Bristol Ladies- Marisota Pop Up Event.

Here’s a heads up for you Bristol readers; Fashion etailer Marisota are coming to Cabot Circus from Tuesday 25th March for six whole days. This visit follows on from last year’s launch of the “shapeology” concept. The Pop-Up tour started on March 13th in London and is designed to give both new and existing customers an insight in to what shapeology is and see it in action.
For a little background info Marisota is part of J D Williams, the UK’s largest independent multi-channel Home Shopping retailer. Its Shapeology concept is an evolution in fashion design and offers women of all shapes and sizes the chance to wear fashionable pieces, which will enhance their figures and ultimately give them ‘can wear’ confidence. The brand works closely with TV super-stylist Mark Heyes (who designs his own range for them) and he can be expected to pop in and out of the store to say hello to customers. There will be a team of specially trained shapeologists on hand to guide customers through the range and help them decide what works for their body shape.
Marisota’s ‘magic mirror’ will enable attendees to capture their new look and allow them to send it instantly to their friends via Facebook, Twitter and Email. They will also be able to print out a copy to take away with them. Live models will grace the windows to showcase the looks.
There will be a selection of fashions in sizes 12-32 as well as key accessories, swimwear and shapewear. Customers will also be able to order items featured at the events in-store and will be given a special 20% discount AND free home delivery.
I’m not going to be able to pop along to this due to still being on sick leave which is a shame as it sounds like fun! Let me know if you are planning to go or if you do- I want to see those snaps!

Long Live The Queen!

With London Fashion Week in full swing I thought this might be a good time to share this infographic about one of my favourite British Designers from the people at Daniel Footwear’s blog. I’m one of life’s nosy people and I love to find out as much as I can about how they got to where they currently are in their life. The particular person in focus right now is none other that Vivienne Westwood- creator of the cult orb jewellery and some seriously fabulous shoes just for starters.

Which Fashion Designer would you love to know more about? Vivienne Westwood has always held the most intrigue for me, she seems like such an eclectic personality and I find that fascinating.

Festive Beauty: Fabulous Frocks, Glamorous Locks and Luscious Lips (a guest post)

Christmas is perfect for getting glammed up; choose a statement dress, a fabulous hairstyle and lip enhancement gloss to make an impact this year.Let’s face it ladies, we all want to look our very best for the festive season; what with all the parties to attend over Christmas and New Year, plus all the loved ones we have to visit, it’s the perfect time to glam up and take to the spot light!

The outfit – simple yet sassy

So first things first, you have to choose the perfect outfit: you need a hot look for the work’s night out, a cute little number for Christmas Day and something sparkly for the New Year celebrations.

Choose a simple bodycon dress for your work’s night out: a block red or black colour always looks great for the festive season. Team this with thick shimmery black tights, black patent heels and a glitzy clutch for full effect.

Now, for Christmas Day, you want something comfortable (ideally with a forgiving waistband for all that food), but something that still looks great in those family pics. Grab yourself a pair of well-fitted black leggings and wear these with some gorgeous knee high boots and a cute Christmas knit – you’ll look adorable!

And finally, to complete the party season, you need a killer look to welcome in the New Year; select a super sexy midi dress fit with sequins or sparkle. Offset your dress with sky-scraper heels and a simple clutch.

The hair – effortlessly chic

Your outfits are sorted, but now you need to decide on some knockout hairstyles. For the work’s Christmas party, you want something that makes you look totally different to how you do at the office, so why not backcomb the roots of your hair for super volume and add gorgeous, bold curls that can cascade over your shoulders? You’re guaranteed to turn the heads of your colleagues with this look!

For Christmas Day, you want something that’s quick and easy to create; style your locks into a bang-
on-trend fishtail braid to keep your hair out of your face while you open all those gifts whilst still looking incredible.

Turn up the glamour for your New Year’s hairstyle; choose a beautiful bouffant which oozes volume and accessorise it with a delicate hair ornament.

The makeup – flawless beauty

The finishing touch to your festive looks is of course the make-up; you want to look flawlessly beautiful without plastering on the paint.

For the office party, select a statement lipstick and keep the rest of your makeup minimal. A juicy, glossy red would look fabulous with your bodycon dress; top this with a clear plumping gloss for ultimate lip enhancement and an irresistible, kissable look.

On Christmas Day, you don’t want to fuss too much with your cosmetics so keep it simple with a touch of black liquid liner, a sweep of mascara and some clear gloss.

Turn up the glitter for your New Year’s celebrations with a lovely gold or bronze shimmery shadow and a pale shade of lippy.

So, ladies, those are our picks for some super hot looks this festive season, but how will you be getting your glam on this year?

girly girl

Dress: c/o Phase Eight
Shoes: c/o Sarenza
Whatever outfits I decide to wear on any given day I’m still a girly girl at heart and will forever be drawn to all things pink and shiney- even better if it’s both together. The second I saw these shoes by Tamaris (not a brand I’d usually look at, I admit) on Sarenza I knew I needed them to be mine. At £34.99 they aren’t exactly expensive and are the perfect subtle way to embrace this season’s trend for all things metallic. I paired them with my beloved Phase Eight dress for their first airing although I couldn’t wear them all day as they need a little bit of breaking in first.
How are we almost at the end of the second month of this year? It’s scary and it’s worse when I think back to this time last year, so filled with sad and worrying events in the family and how long ago that seems now. As soon as the weather improves I plan to visit Sidmouth where my Nan’s ashes are scattered as I feel a sudden need to be near her. That might sound stupid, but I suppose anyone who has lost someone close to them will relate on some level.
Anyway, to focus on happier things I am pleased to say this year as so far proven to be better, all we need now is the arrival of Spring; I can’t bring myself to start planning my S/S wardrobe fully whilst I’m still shivering in knits and complaining about the weather every two seconds. I’m really loving the new season trends- especially monochrome, metallics and neon and can’t wait to stock up. What will you be wearing when things warm up? I’m also starting to get excited for swimwear in anticipation of my August holiday. Black sequin bikini from Asos, you WILL be mine!

DIY Fashionista

Another week and another brand new book to share with you folks; DIY is a big thing in the blogging world so I think this might be of interest to a lot of you; it certainly was to me!

DIY Fashionista by Geneva Vanderzeil contains 40 stylish DIY projects to re-invent and update your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
With step-by-step guides and instructions on the basics you don’t need to be a pro to use these ideas. The pictures and steps are clear and easy to follow (even I can understand them) and I can’t wait to give some of the projects a go.

This book, published by Carlton in Hardback in October 2012 priced at £16.99 is a worthy addition for any DIY loving blogger and with Christmas fast approaching would be a good one to pop on your list (or, if feeling generous to buy for someone else!)

What do you think? Are you a DIY fan? I’ve never really attempted much myself, I often find blog and youtube tutorials somewhat confusing but this book makes it clear as day and I am hoping to brave it and get crafting!

Big thank you to Carlton for sending me a copy of the book.
