That Tartan Trend

Jumper: Primark
Kilt: Vintage from ebay
Boots: New Look
Fascinator: Crown and Glory
The second I saw this Christmas Pudding fascinator on Crown and Glory I knew I needed it, in fact I remember responding to a facebook post about how there needed to be something Christmas Pudding related so really it would have been rude not to make the purchase. If puddings aren’t your  thing then there are a whole host of festive head wear, I also really quite fancy the Glitter Holly Hairclip.
Moving on from the Christmas theme…
this kilt has to be my favourite ever ebay purchase. I think it was less than a tenner last year, before tartan really became a “trend”. I started becoming obsessed with all things tartan at that point and now own a modest selection of clothing featuring it. I love how heavy and warm this skirt is and the midi length and nipped in waist just seems to suit my figure. I wish all skirts were made like this!
It’s the weekend and oh so close to Christmas. Where is time going?
What are you up to this weekend? Any festive goings on? It’s going to be more chilling out and relaxing here whilst my back continues to improve. I go back to work on the 23rd December and I can’t wait for it to hurry up and get here. Impatient, me?

XFactor Finals 2013- What Will Nicole Scherzinger Wear?

Guest Post by Nathalie Martin @martinnathalie9
As the XFactor finals draw swiftly closer, there is only one question every budding fashionista wants to know the answer to. What will Nicole Scherzinger wear this weekend?
If last week’s semi -finals are anything to go by then we are in for a treat.  Nicole combined elegance with raw sex appeal, gracing the stage in a barely-there black lace and glitter dress by Michael Cinco and leaving little to the imagination.  Sharon Osbourne also rocked out in a black full length sequinned creation, but as usual, all eyes rested on the fabulous Ms Scherzinger.

The week before was almost equally as exciting when Nicole treated us to Hollywood glamour. Gracing our screens first in a ruby red sparkly Zuhair Murad dress and then in a striking black creation by Stephane Rolland she left us in little doubt over her star status. Simply ‘schamazing’!

Keen as ever to inject some Scherzinger pazzaz into my own wardrobe, I turned to my favourite online store Goddiva. Boasting a huge section on Nicole Scherzinger, I knew I would find something to satisfy my fashion cravings and I was not disappointed! Here are some affordable mesh insert black evening dresses that are bound to turn heads at any party. I’ve ordered the one second from the right and can’t wait to get my mitts on it!

If you are looking to emulate the ‘Sch- amazing’ Scherzinger sparkle then check out this sizzling hot number below.  For a fraction of the price of a Zuhair Murad dress, you can still strut your stuff like a celebrity diva. Oh, and before you ask, I couldn’t resist ordering this one too!
Anyway, back to the XFactor finals. As an avid Nicole fan, I really can’t help but savour my own predictions for her ‘final’ dress. Taking inspiration from her style journey throughout the course of 2013, she could well decide to dazzle us with more saucy sequins, mesmerising mesh, or an edgy cut out design. However, knowing Ms Scherzinger and her ability to get fashion tongues wagging it could be a startling combination of all three.

What’s your prediction? I would love to know 😉

Christmas Looks with Guess Jewellery

It’s no secret that I’m a Guess Jewellery girl so when I was asked to collaborate with them to celebrate the launch of their new TV ad it was a total no-brainer

I was sent a beautiful bangle and asked to style it up with my favourite Christmas party outfits. It wasn’t a chore. It goes with so many things, infact I ended up picking two outfits- one for a big night out and another for drinks with the girls.

The bangle, from the AW Glamazon collection which is my favourite Guess Jewellery collection to date.

For my big night out outfit I team the bangle with a gorgeously ornate dress from Miss Selfridge which really only needs one accessory to make it pop, and some shoes by Jeffrey Campbell which seem in keeping with the almost 1920s style of the dress. I think this whole outfit works so well together as all the different silver and black shades blend seamlessly and fit with the nude colour of the dress without overshadowing it.

I then decided the bangle also needed showcasing in a more casual setting so created a little outfit for drinks with friends over the festive period. The dress was a bargain at £14.99 from New Look, I fell in love with it’s flock print and rich colour. I’d probably brave it and go bare legged (well, nude tights at most) and rock my favourite boots ever from Miista which were another bargain at £6.50. The bangle works so well with this tougher, more causal look…it’s a real hardworker to be honest, moving from a delicate party look to a more casual yet still dressy look (I can vouch for it working well with jeans and a jumper, too) with ease. A simple silver necklace finished off this look.

How would you style up this bangle?

Jumper Dress: New Look (here)
Tights c/o Charnos
Boots: New Look
Is there anything more comfortable than a jumper dress for the winter? I used to own quite a collection of them but I’m now down to just two, this one which I couldn’t resist picking up from New Look and an old faithful from Next. I’m not even sure what happened to the others, I suppose I grew out of them.
I popped this one for yet another lazy sick day with the second pair of tights that Charnos sent me. I didn’t realise until I put them on that they had sparkly thread through them- bonus! I don’t even know why I bothered with shoes, so much effort and so pointless really. I’ve been getting out for daily walks but that’s usually in the afternoons and I took these in the morning!
I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately and looking back at this time last year. I can’t believe how much has changed,
it’s making me so excited for 2014 and a continuation in the positive direction.
Jumper dress fans, where do your favourites come from?

Dear Santa- Mark Milton Entwine Collection

It’s often not a jewellery brand as stunning as this passes me by and I’m not quite sure how I’ve gone so long without hearing of Mark Milton, especially his beautiful Entwine collection of bracelets. I’m not a huge bracelet wearer so when I see one I like and can see myself wearing I know it must be special.
The design comes in four colourways- 18 carat white gold vermeil, 18 carat yellow gold vermeil, Sterling silver plated with black rhodium and 18 carat rose gold. They all cost a not unreasonable £125 each and I’m having a hard time picking out which one I like the best. The white gold suits my usual style best and yet the yellow gold is so timelessly chic. The black rhodium toughens up the design somewhat and would be perfect to sport alongside the trends for this Winter and, well, the rose gold…what blogger doesn’t love themselves some rose gold?
Of course it’s not just the bracelets that caught my eye. The Entwine Collection also incorporates the same design in necklace form, with which I am almost equally as smitten
Again available in the four colourways the necklace is as you’d expect a bit more expensive at £195. I wonder if I dare ask Santa for both? I’m pretty sure I’ve been a very good girl this year…
Which colour would you go for?
