The Naming of Cats is a Difficult Matter

Jumper c/o Wearall  | Jeans: Primark | Trainers: Converse via Sarenza
Let’s start this post by talking about how amazing this jumper from Wearall is. I seriously cannot get over it- CATS, everywhere! The pastel blue colour lends itself wonderfully to faded denim and well worn Converse and this is fast going to become one of my staple weekend outfits. The jumper itself is also available in pink (which Mum instantly ordered after seeing mine) and Grey, it costs £16.45 which is an utter bargain for the quality of this, not to mention the number of cats! I now own quite a few cat themed items of clothing but I’m yet to find the perfect dress. Aside from the fact I’m skint right now, let me know if you see any good ‘uns.
Ben got these photos of me the weekend before last. I reserve judgement on how I look in them but we had good fun playing with my new camera, a Canon 1100D bought on recommendation from fellow bloggers after I enquired about a good DSLR for beginners. It’s going to take a bit more getting used to and playing with but I’m much happier with the quality of the photos, I’ve taken some crackin’ ones of Mae (who now runs a mile when she sees me coming near her wielding the camera!)
The title of this post is from the musical, CATS which happens to be one of my favourite musicals ever. It’s got me thinking though, the naming of pets is really quite important…what’s the most ridiculous pet name you’ve ever heard?

Sarenza Sunday: It’s a Secret

This week for my Sarenza Sunday post I’ve gone back to an old favourite brand of mine- Irregular Choice. Sure, some of their designs can be somewhat questionable but they also produce some real stunners, such as the pair below.
Secret Pair are just one of the many new Irregular Choice arrivals on Sarenza right now (along with a whole host of other lust-worthy shoes) and I’m smitten. Not only do they embrace the trend for all things pink, they also have the perfect day time heel height AND are just wonderfully girly with butterflies and bows. I might err towards monochrome and tartan more often than not these days but I’ll never stop being a girly girl at heart.

Etsy Obsession: PrintKitchen

I love how so many of my blogger friends are also talented crafts-people. It means guilt free shopping in my eyes, I mean it’d be so rude not to support a pal from time to time right? I might not be in a position to shop at the moment but that hasn’t stopped me compiling a big old wish list for when I can. Right now the target of my obsession is the lovely Karys’ shop on Etsy- PrintKitchen
I love the look of all the prints by Karys, there is something about the style that is so endearing. My favourite has to be the little grey cat (hover over the images for price details) although as she also does custom work I may well be requesting one of Mae in the future!
I asked Karys for a bit of information about herself to give you a better picture, here’s what she said:
I graduated two years ago from university with a degree in Fine Art where I specialised in print and illustration.
I now work as a Print Technician for a University College beside the sea which is great fun – I get to aid students with their projects and set up exhibitions along with experimenting with new techniques and materials whilst maintaining the facilities.
I am enjoying being creative again after working an office job following graduation before getting involved within the art sector again. So I decided to set up an Etsy shop with some of my prints to help me maintain my creative passion outside of work.
I always make homemade gifts for friends and family (including hand making the wrapping paper!) I enjoy being crafty so much I thought I would expand and start selling my creations!
I mainly use the medium of Screenprint which gives a great bold design however I hand draw my stencils to give them a more illustrative aesthetic. Recently I have been experimenting more with linocut and watercolour, and I hope to keep adding to my shop frequently.
As it’s a bit of fun for me I have priced my prints very affordably with free UK postage and have only made a maximum of 2 to 5 of each design, so they really are a bit unique!
I am also keen to work on some commissions and make custom artworks so feel free to contact me through etsy if you have any requests!
Let me know if you have an Etsy shop I should check out, and which of Karys’ prints is your favourite.

Interior Ambitions: Little Lovebirds

This year is very most likely the year where I finally move out of my parent’s home (I can hear their party plans already!) and set up a home of my own. This has sent me in to a kind of frenzy involving all things interiors; I’m obsessing over bowls, browsing sofas and storage and looking for quirky little accessories. All this and I have no solid plans yet!
I was recently sent this gorgeous vintage inspired birdcage lantern from hanging lanterns and although I have set it up to take photos for this post it has since been safely stored away ready for when I do fly the nest. I’ve always had a bit of a thing for candles, lanterns and all things glowy and this is simply beautiful. Powered by a teeny tiny button light this lantern is easy to assemble and adds a soft glow to any room- it can even be hung outside in the summer, I can imagine these being perfect at a laid back BBQ or even an outdoors wedding party. Although the lantern is made of paper it’s a sturdy little thing and I envisage it lasting quite some time, you can even purchase additional lights for it to prolong the life and usage.
I may not know where I’ll end up living yet but I do know that this lantern will have pride of place in the bedroom or living room, and by then I’ll probably have added to my collection.
Talk to me of your interior obsessions and of moving out of the family home.
