Silver Wings and Amber Daisies

I’ve been a lucky girl lately and have managed to accumulate a couple of gorgeous new pieces to add to my jewellery collection. I love discovering new brands (at least new to me) and show them off on my blog.

Dress: Primark | Tee: New Look | Shoes: Sarenza | Necklace c/o Silverwings Jewllery | Ring c/o Henryka

Silverwings Jewellery is a brand I found on twitter. Run by a lovely lady named Elaine each piece is hand-crafted in Britain and beautifully presented. Inspired heavily by the Great British countryside there are a lot of woodland animals and feathered friends on offer. I was very kindly sent the Sitting Squirrel necklace from the “woodland fur & feathers” collection which I just love. I can’t resist a countryside critter and this is exactly the style of necklace I tend to wear on a daily basis. I failed to capture it properly in the outfit shots as the light wasn’t in our favour to really show it off, but this necklace hasn’t left my neck since it’s arrival. I shall be saving my pennies for more of Elaine’s work in the future as it’s all so stunning- I might have to get the matching bracelet next.
My ring from Henryka has made it’s way to “favourite ever ring” status and I’ve only had it a week! Amber is one of my favourite stones and it’s obvious from the name of my blog that I love daisies, so this is just the perfect combination. Henryka is a treasure trove of awesome pieces made from sterling silver and amber, all at really good prices too. This ring was £29 and came beautifully presented and it’s clearly of excellent quality. I’ve spied a number of cat pieces on the website which I will be adding to my ever expanding wish list!
This outfit was hastily thrown together for a lazy Sunday working from home. This dress was such a bargain at £5 and I thought the lace top worked well under it as otherwise it is a bit on the low cut side. It was good to get one last wear from these sandals before they go away for the winter, it’s just as well I have an obsession with ankle boots!
Where are you loving for jewellery right now? Have you made any exciting new discoveries?

Milestones- new in from GUESS Jewellery

After a short hiatus from invading my inbox with sparkling temptations, GUESS Jewellery have got my magpie tendencies going in to overdrive with their latest collection! I’m trying so hard to be good and resist spending money that I really can’t afford but it’s not easy- is it too early to be making a Christmas list?
The Milestones collection features sleek metal paired with gorgeous gradient colour stones set using the unique and challenging invisible setting technique. Although these may look simple at first glance they are a sure-fire statement, especially when doubled up with the matching ring and bracelet set. I am utterly besotted with the rose gold and pink combination and really like the idea of a matching set- you don’t often see a ring and bracelet set, usually it’s a necklace and bracelet or ring. The bangles cost £145 whilst the rings are £55…that makes a nice round £200 for the pair, not cheap but they certainly look a lot more expensive than that!
Available September 2014 from Debenhams, H Saumuel, House of Fraser and Goldsmiths. Which combo has caught your eye & would you wear alone or dare to double up?

Shine Bright

Over the last few months I’ve found myself braving quite a new few styles when it comes to clothing- from the matchy matchy co-ord to bearing all in a cropped tee it seems that nothing has been off limits. One item that took mea while to warm to was culottes, especially those of the midi length, but now I own a pair I am wondering what on earth took me so long; flattering, comfortable and with more dignity saving potential than the humble midi skirt, I’m a convert.

Vest: New Look | Culottes: New Look | Boots: H&M | Necklace: Local shop

These culottes from New Look were something crazy like £7 in the sale which is why I finally decided to take the plunge and make a purchase. I’d been eyeing this particular pair for a while and I’m pleased I didn’t miss out as they are a super versatile addition to my wardrobe and perfect for this time of year. I wore this outfit for a sunny Sunday stroll around Bristol with Ben, taking in the eccentricity of Stokes Croft and the tranquility of the Harbour-side but they would also work well for the office with a smarter top and some flat shoes.
When I say that this necklace is from a local shop, I not only mean a shop that is local to me in Nailsea but that only sells goods made by local people. I can’t resist popping in there for a browse every time I pass as there are always stunning new arrivals and I like to support local talents. This was actually a gift from Ben who shares my love for all things unique and handmade and I always get comments on it whenever I wear it.
Talking of comments, these boots got a fair bit of attention when I was out and about. I had them on order from H&M for ages before they finally arrived; it took about six weeks for them to be in stock but they were well worth the wait. I didn’t realise when I ordered that they are not only patent but somewhat holographic, which makes them even better in my eyes; I was desperate for a pair of silver holographic boots last winter but these are a bit less “out there” and will no doubt be lived in all through the next few months as despite walking for miles in them they remained immensely comfortable.
Ben and I stumbled across this gem of a shop whilst in town that weekend- yet another reason why I love Bristol so much, it’s such a creative city with a brilliant sense of humour…it’s taken a few years but I’ve really got to know the place lately and I fall a little more in love with every visit (and yes, it’s shameful how awful my knowledge of Bristol was before last year, I blame being a small town girl on the out-skirts!). What do you love about where you live?

Troll Face

This outfit combines four of my favourite pieces from my wardrobe and it’s probably one of my favourite outfits I’ve worn in ages. Slouchy but smart, pastel but warm…it was perfect for a lazy Sunday morning (until I got chocolate on the top) and then again for evening drinks- the in between was spent in something far less glamorous as Ben and I went for a bike ride and skirts + bikes + Laura’s dignity really don’t mix.

Top: New Look | Skirt: ASOS Tall (sale) | Brogues: Hobbs via McArthur Glen | Necklace: Chelsea Doll c/o Spoiled Brat

I’ve mentioned before that I own this New Look top in three other colours, they are the most brilliant basic for both work and non work wearings. I can’t remember exactly how much they cost, but just like the vests I’ve gone on and on about as well they were worth their bargain price as they wear and wash so well. I hope New Look bring out some more colours for the colder months. I initially thought the boxy shape might be a bit too much with this skirt, which for some reason I am a little afraid of wearing. It’s probably because the split front comes up quite high, but as long as one is careful when getting out of a car or jumping over anything there isn’t any reason for it to cause a problem. This is yet another well cut piece from the ASOS tall range , which I am fairly obsessed with. Whilst writing this post I had a cheeky look at their new arrivals and OH MAN there are so many pieces I want to add to my wardrobe right now.

I pretty much live in these brogues when I need a flat but smart shoe as they are so comfortable and have the ability to liven up any outfit. This time I chose them because they complemented the colours in this immense necklace I’m wearing- hands down my favourite piece that Chelsea Doll have ever made, which is saying something as they make rather a few awesome feline themed pieces. I tend to go minimal on my jewellery on a day to day basis but sometimes I just can’t resist the urge to break out something a bit jazzier…and it doesn’t get much jazzier than this little gang of trolls!

What are you like when it comes to jewellery? Do you keep it subtle or take a loud and proud approach?

Shore Projects

My watch collection is growing at quite an alarming rate as I am lucky enough, as a blogger to have been sent some really gorgeous designs. My latest addition is probably my favourite to date and comes via the folk at Shore Projects who specialise in British Seaside inspired watches that feature an awesome customisable strap feature meaning you can mix and match to suit your mood.

Dress: Primark | Shoes c/o Yull | Necklace c/o SuShilla | Watch c/o Shore Projects

I picked the Portland watch face (£85) for the base of my watch which comes with an already lovely mint green strap. I then picked one of the polka dot straps (£25) also in mint green so I could test out the concept for myself. Switching the straps is so simple to do thanks to a handy little clip and I love that with a classic face you have the basis for having a new watch whenever you please. I’m going to be adding to my strap collection in the future, I’m thinking a timeless brown leather one for an instantly chic look.
This outfit is what I wore the weekend before last for a day catching up with my best friend. The dress was a mere fiver in Primark and is an item I’ve been after all Summer- I’m so glad I didn’t see it until after it was reduced! The shoes are one of my all time favourite pairs that Sarah at Yull has sent me (she’s such a sweetheart) and I thought the colours in this outfit complimented each other nicely. The necklace is another favourite piece of mine and it was the perfect finishing touch.
If you’re in the market for a new watch then I highly recommend checking out Shore Projects- here’s the link to their lookbook so you can get a better idea of what they do…let me know what combination you’d go for below.
