March Degusta Box

You may remember way back in January I reviewed Degustabox and really enjoyed it, so I was incredibly excited when the team offered to send me a few more. A week or so ago the March box arrived on my doorstep and I couldn’t wait to dive on in!
This post is more of an over-view of the March box rather than a review as I haven’t tried everything yet, and I don’t have the exact product details to hand (let me know in the comments if you would like more information on anything and I’ll pop it up for you). What I can say is the Tyrells popcorn is addictive and the dinky bags are perfect for snacking on the go. The Moma porridge pots made delicious bedtime snacks for me- I always eat something before bed as I hate going to bed hungry and oats are a great food for just before bed. My favourite was the plain one but only because I don’t like blueberry, the fruity one was still good though.
The Earl Grey latte was a novel experience but one I would happily repeat. I haven’t tried the chocolate chai yet but I hold out high hopes as you can’t really go far wrong with chai tea!
The rest of the products are the ones I’m yet to try, the milkshakes will go to Ben as I’m not a milk person at all. The sauces and pasta are crying out to be experimented so watch this space for my creations. We might even whip up some Nachos with the tortilla chips.
Once again I was really impressed with the box and hope I’m down for the next one too *fingers crossed*. If you’d like to give Degustabox a try for yourself you can get a cheeky £3 discount when you register with the code WLU9Q
For more information you can check out Degustabox on Facebook and Twitter for ideas, inspiration and general chit chat. Let me knof if you got this box and what you thought…or if you’re going to give it a go next month for the first time!

Troll

This is probably the first blog post in which you can really see my new hair colour. After three years as a red head I decided it was time for a change and slapped on some purple dye. For the summer I’m planning to go lighter, a sort of lavender shade I think, but I’m really liking this for now- change always feels good.
Dress: Primark | Tee: Uniqlo | Shoes: Vans c/o Sarenza | Necklace: c/o Spoiled Brat
I think we should all just take a moment to appreciate how awesome this Chelsea Doll at Spoiled Brat Troll Family Necklace is. It’s one of the quirkiest necklaces I own and hands down my favourite. I was near on obsessed with troll dolls as a child so as soon as I saw this on the website I wanted it!
These photos were taken last Saturday when the sun was out and it was actually warm. This was the perfect occasion to pop on my new floral Vans and some bright tights. I seem to be living in this denim dress at the moment and it’s more than earned the £5 price tag.
So, this is the last day of my first week back at work and I’m feeling good. Tired but good. I have a post-op follow up this afternoon and I’m hoping I can be discharged from neurosurgery and focus on getting on with the rest of my life. I have no real plans for the weekend, Ben is staying for a while so if the weather is good we might go on a bike ride or a nice long walk…now it’s April it is only right the weather stays good. I love April, it’s my Birthday month and usually just has a good vibe to it.
What was your childhood toy obsession? Up to anything fun this weekend?

Easter Gifts- the one without chocolate

I thought I’d make the most of my first week back at work and give myself some easier blogging with a few Easter Gift guides. Previously I’ve not been that bothered about Easter, the chocolate side of things was stressful and we’re not a religious family…however this year, with a much better attitude toward food I’ve already eaten three chocolate eggs and I’m eagerly awaiting more!
Of course there are some people who don’t like, or can’t eat chocolate so my first gift guide is an awesome selection of non-edible gifts from my favourite gift site Find Me a Gift
The first gift on the list (top left) is by Bomb Cosmetics and is their Bath Melts Chocolate Gift Set which costs £6.49 and comprises of a selection of chocolate scented bath products that look good enough to eat (but I do advise against doing so)
Next up is the rather cute little bunny night light which costs £4.99 and comes with the option of personalisation too. I love this so much, rabbits are my favourite animal second to cats! This little fellow would be perfect for kids and grown ups alike and yeah…if someone bought me one of these I’d be super happy!
Egglings are next on the list. These are basically little egg shaped planters pre-filled with peat and seeds. You simply crack the shell and watch your garden grow! These come in both a flower and a herb variety and cost £6.99 with a choice of what you grow; the flower options are petunia or daisy (I vote daisy!) and for the herbs you can pick from mint, basil or spicy red pepper.
The bunny desk organiser is a brilliant idea! With scissors for ears and a magnetic carrot for holding paperclips this is the perfect addition to any desk. As you can see from the last two photos in this post, I was actually sent one of these by Find Me a Gift and I’m finding it so useful, not to mention adorable! I never have scissors on hand when I’m at my desk so this really was perfect for me…although my boyfriend has decided that without it’s scissor ears this becomes a carrot wielding otter. Boys! This costs £14.99 and is a saviour for any desk be it at home or at work.
My Mum bought me one of these bunny ring holders a couple of years ago so this is a gift I can really recommend. I was forever losing rings around my bedroom, so having a place to leave them at night was the perfect solution. At £7.99 this makes a lovely gift for any occasion but especially Easter!
Last but not least is one for the mini people who can’t actually eat chocolate yet. These Soft Sand Felt Bunny Slippers are one of the cutest things I have ever seen, ever! I hope they still exist should I have children one day. They cost £17.95 but the size ranges mean they should last a good year and then they can be washed and kept on display or used to pop in some mini chocolates for when the little people aren’t so little!
I hope you enjoyed this little gift guide, which of these would you like to receive? Just because not everyone enjoys or wants chocolate doesn’t mean they have to miss out and I hope this helps if you are buying for a non chocolate eater this year.

Golden Glow

Sorry for the really odd lighting in these photos- it was a super dull and gloomy day when I took them and we all know what that means! Anyway, the point of this post is to show off some fabulous jewellery I was sent by the lovely folks at Jon Richard who were one of the first companies I ever got to know as a blogger. They sent me an array of goodies from their mood collection to have a play around with and in this post I’m showing how I styled up the gold pieces that arrived.
Dress: Primark Tights: New Look | Boots: Georgia Rose at Sarenza | Jewellery: c/o Jon Richard
I don’t usually wear much gold jewellery, especially not the chunky type as I always think of it as more for evening wear. When I was presented with this necklace, a sparkly cuff (which I can’t find a link for) and a set of stacking rings I decided I was going to pair them with a day time outfit and try and break out of my jewellery stereotypes.
I picked this £5 Primark dress to offset the gold as I really like the look of grey/blue with gold tones. The cuff is on the large side for my wrists so I wore it a bit higher up the arm to keep it on and I think it looks kind of cool! The rings are actually too small for my sausage fingers but I wore one of them as a midi ring which again I think really worked and I’ve been wearing them that way ever since! The necklace is a really subtle statement piece and I loved how it worked against the dress- I’ll be wearing this for day time for sure!
I also have some silver pieces which I am yet to pair with anything, so watch this space for those posts. Sorry if this isn’t making an awful lot of sense, being back at work has pretty much wiped my brain this week!
How would you have worn these pieces?

Apache Rose

I was clearly a magpie in my former life as I’m instantly attracted to anything that shines or sparkles. It’s been a while since I last did a jewellery feature, but today I bring to you the beauty that is Apache Rose, the brainchild of Anna Burke and her passion for quirky jewellery, most notably that with a tribal feel to it. I’ve cheekily pinced a bit of text from the Apache Rose website to further explain what the shop is about.
As the trend for statement jewellery has steadily grown, Anna felt that there was a gap in the market for quality pieces that really stand the test of time, but without breaking the bank balance! This is where the idea of Apache Rose London was born.
Championing Britain’s fresh emerging talent, along with highly acclaimed international brands, Apache Rose showcases a selection of jewellery designers who all share a talent for creating the unique and beautiful. All of the jewellery designers represented work with quality materials and their pieces are clearly made with love, care and attention to detail. The work speaks for itself and just by feeling it, you can tell that you have invested in a quality piece of jewellery.
The boutique is curated by Anna herself, and her passion for tribal and ethnic inspired pieces is clearly apparent when you view the collections. In fact the very name Apache Rose London was inspired by the fact that Native Americans were some of the pioneers of statement jewellery.
The pieces I’ve pictured above are from Apache Rose’s own collection and I just love them for their “here I am” appearance and purse friendly prices (hover over the pictures to see the prices). I can imagine wearing any of these pieces with some distressed denim, a plain white tee and sunkissed skin this summer as well as dressing them up for a night out with friends.
Alongside the Apache Rose collection you’ll find British jewellery superstars such as Alice Menter and A Peace Treaty…I’m so excited to watch this website grow from strength to strength and will regularly found coveting pretty much everything it stocks.
Which piece catches your eye the most? I’m loving the chunky twist bracelets right now, but rarely for me I can see myself wearing every single piece.
