dressing in the dark

Back to work,
back to taking photos whilst it’s still dark outside. Wearing Matalan skirt (£5 in the sale!) and Next Jumper.
Finally got round to colouring my hair yesterday. No more roots, and a slightly darker shade for the slightly darker time of year.

Other weekend activities included an overdose of bad TV, adventures in Chutney making and not a lot else!

Happy Monday

Giveaway here.

A Natural Giveaway from iHerb

About a month ago now a couple of parcels from online health superstore iHerb landed on my doorstep containing a new range of all natural body and hair products from madre labs.

The entire range carries a “no no-nos” meaning that they contain No sulfates, parabens, dyes, animal ingredients and animal testing and the product is also very eco-friendly and uses biodegradable ingredients.

My thoughts on the range, on the whole are very good. The shampoos, despite not foaming due to the lack of everything bad smelt INCREDIBLE and left my hair super clean and supersoft…something that doesn’t always happen when I use something I’ve picked up in one of the local shops. The tangerine scented leave in conditioner  is something I now won’t do without. It keeps my dry, unruly hair in check without weighing it down, or making it greasy and the smell reminds me of summer days (always a bonus at this time of year!)

I can’t find enough words of praise for the bodycare range. The entire lot is un-scented which suits me perfectly. I have super sensitive and super dry skin, and a phobia of the feel of anything greasy, meaning I don’t moisturise as often as I should.
The handcream especially has become a bit of a daily staple, which speaks volumes about how much I love a product and my hands are often neglected due to over-perfumed and over greasy products. This sinks in so fast and leaves my hands so soft I can’t imagine life without it!

I wish I had my own label so I could add a “daisychain approved” sticker to these products. I’m not a beauty blogger by any means, hence the somewhat wonky review, but I know what I like and I know how damn fussy I am (my beauty cupboard being  a graveyard to once used and discarded products).

The only place you can get these products is via iHerb who ship internationally at very, very reasonable rates. I’m a long time customer of theirs for food products, and now beauty.
If you want to make an order, you can get $5 off your first purchase using  ARU539,

And this brings us to the details for the GIVEAWAY!!!!
The winner gets a box full of all the products mentioned here. This is a value of $88 USD. This giveaway is open to US and International residents. If the winner is outside the US, they are responsible for any duty or customs charges.

Lusting after; Tasty Cream

Once upon a time, well over a year ago now I did a series of posts featuring fabulously printed leggings from Black Milk whilst bemoaning the fact that no-where in the UK even came close.

Although I’ve somewhat toned down my style these days, I was utterly delighted to be e-mailed by genius Michael Rowland about his label, Tasty Cream and his range of latex fashion including leggings to make every addict weep tears of joy.

A few words from the man himself:

“I have been working with latex since 2006. Showing some of my latex dress designs meant I was able to acquire a place at the biggest latex design company located in London from 2009-2011, where we produced customized items for many well-known celebs such as Lady Gaga.
As you probably know latex is appearing more, and even more commonly.
Topshop had a trial run on their latex collection last year, which I have been informed was a great success, and they will be bringing back in the near future. However the collection had been sourced  from a low quality manufacturer and was priced very high.

So my aim with Tasty Cream is not only to bring latex presented in a ‘wear out’ way, but to provide a constant new look, partly by sourcing ‘modern look’ materials. I have only started working with elastane-based materials (shown on my site) from last year but find them much easier to work with than latex!

All garments are hand made with a lot of care, and I make sure the fabrics sourced are; safe, of an excellent quality, and look/feel good. I think the great thing about the high-waisted leggings/shorts on my site at the moment is that they can be combined with a lot of garments most girls have in their wardrobes, resulting in a stunning and a highly impacting outfit without even much effort”

If a genie could grant me three wishes from Michael’s designs they would be the above…

American Beauty, £43, Latex Dream leggings, £60 and Starstruck, £42.

What do we think folks? I remember a LOT of love for my previous crazy leggings posts…

I say “watch this space”, Tasty Cream is taking over.

more floral, more tights.

I was determined to give this floral Zara dress an airing before it turned really, really cold but my timing was somewhat off, and of course it spent most of the day hidden under layers. Still, I knew I was wearing it, and that’s what counts right? Teamed with New Look tights and JC boots via Sarenza.

And so this marks my last outfit post of my week off, today is windy and grey so jeans and baggy knitwear is planned. Over this weekend I have a few exciting posts to share, including a giveaway and a very special collection of leggings. Watch this space…
