Think Pink

I tweeted a few days ago that I couldn’t resist the lure of Zara. I’ve been after some bright trousers for a while now [oh yes, a fully fledged trouser convert] and with the encouragement of my friends [we only went out for coffee, not spending!] I purchased these hot pink ones for £19.99. They come in a tempting array of colours; blue, green and I think, orange too. I might get another pair or two, I know Mum wants the green ones, we could collect them all!

I’ve never actually bought trousers in Zara before. I’ve always been wary because their sizes come up quite small…these are such a fantastic fit I’m thinking of trying some jeans there next.

Worn with another recent purchase…over-sized cardigan from ASOS. Come back Summer warmth.

as you can see, I still haven’t worked out my camera settings!

Continuing on the pink theme…HELLO KITTY cereal, it’s actually PINK! Found by my gorgeous girl Leanne in poundland!

Dry cereal is the way forwards!

Flash was feeling the pink too, he didn’t move off my bed all day!

Well, the long weekend is officially over and I’ve given up my day off to go in to work. Dedication! As someone who thrives on being busy, I’m secretly relieved although it means I don’t get to see Becca until the weekend [sorry Becca!]

Are you back to work too?

What is your favourite cereal? I am OBSESSED!

Pullin Pants

Firstly a massive apology to tights please for the delay in getting this post up. You see, when I volunteered to review a pair of Spanx, I didn’t really think it through and for someone who struggles with their body image badly, the idea of seeing what I *could* be, whilst trying to accept myself for who I am caused a bit of a battle.
In the end my Mum stepped in, all too eager to get her hands on the package that arrived…and so here we are, almost a week later with a joint effort review!

Spanx power panties are the ultimate Waist Cincher aiming to give an all over smoother look and pull you in where it matters most.
What we liked most was the cycling shorts design, more substantial than body shaping tights and discreet enough to wear under a flimsy skirt in place of a slip (a real selling point for Mum). The extensive size guide made it easy to get the perfect fit and unlike some support wear, they were easy to get on and off.

Now, the before and after shots. Mum doesn’t need anything in the way of Waist Cincher support so you don’t get the best example of how great these are.

Before

Photobucket

This is a skirt she never wears due to it’s clingy and unforgiving nature.

After

Photobucket

VERY impressed with the smooth finish these gave. She’s stashed them away far from my reach so she can wear the skirt more often.

We would definitely opt for Spanx again, they certainly live up to the hype surrounding their name.

If you want to give these a try you’ll find them available on Tights Please (a.k.a. Laura’s personal heaven)

Ants on my cake.

I finally got a chance to bake yesterday; it’s been a while due to adjusting to my new work schedule. I’d promised my Dad a Birthday cake and after thinking for a while about what to do compared to previous years I settled on one that features his favourite creature…Ants (the story of which is long and complicated and involves great theories).

I normally bake from scratch, but after seeing these Mary Berry cake mixes on special offer in Waitrose (and Marry Berry being my baking idol) I deemed them worthy of trying and bought one of each flavour.
I used to chocolate fudge flavour for Dad’s cake.

I cannot recommend these mixes enough, really. So quick and simple and the results were amazing! They also come with their own baking tray for the perfect size/thickness of cake!

The additions.

Result! Happy Birthday Dad!

And as a “bonus” here is what I wore yesterday. The jumper was a recent purchase from New Look, at only £6 in the sale it was a no brainer.

Enjoy the last day of the Bank Holiday weekend! I hope it’s been a good one. What did you get up to? Any May Fairs near you? I might venture to our local one later.

Cut Down Challenge

Normally a press release for an electronic cigarette would pass me buy. Destined for the “trash” file of my inbox with not so much as a second thought. This time however, I stopped. I thought, and replied.

I’ve been thinking of quitting smoking for a while now. I don’t like that I smoke, I’ve stopped enjoying it as much. It has got even more expensive than it already was, and I work at a doctors surgery…surely I should be setting an example?

I don’t think I’m 100% ready for the big quit yet…at least, not cold turkey. I want to cut down first, do it gradually; and so when this e-mail appeared I decided to take a deep breath (as deep as a smokers lungs will allow) and start my mission.

Electronic Cigarettes provide smokers with the nicotine hit they crave without any of the harmful side effects of lit tobacco. E-cigs eradicate the 4000 chemicals smokers are exposed to every time they inhale on a traditional cigarette. No tar, no carbon monoxide, just nicotine. The key to why e cigarettes are becoming increasingly popular amongst smokers, is that they replicate the action of smoking so closely. Most smokers realise that the addiction is not just nicotine, but also the habitual aspect of smoking. With a carefully developed tobacco taste, and the inhalation of an actual vapour, Nicolites Electronic Cigarettes completely replicates the action of smoking. Users even exhale an odourless, harmless water vapour to complete a real smoking experience. This whole process is completely harmless yet provides that real smoking satisfaction.

Nicolites Disposable: At Nicolites we recognise that people have different smoking habits. With this in mind we have created a range of different products. Our Nicolite Disposable Electronic Cigarettes are ready to use straight off the shelf, and requires no change in habit as it replicates a smokers ‘box of 20.’ Each one lasts for approximately 25 traditional cigarettes before being disposed of. They require no charging, and are ideal for those smokers that are always on the go. At such an affordable price they also present the perfect opportunity for smokers to try the concept of an electronic cigarette, and test how well they really work.

I’m not fully sold on electronic cigarettes. I can see it becoming one crutch in place of another; but out of curiosity and willingness to be proved wrong, over the next week I am going to see how effective the sample I was provided with proves.

Next Sunday you can expect a run-down of my trials and tribulations in kicking the nicotine habit. I’m hoping to have drastically cut my cigarette consumption and I have ordered an NHS quit smoking pack with a view to the next step!

Wish me (and those around me) luck. My intention for the electronic cigarette is for it to be an emergency backup, to quite simply not buy as many normal cigarettes and to have it to hand for emergency situations…I smoke for anxiety relief, mostly, and don’t want to land myself in a mess until I’ve developed a new, healthier anxiety fighting habit.

Have you ever used an electronic cigarette? How did you get on?

If you have quit smoking, what helped you most?

Weekend Wear

Saturdays were made for cute tees. I’m thinking Sunday might be heading in the same direction.

Photobucket

Thank you thank you thank you Trudi. This tee is all my casual wear dreams come true!

(Sorry about the photo, I’m not used to my new camera yet)

I am also a fan of weekend breakfasts. Un-pictured is the coffee I downed in one.

Today is a quiet day I think. I need to bake a Birthday cake for my Dad, and that’s about it. I’m still recovering from the horror that was work on Thursday (not to metion I’ve been drafted in for Tuesday; my normal day off).

BUT! My mystery present from my parents?! A BIKE!

What does your weekend breakfast look like?

Hopefully next time I post the photo quality will be somewhat better; I’m almost too ashamed to post these!
