All That Glitters

Maybe it’s the un-deniable fact that the festive season is fast approaching, or perhaps it’s my inner five year old escaping, but lately I’ve been obsessed with all things glittery…

Top, £12.99 Missguided

Shoes, £50 Asos

Nail Polish, £16 House of Fraser

Boots (of dreams), fartooexpensive Stanwells

Brooch, £33 Urban Outfitters

What are you obsessed with right now?

Glitter…yay or nay? I simply must own some sparkly shoes!

An Apple a Day

My favourite Monsoon Fusion dress, worn to death since being purchased last summer. Picked by Alex as the perfect outfit to show support for my work place’s patient participation group at a local health awareness day.

Sadly, I think the time has come to wave goodbye to short sleeves, this outfit required extensive cardigan layering for most of the day.

Another Kind of Bra Fairy

So, the other day I posted about my visit from a Bra Fairy…and now I’m posting about how you can BE a Bra Fairy by supporting luxury lingerie retailer Rigby & Peller with their bra recycling scheme.

Rigby & Peller is calling on women across the UK to recycle their old bras in support of Breast Cancer Care. From 4th to 31st October for every bra that you recycle you receive £10 off per bra that you purchase from the extensive range including the stunning new Autumn / Winter 2011 collection and mastectomy range.

With a donation of £1 for every 10 recycled bras going to Breast Cancer Care, the scheme is one that is close to founder, Mrs. June Kenton’s heart as a fellow breast cancer survivor. It was this experience that inspired Rigby & Peller’s development of a dedicated range with aspecialised fitting service for mastectomy sufferers and prosthesis.

Mrs. June Kenton, comments: “This is our fourteenth year supporting Breast Cancer Care as a cause that is very dear to me personally and many other women across the UK. We hope that this initiative helps to raise awareness and funds for the cause whilst highlighting the sensitivities around body confidence that sufferers often feel. At Rigby & Peller we understand these sensitivities and pride ourselves on an unparalleled fitting service by highly experienced fitters, whether you are one of the 80% of British women wearing the wrong bra size or a mastectomy sufferer.”

To help support Breast Cancer Care, visit one of the seven Rigby & Peller stores with your old bras to receive £10 towards any new bra purchase. Visit http://www.rigbyandpeller.com/ for more information and store locations.

Sadly I don’t live near to a store and won’t be able to participate, but if you do I urge you to show your support.

Spotlight on: Zazu!

It’s no secret that I love to shop, and my absolute favourite type of shopping is buying gifts from other people. I’m always on the look out for independent gift shops to support, so when Chloe from Zazu Jewellery got in touch I was more than happy to oblige.

A bit of background information taken from the website:

“Zazu Jewellery was created by designer maker Chloe Mabey back in 2009. After years of making jewellery she decided to take the leap and turn it into a business.

The jewellery which is all hand crafted features a wide range of semi precious stones, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystal. The end result is a pretty piece of jewellery designed to be worn everyday and eventually to be passed down through your family.
Although a lot of Chloe’s skills are self taught she trained as a jeweller for two years to create unique sterling silver pieces of jewellery.
As all of the items on the site are individually made adjustments and customisations can be made. We also take on commission work which is perfect if you want a one of a kind jewellery item”

The jewellery designs are all beautiful and affordable, making for a unique gift. Chloe sent me a selection of their range of cards, which all feature the same beads used to make the jewellery, replicated in quirky photographic prints. She also popped in a little pocket mirror made with the fabulous star print. The parcel came wrapped in the most luxirious quality gift wrap too, which you can also buy, but it my excitement I tore it beyond redemption (FAIL Laura!)
The cards cost £1.80 each, or a pack of postcards (5) costs £2.50. The giftwrap costs £1.10 per sheet. I think this is pretty damn good considering what you pay in highstreet card shops these days, and I know where I’d rather my money went to!

I can’t wait to see more from Chloe, I know she has plans to expand in to mugs, tote bags, note books and planners…
what would you like to see?

Do you prefer to support smaller businesses? What do you think of Zazu, and where are your favourite places to buy gifts online? (feel free to promote your own shop!)

Keeping it Simple

Inspired by this post by Fritha, I remembered I owned this simple Peter Pan collar dress..my must have Peacocks purchase from early in the year. Worn with black tights and my trusty Yull Chelsea boots, sometimes simplicity really is the answer.
Happy Friday Folks,
we made it!
