resistance is futile

I may not exactly be looking forward to Christmas this year, but a week off work and plans for gift shopping with Mum and Best Friend on Tuesday left me craving a festive knit. I spent a hideous amount on this jumper from topshop last year and I am determined to bring it’s cost per wear down to a more reasonable level (that’s my excuse!). Teamed with a trusty skater skirt, again from New Look‘s tall section and my favourite Steve Madden flats c/o Sarenza I couldn’t help but be cheerful. These shoes are not one to wear if you plan on being subtle, I got stopped twice by strangers wanting to compliment them (and the jumper also got it’s fair share of attention too).

And it would seem that this week off has been exactly what was needed. It’s coming to an end now- rounding off with another shopping trip with Mum (we love our girls time and the crowds don’t seem quite so menancing when I can gently prod people out of my way), and tomorrow a trip to the theater with school friends and I feel rested, calmer and quite a lot happier and at peace with decisions I have made. I didn’t realise quite how stressed out I was getting until I actually stopped; I think an indulgently chilled out weekend is required ready for the madness that will be a GP practice in the two weeks before Christmas.

Have you broken out your festive knit yet? It’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

skater girl

I’m having a bit of a love-fest for all things skater at the moment and this Tall Skater Dress from New Look isn’t helping. At £12.99 it was too much of a bargain to resist, and like the skirt I picked up a couple of weeks ago the added bit of length stops me flashing my knickers to all and sundry.
I always feel quite girly in skater style skirts and dresses, I love the way they nip in at the waist and then flare out, they seem to cover a multitude of sins and go with just about everything. I wore mine with some Betsy Johnson floral tights and those trusty boots that are only a week old but already a firm favourite. For a bit of glitz I added my sparkly rabbit necklace from Wolf & Moon…I’m finally remembering to actually put jewellery on!

How is it already Thursday? WHERE is my week off going? It’s been lovely, if not somewhat limited but some down time with Mum has been very much appreciated. Another low key day today, I need to rest that foot of mine ready to hit Cabot Circus tomorrow for some serious shopping! I might take the tinsel off the crutches though (oh yes, I went there) and reserve that for the work Christmas party and Blogger meet up next weekend; although there is an outside chance I might not need them by then- fingers crossed pleased!

How is your week going? I’m in the mood to blast some festive tunes, what’s your favourite?

adaisychaindream (and celebs) love Black Score Tees

I’m a sucker for a printed white vest so when these fantastic slogan emblazoned ones dropped in to my inbox I felt compelled to share.

Bought to you by Black Score, a label created by Simeon Farrar who has featured on the blog before now these tees cost £35 and new designs are released every few months meaning the slogans will be relevant to what’s going on in the world.

Perfect to be dressed down with skinny jeans and a leather jacket it’s no wonder that celebs such as Lydia Bright and Cara Delevigne are loving these. My personal favourite is the “totes jel of my Chanel?” but I would happily wear any of them.

What do you think? Hit me with your best slogans to put on a vest…Maybe we could start a blogger collection?

Dressing it down.

Jumper c/o Boden, Oasis jeans, New Look boots, Naive Melodies necklace

Last week I showed how I wore this Boden jumper for work and declared it the “perfect” knit. Over the weekend I decided to dress it down and test it’s versatility. Paired with my faithful Oasis jeans (which I am slowly filling out), my new New Look boots and favourite cat lady necklace I declare it a success; this knit goes with everything. Boden may be out of my usual budget but when something can be worn in multiple ways I don’t mind spending more. I think I shall making buying quality over quanity a rule for next year, I really lack a good set of staples and I can’t wait to play with this jumper more and discover further combinations.

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday, half way through my week off which is much needed and much appreciated! Braved Christmas shopping crowds yesterday with best friend and Mum and survived unscathed…I think being fuelled by a Wetherspoons lunch certainly helped and I do find being on crutches stops the crowds being quite so swarmy. Today I’m getting a much needed hair cut. I’m considering straying away from red hair for a while, toying with the idea of a deep pinky/purple but really, I don’t know. I get these mad urges to drastically change it for a while but soon get bored. What do you think?

Are you done with Christmas shopping yet? I literally have two gift cards left to get and some wrapping paper and I can call myself finished.

Festive Finds for Men: Foxhall

Foxhall London, the new modern British menswear label, this week announces the launch of its inaugural store, in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials in London.

The Foxhall collection is clean, considered, and contemporary – offering a functional, modern wardrobe for purposeful urban men. Styles are versatile, easy to understand and wear, but with contemporary shapes and sharp detailing.

Inspired by the energy of London’s legendary Pleasure Gardens – the decadent playground of the capital based in Vauxhall from 1661 to 1859 – Foxhall is intelligent design responding to modern London life.

The design approach has flowed from observing how modern metropolitan men progress through their London week: the activity they need to be dressed for; the transitions from day to night, smart to casual, week to weekend; and how they travel from place to place.

If, like me you find shopping for the men in your life a challenge then I recommend you take a look at Foxhall’s festive offerings. I love the clean cut designs and classy feel…
