Bold as Brass with La Jewellery- gift guide AND giveaway

Allow me to introduce you to one of my long time favourite jewellery brands, La Jewellery. I know I feature a fair bit of jewellery on this blog and with so much out there on the market there has to be something about the brand or the pieces (or both) that really stand out. For La Jewellery it’s their ethics. Everything is eco-friendly, fair trade and affordable.
Whilst there is a whole host of stunning pieces on the website it’s the brass collection that I’m featuring today. Not typically talked about much on the blogs I read I personally think that brass makes beautiful jewellery has that unique edge. There are pieces in this little gift guide for men and women and I’ve tried to keep it as budget friendly as possible.

Gift Guide for the Bag Mad

I know, I know…I’ve gone well and truly OTT with gift guides and all things similar this year but outfits are still a no go- not when it takes someone else to get shoes on for you and your left leg only partially wants to work. Maybe next week, maybe…
So for today’s gift guide I’m bringing you affordable, bright and fun bags from a personal favourite of mine; Satchels and Shoes which will satisfy any bag addict you know (yes, that does include yourself)
None of these bags cost over £30. Bargain.
Nude Pastel Satchel Bag- £24.95

Emerald Classic Buckle Satchel Bag, with long strap- £29.95. This style comes in a whole rainbow of colours.

Emerald Satchel Bag with long strap- £27.95 (this one is my favourite I think, a fun colour for a classic shape)

Black Tote Bag- £29.95

Brown Ladies Grab Handbag- £26.95
This is just a small selection of what Satchels and Shoes has to offer, so if you’re thinking of giving the gift of a bag this Christmas then do check them out, there really is something for everyone.
Which bag from the website would you pick?

The Innocent Big Knit

I think by now everyone has seen those cute little bottles of Innocent Smoothies on the shelves sporting their cute little knitted hats. This started way back in 2003 and what I’m sharing today is what exactly do those little hats mean?
Innocent work alongside Age UK and the money raised from the sale of the smoothies has helped fund a whole host of winter initiatives both locally and nationally to help support vulnerable elderly people and give them some support and advice, as well as company to get them through the long winter months.
So far Innocent have raised a whopping £1.5 million and 5 million mini hats have been knitted.
How the big knit works.

This year alone over 1 million hats have been knitted from people of all ages and there have been some fantastic designs- a reindeer, a giant squid and a policeman to name just a few.
How exciting would it be to see your design on the shelf?

The knitting phase for this year is over but the smoothies are on sale in all large supermarkets as well as Boots and Costa Coffee- and you might find them pop up in a few other places too.

For every smoothie sold 25p goes to Age UK,
you can also create a virtual hat  where 10p for every hat created and shared will go to the Age UK.

You can text to donate £3 (100% goes to the charity, network charges will apply) by texting “KNIT” to 70004

Have you ever knitted a hat? How will you be supporting the Big Knit this year? It’s a cause close to my heart as I work with a lot of vulnerable elderly folk as part of my job. I’m buying smoothies, creating a virtual hat, I’m in the process of sending a text and I am determined to learn to knit so I can send in my design next year!

Midori & Models Own

“Midori melon liqueur has teamed up with Models Own to create a limited edition set of melon scented nail varnishes in three glam shades of green.
The three Midori inspired shades are the perfect way to add a splash of colour to a night in or night out during the dreary winter months ahead. What’s more, the varnishes are melon scented, making every manicure smell as good as a Midori cocktail tastes.
The set includes a bright My Midori green, a golden metallic green and a glittery combination of greens and blues meaning there’s a shade for any occasion.
Midori, which literally means ‘green’ in Japanese, is made from premium melons prized for their juiciness and fresh and vibrant taste.  The liqueur is vibrant, versatile and easy to drink making it the perfect cocktail ingredient to create cocktails with a twist that you can mix up at home or enjoy in some of the best bars up and down the country. It also makes delicious drinks simply mixed with juices and soft drinks.
The limited edition My Midori Models Own set will retail at £15 from www.modelsownit.com from the end of October 2013.”

On the back of this press release landing in my inbox last week I was also sent a set of the nail polishes to try out myself. Models Own are top of my list for nail polish brands and I was really excited to see how these were in real life.

The set is quite something and I loved all three colours- a rarity in a predetermined set of colours! I had a little play about with Golden Green (left) and Dancing Queen (middle) and did a quick manicure
I rarely get to paint my nails because of my job so I am very out of practice but I absolutely love Golden Green and Dancing Queen complimented it beautifully.
I’m yet to try My Midori Green, super brights scare me a little but I might take the plunge soon! The polishes really do have a pleasing melon scent. Consider me very impressed! All I need now is a Midori cocktail.
Will you be getting your hands on these?
What other Models Own shades do you love?

P.S. Congratulations to Louise W, winner of the Australia Luxe giveaway!

Don’t forget there’s the Babycham giveaway going on and I have another exciting one coming soon.

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Alternative title: A little more onesie love.
Maybe it’s the painkillers talking but I really am now feeling the need for more onesies in my life. The beauties I am about to share below are from the one and only Marks and Spencer and I’m think that perhaps with ten more days of sick leave (at least) ahead of me I need all three just to vary things up a little!

All three onesies cost £25 and I am desperate for the cotton rich penguin print one (last picture)
All available in store and online now!
I reckon these would make fantastic Christmas gifts even if your not a onesie fan yourself.
