That Tartan Trend

Jumper: Primark
Kilt: Vintage from ebay
Boots: New Look
Fascinator: Crown and Glory
The second I saw this Christmas Pudding fascinator on Crown and Glory I knew I needed it, in fact I remember responding to a facebook post about how there needed to be something Christmas Pudding related so really it would have been rude not to make the purchase. If puddings aren’t your  thing then there are a whole host of festive head wear, I also really quite fancy the Glitter Holly Hairclip.
Moving on from the Christmas theme…
this kilt has to be my favourite ever ebay purchase. I think it was less than a tenner last year, before tartan really became a “trend”. I started becoming obsessed with all things tartan at that point and now own a modest selection of clothing featuring it. I love how heavy and warm this skirt is and the midi length and nipped in waist just seems to suit my figure. I wish all skirts were made like this!
It’s the weekend and oh so close to Christmas. Where is time going?
What are you up to this weekend? Any festive goings on? It’s going to be more chilling out and relaxing here whilst my back continues to improve. I go back to work on the 23rd December and I can’t wait for it to hurry up and get here. Impatient, me?

Hair Heroes

So, my hair is in a bit of a state right now. It hasn’t had a cut and colour for ages and I’m at my wits end. I’d been putting off because an iron deficiency led to a lot falling out but that’s sorted now and I need to get my act together!
In the mean time I’ve been pampering my hair with some amazing products from Kerastase that I was kindly sent some time ago now. Out of the box of goodies I couldn’t find a product I didn’t like so I’ll give you my brief thoughts on each of them…
Spray a Porter is similar to a sea salt spray I’ve used in the past. It gives a lovely tousled effect without leaving residue. I found it worked best as a booster on “second day” hair when my waves were flagging.
Boucles d’art is a strong hold aqua mousse that gave my waves amazing definition without leaving them stiff and crunchy in a way that some mousses do. Definite re-purchase when this runs out!
Mousse Bouffante is a traditional mousse which when teamed with the Boucles d’art gave amazing volume to my hair and made it look fuller despite so much having fallen out.
Touche Finale is the one product I haven’t used much as it’s a finishing serum which doesn’t really agree with my wavy hair. If I’m wearing my hair tied back I do run a bit of this through it when damp to get a smooth and shiny finish though and it doesn’t leave my hair greasy.
Laque Couture is my favourite hairspray ever. It’s pricey but so worth it for the hold and finish it gives. Wow.
Gloss Appeal does exactly what it says on the bottle, giving an amazing non-greasy glossy finish to my hair which is otherwise prone to looking quite dull and..well, dead. Love.
So, those are my thoughts. I know Kerastase isn’t an every day affordable product but there are a couple of real heros here that will be on my shopping list when they run out.
If you’ve used their products which ones would you recommend?
And what on earth should I get done to my hair.
I’m going to book in as soon as my back is better and I can sit for more than five minutes and I am open to suggestions!

HairX from Oriflame

As you can probably see, I’m having a bit of a hair nightmare at the moment. It’s become fine, lank and generally not how it was over the summer and I’m seeking desperately for a solution.
Part of that solution could well be the new shampoo I’m trialing from Oriflame (yep, hair care as well as fabulous mascaras!)

“New HairX Care has been specially developed to nourish your scalp, the birthplace of healthy hair. The new and improved HairX range is now formulated with powerful antioxidant 6-GINGEROL which helps to protect the scalp, giving visibly healthier hair from root to tip. Just as beautiful flowers need nourishment from the root, a healthy scalp is the foundation for beautiful hair”

For those who are wondering (I know I was) 6-Gingerol is a compound found in Ginger.

This combination of science and nature so far seems to be doing my hair the world of good. It smells delightful and lathers up well and my hair hasn’t felt so…clean and weightless as it does right now without compromising on what little volume is left.

The HairX range compromises of six solutions, to help everything from a flaky scalp through to frizzy nightmares.
I’m using the Volume Boost edition for fine hair right now.

You can purchase the shampoo, or other elements of the HairX range from the Oriflame website. Until the 18th October there are some fabulous deals on the prices too so if you want to try them I wouldn’t hang around. Not that Oriflame charge the earth anyway. Quality and value, now that’s what I like!
What are your hair solutions?
And…what shall I do with my hair next? I’m feeling a change coming on…

making waves

Vest: ASOS
Skirt and Shoes: New Look
Picked up a couple of these ASOS vests a few weeks ago now- £6 each and a dream fit, I’m trying to build up a few staples in my wardrobe so I expect I’ll be ordering more colours soon.
I’m so happy with how my hair turned out the other week, the hairdresser used a new (to me) product on it- Matrix Get Action spray wax which has proven to be a miracle worker. I never used to be one to splurge on hair products but this has swayed me and it’ll be a repeat purchase.
Have you discovered any little miracles? This and salt water spray keep my waves, well, wavy.
Wednesday again- I can’t believe it. Apparently we’re in for ten days of glorious sunshine which if true couldn’t be better time as my brother is home for a few days and I have a weekend planned with the boy which I hope can involve lots of chilling out in the park. That and of course we’re long overdue decent weather!
It’s been a good week so far, I’m writing this stupidly early from the comfort of my new bed- my first “grown up” furniture purchase. I feel happy, life is good and I hope it is for everyone else, too.
What’s going on?

something kinda new

I got my hair done on Thursday after work,
an all over top up of my now signature red with flashes of bright blonde underneath, designed to show when my hair is in loose waves as it is for 99% of the time.
A much needed trim also happened, seriously, I can’t believe I never used to go to the hairdressers- now I’m there every 6/8 weeks like clockwork.
I’m enjoying having a semi new look, it’s not drastic, but I like it and it’s something that suits my low maintenance styling style- I’m such a wash and go kind of girl; my routine is literally wash, scrunch mousse through, spray with a sea salt texture spray and go go go.
What else should I try?
