Potential Party Dresses Part 2: Ax Paris

purple prom dresses

I promised a party themed weekend (despite no parties) and I’ve delivered…this is my second potential Christmas Party dress and it comes c/o Ax Paris who have THE most amazing range of dresses I’ve seen in a long time and pocket friendly prices. This particular number costs £35 and I think it wins as favourite over yesterdays dress for being so damn flattering and floaty. My purple loving friend Ellie has already fallen in love and is buying her own after I loaned her this one to wear to a wedding next weekend…it really is a dress for everyone and every occassion.

Where have you seen the best dresses lately? What style are you after? I never really know until I see it, my only rule being “no bodycon”

This may be a short lived post series as I think I’ve found “the one”…thanks Ax Paris, thank you very much! I can’t wait to be able to team it with some killer heels rather than squishing my feet in to semi flats and still being in agony!

How has your weekend been going? I had the ideal Saturday, spent shopping with my Mum and then chilling at Ellie’s…who needs bars and pubs when you have quality viewing such as Take me Out and X factor?

Phase Eight Blogger Party Outfit Challenge

This week I received an e-mail from Phase Eight inviting me to take part in their Blogger Party Outfit Challenge with the chance to win a £250 voucher to spend in store. It was quite timely really with my current obsession with the shop and also my party themed posts…you can see my entry above with the vital details below…

1. The Dress: I chose the Lorabelle Sequin Dress at £130. I’m bearing an office night out in mind for this post and I wanted something striking but not too revealing. The classic shift shape of this dress combined with killer blue sequins to make a statement makes this dress perfect. I am loving the perfect blue shade too, it reminds me of fairy lights for some reason…

2. I wanted to keep jewellery simple with such a standout dress and although Phase Eight deem this Beaded Bracelet as a perfect casual piece (and only £12) I think it works really well as a solo accompaniment to the dress. Going without jewellery is a party no-no for me but I didn’t want to overshadow the sequins.

3. Likewise with the bag, I wanted something understated but stunning. This Beaded Clutch Bag costs £55 and is just the right side of bling. I’m a fan of silver against blue and it ties in with the colour theme quite nicely! I’m usually a big bag kind of girl but I think I can manage to squish phone, keys and cash in to this quite easily (though it may take some effort not to put it down somewhere and forget it!)

4. And finally the shoes. I have no idea how my foot will be by party season so I wanted to go for something pretty but supportive. The Edina T-Bar Platforms tone in nicely with the rest of the outfit but don’t look like they’ll leave me limping. Although they cost £110 I see these as an investment because the classic style means they can easily be dressed down for day, too.

Ok,
so I’m talking like I can afford this little lot, and if I could I would buy this in a heartbeat. There is always pressure to impress at the office do, especially when you are surrounded by high flying GPs! Fingers crossed I get lucky and can at least treat myself to the dress and shoes…

What do you think of my dream outfit? What would yours be?

P.S. Check out the Phase-Eight blog for more on this and how to enter for yourselves.

Potential Party Dresses Part 1: Chi Chi

The time has come to start thinking about festive parties (my favourite part of the season is outfit planning!). I was sent this dress by Chi Chi Clothing around the same time I was sent home on crutches and it’s been playing on my mind ever since. I’ve been itching to try it on and grab some photos and finally on Thursday I braved getting some “real” shoes on my feet and playing around.

I am so in love with this dress, navy blue is “my” colour for clothes so I’ve been told and I felt like a princess lounging around the house in this trying to stay off my foot (for the record, the shoes were agony, stupid foot). I have this earmarked as a strong contender for the work Christmas do- the maxi length and subtle sparkles mean I’ll maintain my dignity and it hides a multitude of sins; I’m unsure how much more I’ll weigh by then but I might not be feeling quite as body confident as last year!

Chi Chi has a whole host of gorgeous dresses, so if you are also starting to think about your party piece then I vote you check them out. I apologise for not showing the dress to it’s full potential, I’ve started realising lately just how shoddy and dull my outfit photos are; I’m not blessed with camera skills OR someone to take my photos for me so I make do the best I can.

What do you think of this dress? I have another beauty to showcase tomorrow and this will probably become a fairly regular feature in the run up to the big day!

Have you started thinking about your outfit yet?

Win a Pineapple tracksuit.

With the arrival of Winter comes the craving for comfy clothes for those times when you don’t fancy leaving the house but it’s too early to justify pajamas…who knows when the need for emergency chocolate/wine/cake supplies will arise?!
Enter the tracksuit (also suitable for the sporty, energetic types) and Pineapple clothing who do them better than most.

When I was younger I spent ages coveting the Pineapple clothing which was at the time stocked in Debenhams, Eventually I had enough money of my own to buy a few pieces and I was always impressed with how comfortable and well cut they were. My teenage self loved the comfortable tracksuit bottoms and hoodies and although for a while I grew out of wanting to wear them, I find myself all of a sudden craving a slouchy style for hibernation lounging (and maybe some gym trips in the new year…maybe).

Pineapple are teaming up with adaisychaindream to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a Charcoal Grey tracksuit in your choice of size…The hoodie is available in XS-L and the bottoms come in XS-M
This might seem like an odd choice of giveaway from me and I can’t explain my sudden shift in style but these really, really appeal (the desire to hide the bloated body maybe?!)

Anyway, to win all you need to do is leave a comment on this post telling me what your favourite lounge wear or gym wear consists of and leave a way for me to contact you if you win.
The giveaway will close next Friday 9th November at 7pm and the winner will be picked via random.org. Limited to UK readers only I’m afraid.

Good luck folks, trust me, this is a good ‘un! Thank you to Pineapple for offering up this prize.
