striped

Ever buy something because it’s cheap without really thinking about why it’s been reduced?! That’s kind of what happened with this Primark dress; I was attracted to the bright colours but didn’t really consider that I hate bodycon/tight anything and that it may only be a fiver, but that was a fiver better spent on other things!

Maybe though, it’s the push I needed to get out of my comfort zone, because after I wore it for a little while, I started to feel not so bad. My lunchtime I had relented and put jeans and a jumper on, but that was because it was bloody freezing and not because the dress made me feel all wrong.

Teamed, simply with black Tesco tights and Shelly’s shoes c/o Sarenza.

Waking up early on weekends tends to lead to impulsive actions, such as DIY dip dying my hair without really paying much heed to the fact I am hair hopeless. After 20 minutes I kind of came to my senses and decided to wash the bleach off, just in case. The result…subtle, not very even lighter ends…and I like it. It tones in with the red, and because my hair is wavy it hides how some parts are higher up than others and just kind of..works. My ends are a bit fried now though, they were bad to start with! I am well over-due a haircut so I might get them chopped off and then try the bleach again, with some help this time!

Enjoy a lazy Sunday folks, and spoil your Dad for father’s day! My Dad is still away, he’ll be back tomorrow though and I sent his card away with him. I’ll bake him a cake or something today and pop round to see my Grandad instead.

Hope the weekend has been great!

Daisy Chain Dreaming: Dresses at USC

It wasn’t that long ago that I last featured USC on the blog, but here they are again with another drop of amazing new arrivals, specifically drool-worthy dresses! I seem to go through phases, wherever I shop, of not seeing anything I like for weeks and then BAM, I have several lists dedicated to all kinds of cravings.

1. Abandon Valencia Lace Dress, £40

2. Abandon Winnie Print Dress, £45

3. Jolie Moi (who I’ve raved about before) Galaxy Dress, £40

4. Vero Moda Alice Dress, £35

5. Vila Paint Print Dress, £20

Oddly, I think the paint print one is my favourite, perfect for laid back weekend days like today!

Which is your favourite? Have you shopped at USC lately?

glitter princess

Zara tee (last year), Primark skirt (bought on Saturday for a bargain £3, Shoes c/o Sarenza

How stunning are these Georgia Rose shoes? I featured them on the blog a few weeks ago and couldn’t get them out of my mind! The glitter is subtle enough that they are suitable for day and the heel/platform means they are as comfortable as heels are going to get!

TGIF! Actually, this week has flown by, my parents will be back Monday (and I miss them!) and the working week is almost done. I had to come home early yesterday and head to my own doctors; an hours hanging around later and the verdict was a double ear infection; as Best Friend said, I don’t do things by halves!

How has your week been?

Selfridges Sale; my picks

Summer sale season has started, my inbox has been ambushed with “shop now” and “massive savings” type messages and I’m finding it hard to resist.

The Selfridges Womenswear Sale was one I really, really couldn’t resist and probably, out of all the sales I’ve browsed through, the only one with things I’d actually like to buy (if I could afford it) because I love them, not because they are reduced as is so often the way.

My top four picks (I don’t know why four, it just seemed like a good number!)

1. The Adventure Swimsuit by We are Handsome, £63 instead of £210 (hello saving!)

2. Beverly dress by Acne, now £95 (was £220)

3. Squiggle Hobo Bag by Vivienne Westwood, £202

4. Mandy Retrol slim leg jeans by Citizens of Humanity £75 down from £215

These pieces won’t hang around for long, and sadly I can’t afford any of them right now…but let me know if  you grab a bargain, be it from Selfridges or anywhere else…go on, you deserve it!

domesticated

Outfit: Primark skirt, New Look jumper.

After the success of the cake at work yesterday, I came home when I finished at 1pm and popped a malt loaf in the bread machine and prepared a lentil cottage pie for dinner as my Grandad came round to dine with me. Something about having the house to myself this week has turned me in to a wannabe domestic goddess…I’m even enjoying the odd bit of housework…
will it last? Well, that remains to be seen…I’m messy by nature so this is all very novel!

Off for two full days at work now, which I don’t do often with my new hours. They are my dream days though with a phlebotomy clinic in the morning and reception in the afternoon…for a few weeks I was finding work hard going, but after making a few positive changes in my life my enthusiasm and motivation seems to have come back by the bucket-load!

Happy Thursday folks, almost at the weekend!
