It’s been a funny week, in a non-funny way. Being back at work is doing me good but it all feels very surreal still. Staff sickness means I’ve done bloods every day, including today…yesterday I had my first fainter which was certainly an experience! This outfit is typical of what I’ve really been craving clothes wise; TK MAXX jumper, Next jeans, Jeffrey Campbell boots c/o Sarenza. My motivation to think about and put together outfits feels somewhat limited, partly due to the weather I think (always blame the weather)
Even though I wanted to ignore it completely, I still had some presents for my Birthday. A highlight and one I can’t wait to experiment with was a bag of Lakeland baking goodies from my Grandparents (I can’t bring myself to not say that) which included a much admired cake pop maker. Watch this space!
Other highlights included a gorgeous vase from my Brother and his girlfriend and a Pandora gift card from Best Friend (of which more will be said soon).
Mae has had a pretty good week, spoiled by having her original owners home (which was lovely despite the circumstances) she was in her element being cute, and Tuesday saw her first adventures in to the big wide world of the back garden; she’d never been outside before and it was so cute/funny to see her bunny hop, sniff and explore this new world. As soon as the weather allows we’ll be cat flap training her and getting her some more freedom; we also need to get her micro-chipped due to her refusal to wear a collar (we’ve decided her neck is too stumpy).
Well, my work uniform beckons and I’d best get moving…the long weekend is looming, and I for one am quite looking forward to catching up on some much needed sleep and spending time with my family.
What are your plans? If the weather gets better I might venture to the frankly dire attempt at a May Fair at the park opposite me. It hasn’t changed in the 25 years I’ve been alive, and that really is not a good thing!

How fabulous does this stack of sweets look? Kindly sent to me from the lovely folk at Jealous, a company that specialise in irresistible guilt-free sweets.
“What makes them so special?” I hear you ask…well; they contain nothing artificial for starters, they also contain no gelatine making them suitable for vegetarians and those following a kosher or halal diet. All of the sweets are certified by the Vegetarian Society so you can be assured they must be good! The sweets are also organic and gluten free, and there is a sugar free range available too!
Tempted? I would be! These sweets are insanely good, especially the cola bottles. If you don’t believe me and simply must try for yourself then you can find a list of stockists here or pay a visit to the online shop. What I really like is the Pick ‘n Gift section where you can make the ultimate personalised sweet gift for someone you love (and yes, that does include yourself!)
For an even sweeter deal, hop along to the jealous life facebook page, click like and score yourself 50% off your first pick ‘n gift order…
I think that’s pretty good right?

New Look skirt and tee (£7 and £3 respectivley), Dorothy Perkins tights (that Mae destroyed), Ellos boots.
What I attempted to wear yesterday, before the relentless rain meant a change of plan. This weather really isn’t helping motivate me to get on with life, I just want to curl up and read all day.
As it is, today I go back to work, with a 7:15am start to boot! I didn’t mention this before, but my 17 hours at work has been increased to 28 (including the early Wednesday surgery taking blood) which means no more relying on crazy amounts of overtime to make ends meet! Some weeks I was putting in over double my scheduled hours…this way it’s steady and I couldn’t be more delighted.
Because I’m doing a split morning; switching to reception duties at 8:30 I’m packing my change of clothes in my new backpack, sent c/o Fjӓllrӓven. I was sent the Kånken backpack, a retro, Scandinavian design that has remained unchanged since 1978 and is available in over 28 different colours so is perfect for the summer – at festivals, the beach or more every day things like, well, work! The bag costs £55, which I understand is a large outlay, but with things like backpacks I’ve found it pays to invest (I used to be a Scout, trust me I know!) and this has a fabulous pop out shape so it holds loads!
Massive thank you to Fjallraven; if you want to learn more about the brand, pop along to their website NOW!
Thank you so much to everyone for the sweet comments and general understanding over the last diffucult few weeks…honestly, it means so much to us all.

ASOS dress, Primark tights, Ellos boots. An outfit from Friday, I think.
The photo above sums up my Nan perfectly. So full of love for her family and a real sense of fun. The service yesterday was beautiful; immediate family over, short and to the point, exactly how she would have wanted it. We spent the rest of the day together, as an entire family, something that very rarely happens and when it did, Nanny was in her element. A group of us went over to the local seafront, making the most of the glorious sunshine that had broken through and did things that we did when we were much, much younger. In the evening we all went out for a meal.
There is still a sense of the surreal around it, for me, I guess I’m still in that denial stage of grief; but from today normal routines must commence, I go back to work tomorrow (complete with 7:15am start) and I guess, in time things will start to make sense.
On the work front things are great, my hours have been increased and I have my own phlebotomy sessions to do.
It’ll be back to the normal blogging routine, too, give or take. Thank goodness for the comfort of routine.
