:30pm yesterday and getting in to full on holiday mode! Snagged this dress for pennies on ebay last week and I love it, I remember wanting it from in store the year before last but not getting it…shopping fate strikes again!

I’m like an excited child on Christmas Eve/Day right now. I’ve not had a proper holiday for seven years and knowing I’ve worked damn hard for this, in every sense of the world is just amazing. To those who know my history, thank you for believeing in me…and to those going through it, it might be hard now, and things might not be perfect, but it does get better and life IS worth it. I’ve never felt quite so happy and content as I do right now (the only thing that could make it better would be my Nan being here to watch it all).

I rounded off work on a high by being signed off as qualified on INR star (which will mean very little to any of you I am sure!). My case is packed…all that’s left to do is paint my toenails and meet up with the gorgeous Ellie, the brains behind this holiday.

I may or may not be blogging whilst away, it entirely depends on wifi/Ellie sharing her laptop ;)/how much fun I am having.

Malaga has been in the forty degree range this week. Bring.It.On.

Mae’s unladylike attempt at perfecting her sun bathing pose in hopes she can come too.

keep cool, cover up

There is a lot to be said for what is basically a tube of striped cotton when it comes to keeping cool…this maxi dress from H&M pretty much saved me from melting on Thursday afternoon (and allowed me to bare my hairy legs without anyone seeing!). Teamed with faithful Havianas c/o Sarenza I’ll probably be living in this kind of thing in Spain (6 days, 6 days….I’m allowed to be over-excited, I haven’t had a holiday in seven years!)

I did feel quite sorry for my furry friend, her only way to keep cool was lie in the shade looking cute. Oh, it’s a hard life being a cat!

Has anyone got Summery weekend plans? I’ve had to put mine on hold to shift this sore throat/cough virus before my holiday. This, folks, is the one downside to my job. 50% of our patients have this same thing and it keeps getting bounced back and forth between us!

basically

H&M dress (last years, about £8 I think), Clarks sandals c/o Sarenza, New Look necklace.

How cute is my little explorer? I can’t stop snapping photos of her! We’ve finally been able to get rid of her litter tray…the next challenge is the bloody cat flap *sigh*

Love these super flat Clarks sandals that remind me of the summer shoes I had when I was growing up. I swear you cannot beat a super flat leather sandal for everyday summer wearing.

The necklace was a gift from a friend who knows me too well.

Congratulations to Amanda, winner of the Experience Day giveaway…I hope you enjoy your Zorbing if that’s what you decide to do!

What were your childhood sandals like? How is your week shaping up?

sunshine and shades

New Look Midi Dress, Matalan wedges, Raybans c/o Smart Buy Glasses

FINALLY!
An excuse to pull out a summer dress (picked up a couple of weeks ago when New Look were selling selected dresses at a tenner each), sandals and shades! I finally have my much lusted over Raybans thanks to Smart Buy Glasses too.

I can’t even complain about being ill over the weekend, it provides the perfect excuse to sit out in the garden and do not very much at all…silverlining and all that jazz! Mae loves the sunshine, or rather the insects it encourages, after years of being used to Flash and his lazy ways, it is a joy to see Mae prance around after anything that looks vaguely edible.

How are you spending your weekend?

P.S. there is still time to enter my giveaway to win an experience day here.

little miista

Last week Miista threw a legendary “cheaper with a tweet” event and I was lucky enough to hit the jackpot, scoring the Batilda boots in black for a mere £6.60. I think fate was on my side that day as there was literally ONE pair left in my size.
Quite honestly I think these are the most beautiful boots I own and despite their height they are stupidly comfortable.

You might not score quite the bargain I did, but it is only fair to tell you Miista have a bit of a sale going on right now too!

For these photos I wore them with my much loved Motel Heidi dress (one of my most worn dresses I think!) and some super cheap and not so cheerful tights from Tesco. Outfits are a bit lazy this week as I’ve been doing phlebotomy shifts at work and just chucking what’s clean on when I change out of my uniform.

((Shout out to Miista for sending the shoes in a Mae size box, she is one happy kitty!))
