Sarenza Sunday: hot stuff

Spring is (almost) in the air and new season stock is arriving thick and fast at Sarenza. The second I logged on the Barkin by Pepe Jeans, £99 caught my eye- how could it not in those near neon brights? I am in love with both the pink and yellow shades and don’t think they should be reserved for the warmer days…If I owned these beauties I’d be experimenting with dresses and fun tights or cutesy socks peeping out under jeans, £99 suddenly seems like a bargain when you think of the versatility of such a shoe, it’s easy to be put off by a bright colour but often I find more combinations with colour than I do with black, and I think that’s reason enough to be seriously considering splashing out on one colour or another when they are in stock in my size.

What’s caught your eye out of Sarenza’s latest offerings? If you haven’t looked before you are in for a treat, I promise.

lonely hearts club

Dress: c/o Phase Eight
Boots: Yull
Tights: Probably Tesco but possibly Primark?!
Bracelet: Pandora
I’m not usually a fan of surprises, I prefer routine and knowing what’s going to happen but when the postman delivered this Phase Eight dress of dreams I squealed out loud; I had NO idea they were going to send it and feel like the luckiest girl ever.
Does it live up to my expectations and long-lived lust? Oh yes it does. My photos (as ever) do not do this justice…I wore it to work on Thursday and got so many compliments. The cut and fit is beautiful too, I’ll pretty much live in this and I am very tempted to splash out on a couple more dresses at some point as they just fit me perfectly.
Well, welcome to the weekend. I’m actually at work this morning hence the early hour of this post; I swear pre-work is the only real spare time I get to focus. I finish at 11 though as it’s only a short Saturday surgery so I’m heading in to town for a pay day shopping trip and my first real spend up since I came off crutches…I reckon I deserve that, right? Between that and finally finding peace with myself I think a treat or two is the least I can do.

What are your plans this weekend? Whatever they are, enjoy them…we survived the most depressing month of the year and that is cause for celebration.

that time I tried disco pants

Jumper: Random cheap shop in town
Disco Pants c/o Fashion Union
Boots: Sarenza
Look at me jumping on a blogger bandwagon…never in a million years did I see myself in a pair of skin tight disco pants but having seen them on so many other people and loving how they looked, when Fashion Union offered up the chance to try a pair I figured I had nothing to lose.
I can’t even begin to explain what a big step this is for me, six months ago this would not have happened. That’s enough said about that though.
In short, I loved these. So much so that I didn’t care that I was still wearing my super cheap slouch around the house Christmas style jumper still. I loved how they fit, how I felt in them and how they made my legs look (woah there!)…
and then I tried to get them off.
Perhaps I should have renamed this post “that time I got stuck in disco pants”. Please, please tell me I am not the only person who’s got stuck in these before. Dammit. Goodbye dignity.
Still,
I guess if I save them for special occasions like drunken nights out my dignity will be long gone by the time I remove them.

Do you disco?

daisy chain dreaming: L.K Bennett

I think payday brings out my online browsing monster more than ever, and it was pretty rampant to start with. Give me an afternoon off work with no obligations and you’ll find me glued to my laptop catching up on blogs in one tab, tweeting on another and the third (and fourth, and fifth) will be various online retailers.
Today’s object of desire is pretty much ALL the shoes by L.K. Bennett. I can tell I’m growing up as previously I would have skipped over this brand completely but right now I’m loving what they’ve got and my favourites are as above.

1. Because it’s still winter, much to my disgust, I figured a pair of boots ought to feature. Ok so they might not be the most practical of boots but dammit they are sexy and I want them, BAD. It’s breaking my heart that they cost £325!

2. Second up are these fantastic suede and satin sandals, in the sale at £125 they are a little more reasonable and it is probably just as well my size has sold out because there is something about the chunky cut and bold black against pale pink couple with the almost lingerie type detailing that I’m swooning over.

3. HELLO brightness. I want to team these coral beauties with tapered black trousers or a modest little black dress and inject some colour in to the office. The website calls these berry but I think they lie, have you ever seen a berry that colour? Either way a name is but a name, the fact is these are amazing and when I next need some “grown up” classic shoes these might be it. £170 doesn’t seem tooooo bad for something well made and of lasting quality. I’m not sure who I’m trying to justify to here.

4. I think we’ve gathered by now that I can’t resist a pastel anything (Fruit Pastilles too come to think of it). These are my dream spring shoe to be worn with everything from floral dresses to laid back denim. I’d have to wear them with everything, including pyjamas to be able to allow myself to buy them, I could probably afford them but would be moaning my skint status all month…oh decisions decisions. I might let shopping karma decide and if they ever go in to the sale then they are mine.

5. Last but by no means least I introduce the sensible shoe. My foot is still quite sore and not up to full time heel wear. Flats can be pretty boring but these are far from it. I’m a sucker for leopard print, I have no idea why as I spent many a year loathing it. I can see these flats working well for a lot of occasions which is surprising given their print and more casual look. Bonus is that they are in the sale which makes it all the more tempting.

So pretty much I am oh so close to loading my virtual basket and clicking “confirm”. I really need to find better ways to spend my time, don’t I?

walk on the wild side

Dress: River Island via Asos
Top: Holland
Boots: New Look
I am a little bit in love with this River Island dress, the second I saw it in the ASOS sale I knew I had to have it and for a mere £11.50 I couldn’t be happier. One of the upsides to being tall is the ability to wear midi and maxi styles, it kind of makes up for most short dresses being indecent.
It’s the last day of January and Pay Day (capitals required) so I’m in a pretty chipper mood. The weekend is drawing ever closer too although I am working Saturday morning so it’s not quite so exciting. One way or another it’s been a really good week full of work accomplishments, exciting post and baking (and subsequently making the house smell of gingerbread), it’s so nice to be rid of those blues and when they do come back weeks like this serve as a reminder that nothing lasts forever.
How is your week turning out? Good I hope?! I never know how to finish off posts, hence the random small talk and questions.
I’ll leave one more for you before I dash off…
favourite style of dress? I might steal some inspiration.
