time to toughen up

No matter what the weather or what time of year it is there will always be a part of me that is drawn to anything black and studded. I’m not sure when it started. At first I was a denim girl, then the one who always wore a floral dress. These days I mix it up a bit more and yet the one thing I truly like, I barely seem to sport.
It’s probably because I appear to have rather expensive taste, as evidenced above by this little wishlist from Brand Boudoir. It’s not as expensive as it could be given that everything sold on the website is heavily discounted (almost enough reason to justify those divine Ash boots) being an outlet site specialising in past season stock.
I’m not one to be bothered by seasons when it comes to fashion, if I like something I like it regardless of whether it’s past, present or future. I still wear things I bought five, sometimes ten years ago…mixed in with something I may have picked up just the other day.
I think you have more fun that way. And perhaps it’s time I had fun by mixing up my style.
What are your thoughts?
(and what have I tempted you to buy?)

Sunrise, Sunset

Dress c/o Chi Chi
Doesn’t this dress remind you a bit of a sunset? I love this combination of colours, so perfect for a Summer night. I always feel a bit strange doing these kind of posts because I lack the ability/style/photography skill to do something different or more interesting, but I shan’t let it stop me showing off some of my favourite clothing- you just have to look past the mundane setting. Perhaps I ought to start roping the boy in to playing photographer (I feel a plan forming).
I think I’ll bring this dress with me to Spain- I can imagine going for dinner and then walking down the beach in this. Oh I am so excited. One week and six days and I’ll be there. The weather we had here recently has fuelled the excitement. I might enjoy a good moan about how hot and sweaty and drained I am but I still can’t get enough of the sunshine.
This is the third (I think) dress I’ve had and loved from Chi Chi, they really are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to dressing up. Have you purchased from there yet? Take a browse, it’s almost payday!

P.S. thank you to everyone who entered my ASOS giveaway- massive congratulations to Terri Lowe, the gorgeous winner.

Fashion meets music with Zalando

A few weeks ago the folks at Zalando GmbH got in touch asking if I’d like to take part in a challenge to celebrate Festival Season in the UK.
Myself and three other (much more stylish) UK bloggers were gifted £100 to spend on the website to create a music themed outfit. We were given a list of genres to choose from- anything from Classical through to Reggae and we had to create the outfit to fit that chosen genre. I let the boy pick my category as he’s a musician and I’m well, indecisive. He also picked the outfit so fair play to him- I’ve got a keeper there!
Here’s the final result of the project…
My outfit consisted of:
This look was so far out of my comfort zone and what I usually wear even though it was fairly tame. Still, it’s good to experiment right? And the entire process was really good fun!
What do you think? What’s your favourite music genre?

Blimey, Bon Prix

Leather look tee- £24.99

High-low chiffon skirt- £19.99

Skater skirt- £17.99

Leather gladiator sandals- £29.99

Swimsuit- £14.99

Last week I wrote about retailers that have upped their game recently and I would right now like to add Bon Prix and their clothing for women to the list.
It’s not somewhere I would have ever thought to look had it not been for blogging and seeing wishlists pop up left right and center over the last couple of weeks. I had to take a peek for myself and was impressed with what I saw.
As always seems to be the case with me, it was the prices that seriously impressed. Nothing in my selection is over £30, and even that is for a pair of real leather sandals (that would be just perfect for my holiday). I’m mostly done with holiday shopping now but I wouldn’t mind adding those shoes, and that swimsuit for the days where I don’t feel like a bikini. Oh, and the chiffon skirt would be perfect for evening meals on the beach followed by a walk along the sand in search of a party (or most likely, ice cream).
Looking ahead to the new season it doesn’t get more fashion forward than this leather look tee; the perfect addition to my work wardrobe with potential for weekends too. I do like a good value multi-tasker and this is it.
Not quite fitting in to any season is the yellow skater skirt. It wouldn’t be a wishlist from me without my favourite style popping up now would it?
Have you checked out Bon Prix lately? I applaud them for branching out and appealing to a younger audience.

working day attire

Top: New Look
Skirt: Primark
Shoes: Georgia Rose
I may still lack the body for pencil skirts (one day my weight will catch up with my food intake) but I had a sudden yearning to wear one for work the other day, and so I did. Tight fitting clothing has long been my enemy so if I am ever in the mindset to wear it, I roll with that.
Loving this top from New Look- I think it was £9.99 and it seems to be a hit in general as at least one of my work colleagues said they own it too. It’s so light and airy and will also be perfect for my holiday; which I will shut up about soon!
I’m not sure why I’m posting work wear on a weekend,
I certainly don’t intend to think about work much today, nope. I shall be heavily focused on chilling out in the park, or the boy’s garden. Or a mixture of the two. I love spending weekends with him, especially as it often involves spending time with other friends and family too.
Perfect.
What are you up to this weekend?
