"you look kind of…Scottish"

The title of the post refers to how I was greeted upon my arrival at work on Monday. I can kind of see my colleague’s point; I was wearing a kilt and I do have Scot blood in me…I can live with that description quite happily.

I bought the kilt on ebay for a bargain price after seeing some gorgeous tartan skirts featured in Grazia magazine a few weeks ago. I’m not usually one to buy in to trends but something about this just drew me in and I’m rather delighted with my purchase.
I paired it with a simple black Primark knit and a vintage silver necklace. My Yull Chelsea boots were once again plated firmly on my feet.

I’m not quite sure why my face looks so orange in these photos, I swear I looked a lot more matching in real life! Oh cameras, you and I are destined to never get along.

Speaking along, I’d best move my ass along to work. Wednesday early starts are getting even harder now it’s dark and cold first thing. Winter has so few redeeming factors.

What was your last ebay bargain? Would you wear a kilt?

shelikes metallics

Primark Jumper, Jeans c/o shelikes and Blink boots via Sarenza.

I’m not even going to go there on how far out of my comfort zone this outfit is. Skinny jeans I can barely move in…I’m determined to learn to love them!

When shelikes got in touch inviting me to pick something from their site I was instantly drawn to these (it was these of disco pants and I’m not quite *there* yet). I love them. They are so not me, but at the same time they really are. I only wore these for the purpose of this post, I think really they are best reserved for an evening out that doesn’t involve a lot of sitting down, but I am determined to wear them again and again…jeans don’t have to be falling down, sometimes it’s ok to have things that fit as they should…am I the only one with this kind of phobia?

Moving on, for those not aware, shelikes is a gem of a website with on trend pieces at brilliant prices. There is quite a lot I have my eye on (including disco pants!) so watch this space for them featuring more on the blog.

What do you think of this outfit? Should I banish these jeans or keep on embracing my new found figure?

scruffy in pink

You know, even with the wide variety of beautiful women’s clothing out there I still cannot resist the lure of jeans and a jumper especially when the weekend rolls around. With the weather being so vile on Saturday I could think of nothing that fitted the bill better than my faithful Oasis jeans (considering never buying them anywhere else!) and this old New Look jumper. The Docs were a BIG mistake, the sound effects from my foot as I battled to get them on were enough to render me nauseous and dizzy, and the pain…well, yeah. Lesson learnt. They have been banished for a few more weeks yet.

How cute is my little necklace from Wolf and Moon? I’ve been eyeing them up for a while and finally decided to treat myself as a little reward. I can’t get over how sparkly it is and it got so many compliments when I wore it to work.

I did feel a bit of a scruff wearing this outfit, but at the same time it was warm and comforting. Comfort wins over style most days for me, and weekends have to be more comfortable than most!

Does your style vary at the weekends?
Where is your staple for jeans?

Alternative shoe of the week: La Paire

I’m taking a quick week off my Sarenza shoe of the week (not that there isn’t a LOT on there I could feature) to introduce you to Spanish sensation La Paire a new shoe brand that specialises in handmade Spanish leather sandals. The ethos behind the label is simple; elegant shoes made from the finest leathers in a selection of vibrant shades and eye catching styles.

La Paire was born as a result of founder Amy La’s own quest for comfortable yet stylish leather sandals. Driven by her frustration and inability to find quality, affordable and colourful styles, Amy decided to create her own shoe label.   The label not only reflects Amy’s passion for beautiful and bold shoes but also superior craftsmanship.
Not only are the shoes super comfortable, they are affordable, light and easy to pack and wear.

You might think it a little un-seasonable and I would half agree, but with the highstreet launching their S/S ranges here there and everywhere and with the possibility that at least some of you are jetting off for some winter sun I thought it worth posting!
As you can see I was sent a pair to review although I have only been able to try the left shoe on so there aren’t any “modelled” photos. From what I HAVE tried though I can tell you that these are beautiful, comfortable and so very worth the price tag (between £80 and £90 depending on the style). I fell in love with Spain over the summer and was delighted to try something so utterly Spanish. These will be coming with me on next year’s adventure and no doubt worn to death.

I’m a big fan of these shoes and will be eagerly anticipating more to come from the brand, I love finding out about smaller labels and supporting them where possible and with a range of three styles in bold, bright colours, handmade in Spain I think there are big things to come from La Paire.

What do you think? Next on my wishlist is the Praia Rainbow pair and I’d love to see some ballet flats or even heeled sandals pop in to the range.

Now, make me jealous, those of you with winter breaks planned; where are you off to?

Lust List: Kristina Goes West

One of the major up-sides to blogging is discovering sites and brands you would otherwise never know about. Kristina Goes West is one such site, I was first alerted to it after a twitter follow led to me taking a peek and liking what I saw. An e-mail or two later from Kristina and a bit of an education about what the site stands for and we get this here blog post.

The online boutique is already over a year old but has recently relaunched; It is the first online boutique to showcase the best established and up-and-coming designers from the Baltic region which is bursting with fresh and daring fashion designers. Kristina Goes West is passionate about getting people to think about Baltic fashion in a new light and I think that when you take a look at the website you will view it as mission accomplished!

All of the items on the website have been selected especially to maintain the Nordic spirit and banish the stereotypes, if you’re looking for an off the wall unique or bespoke piece I strongly suggest you pay a visit. To help showcase what is on offer I’d like to share the “Dark Snow Queen” outfit that features some of my favourite pieces.

Kristina Goes West probably isn’t somewhere you are going to visit for your everyday wear but just look at how striking everything is! I have a major softspot for quirky rings and the amber beauty shown above at £40 is fitting the bill perfectly! If I had unlimited funds the coat would already be winging it’s way to me and please, just don’t get me started on how much I love the bags. For me the only thing the website is lacking is some killer shoes!

What sites has blogging introduced you to? Take a little peek at Kristina Goes West and tell me what YOU think
