Sarenza Sunday: A Step too Far?

Believe it or not, the hi-tops above are by Converse; the brand I probably least expected to jump on the wedge trainer trend.
I’m not sure how I feel about this, I’m not against the trend in general, I do indeed own a pair of wedge trainers, but Converse? A brand I associate as a classic, who’s idea of following trends is to release some cool patterns and new season colours…I’m not sure I’m ok with this.
They aren’t offensive to look at, far from it, I just think my traditionalist instinct kicks in a bit here and says no. I guess they will be a marmite shoe, one that tears shoe lovers apart- what are your thoughts on this new venture from Converse? Maybe I’ll come around to the idea, maybe I’ll eventually end up owning a pair, but I doubt it. For me, my Converse-d feet need to stay flat on the ground and my next purchase will probably be something girly and pastel as a nod to Summer.
Should you wish to purchase them (and I won’t hold it against you) they are available here at Sarenza ((and this post is in no way criticising Sarenza, I was just scouring the new arrivals and saw these!))
I’d be really interested in hearing how you feel.

Very x Glamour

Dress c/o Very
Boots: Yull
I’m not a big magazine reader these days but one I am, and will forever be loyal to is Glamour magazine. When I read that they were teaming up with very.co.uk to release a capsule collection of clothing I was intrigued and excited. I was even more excited when I was offered the chance to choose two items from the range for myself (the second will feature in another post). This dress perfectly sums up my love of monochrome right now and is the perfect daytime outfit. I bravely (given that it was snowing) teamed it with these white tights for a bit of a sixties vibe. The dress retails at £49 which is more than I would typically want to spend on one item of clothing but having seen and worn it now I wouldn’t hesitate in splashing out on more from the range.
Below are a few more of my favourite pieces, which is pretty much the entire collection to be honest!

Prices range from £15 to £49 and are available to buy from www.very.co.uk/glamour

Were you aware of the pairing? What are your thoughts (and which magazines are you loyal to?)

sparkle in my step

Jumper: Next
Skirt c/o Clothing at Tesco (ages ago)
Boots: New Look
Necklace: Wolf and Moon
I’m not really supposed to be buying more shoes, but when a pair of ankle boots with glitter on them reduced to £10 just happen to be in your size it would be SO rude not to, right? I’ve seen a few bloggers snag these New Look boots up in the sale but had given up hope of finding a pair for myself…clearly these shoes and I were meant to be and now we’re going to live happily ever after.
This skirt is another of those pieces I had kind of forgotten about. It was too big for me for ages and since it started fitting again I just couldn’t work out how I wanted to wear it. I’m not sure this outfit was the answer I was looking for but it served a purpose for my early Wednesday morning- I think starting work at 7:15am is reason enough not to make much of an effort!
Somehow it’s Friday again and I’m hoping it goes quickly. Yesterday at work things were eerily quiet…sometimes I moan about how chaotic it can get, but the silence?! That was strange. I’m hoping we don’t pay for it today though!
Weekend plans people? One of my cousins is visiting so I’m thinking a semi quiet one and a pub lunch Sunday. Bliss.

Bonus shot of Mae because she’s not on the blog enough.

velvet midnight

Cream Lace Tee: New Look
Blue Velvet Midi Skirt c/o Bristol St Vintage
Boots: Ellos
This is only the second time I’ve worn this beautiful velvet skirt from Bristol St Vintage. I’m not sure why as it really is my idea of a dream skirt but I do find it somewhat hard to style. I kind of feel like that with regards ot most of my wardrobe at the moment, so many bits and pieces yet nothing is well thought out or seems to go together.
I wore this outfit on Sunday (I’m so behind myself) to chill out with Ellie at the newly opened Impero Lounge in Portishead, local to us. Hello to our new favourite coffee (and lunch and just general hang-out spot), we’ve both been fans the Lounges chain for a while so it’s great that something has opened pretty much on our doorsteps and we’re both in love with the spacious, clean and friendly atmosphere.
I’m feeling the urge to do some serious shopping at the moment and overhaul my wardrobe for Spring/Summer. I always say this and never do it. I need to be saving money anyway, for both my holiday in August and an upcoming overnight trip to London with my Mum near my birthday. Last year my birthday went without much notice by me, or anyone due to what was going on at the time. This year I intend to celebrate to the max.
Do you have a favourite place to hang out with friends?
