A Little Bit of Luxury from Smiley

Everybody needs some feel good clothing in their life, and what better way to cheer yourself up than wear a giant smiley face? Admittedly a year or so ago this in an option I’d have overlooked, but since being introduced to Smiley back in the Summer I’ve known where to head every time I need a little pick-me-up.

Honestly, how can one be miserable when wearing a jumper this bright and fun? Smiley have recently launched a range of cashmere and sent me this jumper to celebrate. Now, I’ll admit that this range doesn’t come cheap, but damn does it feel good! The perfect slouchy fit to hide the not-so-great body image days, an on trend animal print and the biggest smiley face I ever did see- this is feel good dressing at it’s best!

Paired with a simple pair of skinny jeans (I love how Bershka’s jeans fit me) and these studded platform boots this was the perfect outfit to remedy any Monday blues at the start of my week off.

Watch this space for more awesome goodness from Smiley, I can’t get enough of the brand right now and there are some cool things in the works…

Silver Wings and Amber Daisies

I’ve been a lucky girl lately and have managed to accumulate a couple of gorgeous new pieces to add to my jewellery collection. I love discovering new brands (at least new to me) and show them off on my blog.

Silverwings Jewellery is a brand I found on twitter. Run by a lovely lady named Elaine each piece is hand-crafted in Britain and beautifully presented. Inspired heavily by the Great British countryside there are a lot of woodland animals and feathered friends on offer. I was very kindly sent the Sitting Squirrel necklace from the “woodland fur & feathers” collection which I just love. I can’t resist a countryside critter and this is exactly the style of necklace I tend to wear on a daily basis. I failed to capture it properly in the outfit shots as the light wasn’t in our favour to really show it off, but this necklace hasn’t left my neck since it’s arrival. I shall be saving my pennies for more of Elaine’s work in the future as it’s all so stunning- I might have to get the matching bracelet next.
My ring from Henryka has made it’s way to “favourite ever ring” status and I’ve only had it a week! Amber is one of my favourite stones and it’s obvious from the name of my blog that I love daisies, so this is just the perfect combination. Henryka is a treasure trove of awesome pieces made from sterling silver and amber, all at really good prices too. This ring was £29 and came beautifully presented and it’s clearly of excellent quality. I’ve spied a number of cat pieces on the website which I will be adding to my ever expanding wish list!
This outfit was hastily thrown together for a lazy Sunday working from home. This dress was such a bargain at £5 and I thought the lace top worked well under it as otherwise it is a bit on the low cut side. It was good to get one last wear from these sandals before they go away for the winter, it’s just as well I have an obsession with ankle boots!

Urban Joy

I think it’s pretty clear from the volume of posts on the blog lately that Joy is one of my favourite ever places to shop. Every item I’ve owned from them just fits perfectly and I’m pretty certain there are soon to be some new additions to my collection (yellow dress, I’m after you!). The jumper in this post was free as I spent over £75 when I was last in store…Joy are brilliant like that, right now they are offering a free dress worth £35 when you spend £75 which is a pretty sweet deal!

These photos were taken outside the building where Ben and his friend rent a studio for their music work. We still haven’t worked out why there was a sofa and TV outside but couldn’t resist playing around! We make the studio our base when we’re spending a day in Bristol, perfect for dumping heavy bags and a great location for exploring the city by foot. It’s right near Gloucester Road & Stokes Croft, both great for atmosphere and vibe with some amazing independent shops and local talents, but also only a short was to Cabot Circus.

I’d really like to expand the areas in Bristol that I take outfit photos in as there are some awesome locations and loads of amazing graffiti backdrops. I’m still working up the courage to just stop where there are plenty of people milling around…how do fellow bloggers do it?

This is probably one of my current favourite weekend outfits, it is so comfortable and perfect for whatever we decide to do. I’m going to be living in this sweat all winter, as much as I love all the colour around this season it’ll take a heck of a lot to shift me away from monochrome.

Print Overload!

I think this set of photos show how sloppy I can be with my dressing sometimes, far from being a perfectly polished blogger you’ll most often see me with a failure in shirt tucking or a ladder in my tights. I think that keeps it real though, even if it might not give the best of impressions all the time…I don’t think I’ll ever change though, I’m genetically incapable of looking neat and groomed for more than a few minutes on any given day!

I wore this outfit for a retirement BBQ last weekend as we had such nice weather it seemed a shame not to wear something so bright! I rummaged through my tights drawers to find a pair that stood out a little bit; I used to be so well known for my love of snazzy tights and I’ve let that slide lately. I picked this pair up for something insane like 50p in Primark during one of my random browsing sessions.

The boots might be quite high, especially as I’ve lived in flats for so long but they are actually incredibly comfortable and I had no problems staying on my feet in these. I need to get back in to heels again, I don’t want to become that girl who gives up high shoes as she gets older, flats have their place and they are best for a work day, but nothing beats slipping on some killer ankle boots for a weekend (unless you’re walking miles around the local area, as I found out the hard way!)

I’ve got a mad busy week ahead of me, but after than a whole week off lies ahead. One of those weeks where I have no plans as such, just a couple of commitments, none of which involve having an alarm set for stupid o’clock in the morning…I can’t wait!

Indian Summers

I can pretty much guarantee that by the time this post goes live the gorgeous Indian Summer we’ve been enjoying has departed- that’s just the way things seem to work! Still, it was a complete surprise and delight when we were granted a few gorgeous warm days filled with sunshine to get a few more rays of that golden glow on bare skin before confining it back to month upon month of knitwear and layering.

These photos were taken late one evening, just before the light truly faded for the day which would probably explain why they haven’t come out as well as usual. I’d been on a training course all day (to become a health care assistant instead of just a phlebotomist) and had wanted something comfortable to wear that wasn’t too casual- these trousers fitted the bill perfectly as they are a thousand times more comfy that jeans and look that bit smarter too.

You can’t really see but the vest has a zipper down half of the back, it does give the vest a slightly odd fit, but I kind of like that (and I think I’ve worn it back to front before now as well, oops!). The hat was a late addition as my hair was in dire need of a wash but I wanted to grab some photos first- so lazy! I really like the effect it added though and it makes me wonder why I don’t think of adding in hats more often. I’m notoriously bad for forgetting to properly accessorise an outfit, even popping on some jewellery doesn’t occur to me until the very last minute!

I hope everyone enjoyed the last of the summer sun! I’m entering in to a super busy time of year now where I juggle several different big goals- blogging has suffered a little bit, I’m not as active at commenting etc as I have been in the past but I promise a big old catch up soon!
