DAS

When someone awesome named Amy e-mails you to share a brand she thinks you’ll love, you know you are on to a winner….

Last week a message dropped in to my inbox introducing me to DAS, who are launching in Harrods this week. A fairly new label, DAS only started in 2008, started by two sisters who create classic and feminine abayas as shown at London Fashion Week SS12, featured on Vogue and worn by Olivia Palermo and Amber le Bon.

I think it’s fair to say Amy has good taste, and that I am a little bit in love…that blue dress? those leggings? just divine. One to watch, for sure!

those winter blues

River Island dress with collar, New Look tights and Georgia Rose c/o Sarenza competition boots.

I was in two minds about whether this dress was actually decent to be worn in public; the curse of being tall strikes once again. I hadn’t even intended to buy anything except a gift when I popped in to River Island in the Bull Ring, but oh, this blue, I fell head over heels (the £10 off tag may have helped swing it) and I grabbed it without giving much of a second thought.

I’m normally a girl who likes to be outside the confines of her house (I say my house, I mean my parents), but lately I haven’t wanted to leave it…the cold, the wind, the “is it snow/is it rain?” makes me long for a day where I can stay under the duvet. I think I mentioned before, that I do suffer from SAD and that I do struggle at this time of year, and I would like to apologise, in advance really, if I do get annoyingly negative on twitter and facebook…and to once again thank you all for the support you have given. I think the blogging/social media network is truly wonderful for anyone who is having a hard time of things, and I would say don’t be afraid to reach out, ever.

How are the Christmas preparations going? I’ve now finished the shopping, written the cards and wrapped most of the presents…all I need now is my Dad to put the tree and decorations up, and the festive songs blaring and I’m ready to roll.

put a ring on it

Dear Santa,

I know, I know…this is letter number 215 I have written you this year, but I promise I have been a really, really good girl and I would love you forever if you could arrange for this divine “Bessie” ring (£115) from awesome jeweller Jane Gowans to be gift wrapped under the tree.

Actually, anything from Jane’s website would be amazing…

Ever Hopeful,

Laura

"red shoes no knickers"

There is, to me, something quite irresistible about red shoes. When I was younger my Mum tried to put me off with this random saying (thanks Claire for jogging my memory!) and for a while, it worked.
These Irregular Choice shoes were part of my Sarenza haul and between the deep red colour and the girlish bow on the front, I just *had* to have them.

Worn with an outfit entirely from Primark (those £5 jumpers wash really well, for anyone wondering) with a couple of cardigans added once I realised how utterly freezing it has become outside.

Mondays at work never change; it’s why I have Tuesday as my day off; to recover!
