Printed

I love a good print and the recent bout of sunny weather has seen me ditch the bland and opt for the bold. My experiments with the new camera continue too, I’ve even had Mum involved in taking some photos which doesn’t happen enough- it’s hard to get used to posing around other people no matter how close to them you are. Coupled with a crippling crisis of body confidence and I’m generally happier using my tripod and waiting until I’m alone. Still, Mum did a good job and I’m slowly working my way through to feeling better about myself.

Dress: Primark | Top: C&A (bought in Holland) | Boots c/o Daniel Footwear

I bought this dress last Summer when ASOS were stocking a small range of Primark clothing, I then spent the entire Summer wishing I could wear it as it didn’t fit- the cut out sides gaped in a most unattractive manner. I’m glad I didn’t send it back though as it’s now become one of my layering staples and I’m a huge fan of the tribal inspired prints.

Biker boots are another of my staples and this pair from Daniel Footwear are hands down the nicest I have ever own. You know when you pop a pair of shoes on and you just know there will be no blisters or rubbing? Yeah. The leather of these is so buttery soft and they got so many compliments when I popped in to work to see colleagues. I’m going to be living in these babies until it gets too warm out to do so, and I can see them lasting for years.

I can’t get enough of this sunshine we’ve had lately. It makes a huge difference to my outlook on life. I’m not a Winter person at all and the sooner the weather hots up and I can spend hours outdoors the better! Bring on picnic lunches and wearing top to toe print. What are you most looking forward to this Spring?

Perfecting the Art of Idleness

Sitting around and doing not much at all does not come easily to me, I’m one of lifes fidgets but over the last five and a bit weeks I’ve had to curb that and learn to relax a bit. Back surgery does not go hand in hand with activity, for the first two weeks even getting around the house was a challenge, things have much improved since then but I’m still under instruction to take it easy and things like lifting and excessive activity are still out of bounds.
Forced inactivity does have it’s upsides. People coming to visit and making me endless cups of tea (with biscuits on the side!) and finally being able to catch up on the magazines that I never usually get time to read. Not having to get changed out of Pjs, or more commonly a onesie if I don’t want to and being able to binge watch Breaking Bad whilst starting and actually finishing some craft projects.
My current favourite loungewear is this onesie (for I am a convert after insisting I never would be) from Universal Textiles. Despite being fleece it’s less stifling to wear than my Onepiece one, as well as a much better fit so I’ve been at far less risk of falling over myself. With the addition of cosy socks I’ve been all set for a day of chilling out with Mae, who I’ve had so much fun laughing at over recent weeks.
My magazine loves at the moment are those shown above. I go through phases with what I buy, sometimes you’ll find Elle or Vogue in the mix but I do find them overpriced and I tend to buy what’s on offer. I have a monthly subscription to Glamour as well, and Marie Claire which comes direct to my iPad.
How do you spend your chill out days? I only have a few days of it left and hope to make the most of it, although now I’m much more mobile and Spring is springing I’m more likely to be found outside, walking or on my bike to get my core strength built back up.
Congratulations to the five winners of my Logitech giveaway! Fiona, sj, Corinne, Rachel Anderson and Monika I have attempted to make contact- get back to me asap!

Agatha

I was recently contacted by my friends at Vente-Privee about an upcoming designer sale for Parisian brand Agatha.  It wasn’t a brand I had heard of but they are set to make their presence known with a stand in Harrods (and online) as well as stores just opened in Wesfield Stratford and White City.
I was asked if I’d like to style a few pieces from the collection to celebrate the upcoming sale, and being the jewellery fiend that I am I of course said yes! I allowed Vente-Privee to pick the pieces to make this more of a challenge.

Tee: Uniqlo | Skirt: Dorothy Perkins | Jewellery c/o Agatha @ vente-privee | Boots: Miista

The jewellery that arrived wasn’t in keeping with my usual style. It’s a lot more “Rock Chick” than you’ll usually see in my wardrobe and at first I wasn’t really sure how I could make it work. Despite the sunny weather outside I decided, in the end that keeping things simple with monochrome was the way forwards and teamed all three pieces with a trusty black tee, my favourite floaty skirt and my bargain boots from Miista.

I’m not sure I was a total success in capturing the pieces in their full glory. In real life they have a real luxe feel to them and are clearly of the highest quality. The earrings have barely left my ears since their arrival and the watch and bracelet have been stacked together on my wrist more than once!

The sale will open on vente-privee Thursday morning at 6am for a limited time flash sale where members can shop the pieces (including those you styled) with fantastic prices (generally it’s 50-70% off RRP). It’s a very limited sale and all the visuals for the sale have been created by our teams in-house to make sure they really keep to the brand’s existing DNA.

For those who are not members but wish to shop the collection, registration is super quick and easy at this link: here

Coral Reef

Well, here I am wearing colour, again. Can you tell I am so excited for those warmer days? I’m really looking forward to Summer this year despite having no holiday plans. I just want to make the most of being back in full health with no broken foot or wonky back. In only six days time I’ll be heading back to work, where has the last five and a bit weeks since my operation gone? It baffles me but I’m not going to complain as each day brings us closer to Spring!
Dress: c/o Rare London | Shoes: Georgia Rose via Sarenza (old) | Jewellery: Anna Lou of London and Next
I LOVE this dress, it makes me happy just looking at it, with it’s bright colour and pretty floral halter neck. Coral isn’t a colour I’ve ever really tried, I didn’t see it working for me with red hair and pale skin but I think I’m converted. I got a bit carried away playing dress up and popped on these gold sparkly sandals too, I think I’m just embracing being able to do that now- I don’t think I ever got a chance to wear these shoes before I had my foot accident in Zara!
Rare have some really stunning dresses in stock right now, they’ve always been a brand I associate with getting dressed up, and with a wedding to go to this Summer I know where I’ll be looking when it comes to outfit shopping.
Are there any colours you’ve avoided only to find they actually suit you?

Better Things Ahead

Oh Spring, hurry up and properly arrive would you? I’m so over knit wear and stompy boots, I want pretty pastel dresses and strappy sandals. The dress I’m wearing in this post is the perfect example of how I want my Spring/Summer style to be, it’s from Missguided who have THE best selection of summer style that I’ve seen so far.

Dress: c/o Missguided | Tights: Primark | Shoes: c/o Tamaris

As it isn’t yet bare leg weather (for me it needs to be a heatwave!) I teamed the dress with some shimmering palest pink tights as a change from the usual nude and then popped on these stunning sandals from Tamaris‘ new collection. Tamaris are a brand that have slowly crept on to my shoe radar and with their new S/S collection they have well and truly cemented their place, they have some really gorgeous shoes coming out- think beautiful flats as well as killer heels. I own a couple of pairs of shoes by the brand and always find them ultra comfortable and long lasting. I’m going to be wearing these sandals so much this Summer, once I’ve re-mastered walking in heels.

It was instant love when I saw this dress on the Missguided website, hidden among all their other killer new arrivals. I wish I was more of a bodycon girl as there are some sugary sweet pastel skirts I have my eye on as well as a huge array of playsuits and cropped tops. Sadly my confidence doesn’t allow for that- neither does my untoned figure but I know so many people who will rock the heck out of them.

It looks like I’m slowly ditching my Winter love of monochrome and moving towards all things colour, you just can’t help but feel cheerful when wearing something bright!
