Design a Welly Competition with Joules*

It’s cold outside, and wet which means a) a general reluctance to do anything that involves being outside and b) a real need for some new wellies.

Wellies aren’t traditionally the most exciting item of footwear (although I wish I still fitted in to the ones I had when I was at primary school, they were EPIC). Fancy changing that perception though? Joules have opened up a competition where they are inviting you to get doodling and design your very own wellies, the winner of which will see their design go in to production (with all proceeds going to CHARITABLY JOULES to boot).

Seeing your design hit stores isn’t the only thing you can win, either. Also up for grabs are 3 nights in a Golden Oak tree cabin (plus lots more) worth £5000 and ten runners up will each win a £250 Joules gift card. Of course the winning design will also be available to buy via the Joules website (www.joules.com)

Tempted? Simply get your creative hat on and submit a design via the link here. Given that it’s currently pouring down outside and I have a few days off of work I think I know how I’ll be spending my afternoon!

Let me know if you enter, I’d love to see your designs!

Scaredy Cat

I’m not one to go all out for Halloween, sure I love to buy fun-sized treats under the pretence they are for trick or treaters but that’s about as far as I go. However, this year I clapped eyes on something so brilliant I couldn’t resist getting in to the spooky spirit a bit more than usual and it’s all thanks to my friends at Brat&Suzie.

Dress c/o Brat&Suzie | Boots: Stylistpick

I saw this Scaredy Cat dress during one of my regular online window shopping sessions and declared my love for it all over social media. Brat&Suzie, bless them offered to answer my prayers and send one my way and I couldn’t be happier!

I’m working the morning of the 31st of October (it is flu clinic season after all) and you can bet this dress will be coming with me. The rest of Halloween so far is a blank page, if I have it my way Ben and I will have an evening of scary movies and buckets of Haribo and I can wear this dress to do nothing more than chill on the sofa in. Regardless of what we end up doing this dress will be a part of it- for 2015 and for many more Halloweens to come!

What are you plans for the spookiest night of the year? What’s your favourite trick or treat? I was never allowed to go out with my friends and knock on doors but I certainly never missed out on those cute little bags of Haribo!

Weekend Wandering with Vendula London

Following on from my post last Monday featuring a fabulous clutch by Vendula London I’m back with the second instalment. I’m well aware I look a bit scruffy in these photos, forgive me but it was the weekend and Ben and I were heading out on a walk and well, I’m just keeping it real- I firmly believe that at the weekends you just can’t beat jeans, a slouchy knit and converse.

Jumper c/o Boden (a couple of years ago) | Jeans: Next | Converse via Sarenza | Bag c/o Vendula London

I’ve had so many compliments on this bag ever since I started using it. It’s simply perfect for these colder days (am I the only one who’s cracked out the knits and big coats?) with it’s tweed and faux suede textures and woollen embroidery. It’s also wonderfully roomy inside- this is a huge must for me when it comes to picking out a new bag for every day use. I can literally fit my whole life in here and still have room for an umbrella if it looks like the weather might turn.

I’ve tended to steer clear of detailed bags over the last couple of years, convincing myself that minimal is more suitable for an every day, classic approach but there is something so endearing about this one that I’ve re-considered my stance and will be looking for more detail in the future. Once again Vendula London have come up trumps with a high quality, quirky and beautiful bag that meets all of my requirements. I’ve got my eye on the Snowflake collection as we fly in to the festive season.

What does your perfect bag for every day use look like?

A Wrist Candy Wish List*

Ok so I’m actually really not a fan of the term “wrist candy” but I couldn’t think of another title for this post so let’s roll with it.

I’m on a bit of a mission at the moment having spent some time sorting through my jewellery collection and realising that I own plenty of rings, necklaces and earrings but not much in the way of wrist wear (if we don’t count my vast array of watches that is). I love my Pandora bracelet which gets added to a few times a year but sometimes I crave something a little more minimal and with a bit of a tougher edge. With Christmas fast approaching I thought I’d pop up a little wish list of bracelets I rather fancy, both to serve as inspiration and also as a not so subtle hint to those around me.

All of these bracelets are stocked at House of Fraser along with many, many, many others. As you can imagine this is a very restrained wish list from me- I’ve spotted at least thirty pieces I’d like to own, mainly from the brands Ted Baker and Michael Kors. Oh heck.

Have you started writing a Christmas list yet? What’s your bangle style? I have quite dinky wrists and find that cuff styles suit me best…dainty little chains with a charm look very pretty much don’t seem to suit me so well.

Le Miserable

Goodness knows how long these photos have been sat on my laptop, I have a horrible feeling they are from way back in August and I just never got around to writing a post, oops! Still better late than never and there is NEVER a bad time to show off an epic tee right? (especially as it’s still available to buy).

Tee: e-bay (get it here) | Skirt: New Look (similar) | Boots: H&M (last year)

I’m a massive fan of Grumpy Cat, there’s something about that miserable little face that is so endearing. The second I saw this tee on e-bay I knew I’d have to make it mine, especially at under a tenner. If you’re thinking of buying this for yourself I’d recommend e-mailing the seller for a size guide as they do come up on the small side, for reference I opted for the women’s tee in a size small (and I wish I had gone for the medium to be honest).

Paired with my staple a-line denim skirt and some chunky black boots this made for a perfectly laid back weekend as far as I can remember! Summer feels like such a long time ago now that I seem to have my grumpy cat face on all of the time. I’ll just hide away and console myself with hot chocolate, snuggly knits and kitty cuddles.

Are you a fan of quirky tees? I’m not usually but this one just had to be bought.
