Brain Freeze

The cold weather this week has seen me sport an array of headwear; I’m not usually a hat girl, I always feel a bit silly in them and because my hair is usually tied up they don’t sit especially well on my head…but needs must!

1. Primark earmuffs

2 + 3. Bobble hat and Faux Fur trapper hat both from New Look*

For some reason (hello inner child) I’m most attracted to novelty hats; on my wish list right now? This little beauty from River Island!

Are you a hat wearer? What type do you favour?

Totally Tribal

Oh how I love twitter, a week or so ago Katrina and I were have a pre payday browse of Matalan and fell in love with a dress; or rather, variations of the same dress. We made this fact known, because sharing is caring right? Well, the folks at Matalan certainly think so as they gifted Katrina and I the dresses so we could do a double blog post showing how we’d wear them.

I was head over heels for the tribal design, and Katrina embraced the gorgeous butterfly print. Both dresses are £20 and are available online now!

With the bold pattern, I decided to let the dress do the talking and teamed it with black tights from Tesco and my bargain New Look ankle boots. I did toy with the idea of orange/rust coloured tights, or my orange Jeffrey Campbell boots but in the end, simple won.

I can’t quite explain how much I love this dress, it’s not something I would typically be drawn to, but the combination of the sheer sleeves, bold print and the fabulous pointed collar won me over. I also love that come spring, bare legs and wedges will make just as much impact.

And how did Katrina wear hers? Well, you’ll need to pop over to her blog and find out…(and check out her giveaway whilst your there)

Which dress is your favourite? And how would YOU wear it?

black ‘n blue

Matalan dress, Primark tights, ASOS boots.

The cold weather means breaking out the over knee boots again, except they aren’t quite over knee on me and would probably look better if they weren’t so gape-y but whatever, I can layer long socks under them and no-one can tell!

How is it Friday already? Speediest week ever. Fact. We finally got paid yesterday, much to everyone’s relief but I’m not sure I see shopping on my weekend forecast; epic hibernation is more likely to occur. It’s been one of those weeks that has given me my sparkle back, a few good days at work; taking bloods, solving problems and generally feeling useful really helps.

How has your week been? Do you have exciting weekend plans? I’m just going to bide my time and see if anything last minute pops up!

Summer Loving at Matalan

It’s hard to picture what you’ll be wearing in Spring/Summer whilst the weather is so bitterly cold (although at the same time it brings about hope that warmer times are coming)

I couldn’t resist sharing some of my favourite upcoming pieces from one of my absolute favourite shops, Matalan…you’ll find some instore/online now, and the rest will be coming soon!

The yellow floral dress and the bright orange number above are top of my list…and although I rarely post about homewares, Matalan never fail to draw me in with their gorgeous (and affordable) finishing touches!

Have you checked any of this out yet? What will you be buying? With Matalan’s bargainous prices I see not reason not to buy the lot!
