Banana Girl

I’m not entirely sure why I am posting this outfit other than to prove I do slob around sometimes! This was from Thursday morning which was bitterly cold and I am in fact rocking a thermal vest and long johns underneath the jeans and jumper.
This will forever remain my feel good jumper (c/o Qcumber), I don’t think it’s possible to be down and out when wearing such a cheerful piece. Qcumber have just launched some amazing hats too…I think this one is fantastic!
The jeans I’m wearing are from Bershka, picked up super cheap at some point. It’s nice to finally be able to wear them/fill them out, although somewhat disconcerting at times. I have a thing for ripped jeans but this time of year really does call for either long socks or thermals underneath; blue knees are never in style!
On my feet I have FINALLY squished on my converse, I’m not sure it was worth the discomfort but it felt good to be reunited.

Do you have a feel good piece of clothing?

twinkle twinkle

Somehow the only photos I got last night were on instagram so excuse the not so good quality! By the time I got away from work at 5:30 I was so ready to glam up and get my party ON! I’d had my outfit planned for some time: Ax Paris dress (c/o and a winner the second it arrived). Metallic tights from New Look, Patent black and gold flats from Matalan (not seen) and my Topshop cat ears which attracted most of the attention!

It was a really good night, I work with the most amazing people and they know how to party! I may have disgraced myself a little at the end by switching from gin and tonic to red wine from the bottle but it seemed a great idea at the time!

I think the only downside was getting utterly drenched on the walk from the carpark to the venue, being on the crutches meant I couldn’t hold up an umbrella…thank goodness for hand dryers and hair that finally dries as I want it to without much prompting.

Sorry to the folk I randomly started texting, making less and less sense…I don’t drink often, that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Have you had your party yet? What did you get up to?

I’m fortunate never to have realllly embarrassed myself at one but I’d love to know if you have!

Up the Amp

Another one of those outfits where I need to get used to things fitting differently…it’s not easy but I am starting to appreciate a healthier body and accept that I still have a way to go until I reach my personal goal so my body may change further still. I’ve given up being scared, this is an adventure and can only lead to bigger and better things.

I love this dress, £16 well spent in Matalan last year I think. Worn with posh (but cheap) Calvin Klein tights and Georgia Rose boots c/o Sarenza.

The mug shot is to demonstrate that I FINALLY got round to sorting my hair colour out, goodbye roots! They were pretty shameful! I’ve also really got in to lipstick lately and last week picked up Up the Amp from MAC which I’ve worn pretty much non-stop since. If anyone has any lipstick suggestions for me then feel free to say so!

Thank you for the foot well wishes, it wasn’t the best of news and I have more waiting to do and more time on the crutches until we get a solution but I’m not going to let it get me down. Not now. That was the “old” Laura…the one who wasn’t really me.
It’s the work Christmas party tonight and I think I will spend my lunch break hunting down some battery operated fairy lights so string around the sticks…they’ll go quite nicely with my planned outfit…may as well turn myself in to a walking novelty!

Happy Friday folks,
we’ve gone and completed another week! How has it been for you?

Daisy Chain Dreaming: House of Harlow 1960

I’m quite glad that the latest launch from House of Harlow 1960 won’t be hitting the shops until January, there is just too much I want and I need to save! Top of my list wishlist is that fabulous Aztec Bangle, set to retail around the £50 mark. I would say no to the Pearl Talon ring either…nor the engraved Triangle necklace and earrings…

oh who am I trying to kid? I need a lottery win and the entire collection.

Tartan. Again.

I’m not sure what it is with me and tartan this winter but I am loving it. This dress, bought from this lovely lady’s blog has to be one of my favourite purchases, I was planning to save it for Christmas day but it calls to me whenever I open my wardrobe. It also happens to be the perfect partner for my Yull Chelsea Boots which are hands down my most worn shoes ever and money well spent!

So glad this crazy week is coming to an end, after today I will be in full on festive mode (be warned) and ready to embrace the spirit of the season. I’m aware I’ve been a little bit grumpy lately, it’s not the easiest time of year for many people, something about Christmas seems to throw up a multitude of emotions and the dark, long days don’t help…but we’re survivors folk and we’re going to get through. I have a good feeling about 2013, I’m determined to make it the year I succeed.

I’m finding out later today if I can finally ditch the crutches, please keep everything crossed, I’m longing to get some independence back (and it’s a step closer to walking in heels again!)

Never stop believing it.
