In perfect contrast to everything I’ve been craving for A/W this year, when an e-mail dropped in my inbox from Goodfibres I became smitten with their quirky prints and sound ethics.
“With over 45 designs, there’s a t-shirt out there to suit everyone. Made from 100% cotton, all the materials are ethically sourced, and are eco-sensitive. Goodfibres t-shirts are edgy, unique, and are sure to add something a little bit different to your outfit.
Choose a fitted t-shirt for a stylish daytime look, or if you’re having a casual day, try the more relaxed ‘boyfriend’ fit t-shirt. If you’re chilling out at home or want something super comfy to wear in bed, why not try a ‘bedtime’ t-shirt? The cotton will still allow your skin to breathe at night-time whilst keeping you warm on cooler winter nights.
The designs on every shirt are curated and created by artists, so by wearing a Goodfibres t-shirt you’re actually wearing a piece of their artwork. Goodfibres is all about championing the artist, so in addition to placing the artists’ name on each creation, every designer keeps the rights to their artwork, and also receives 10% of the proceeds on each sale.
Finally, Goodfibres wants to put something back into the community, so for every t-shirt sold, Goodfibres will match the purchase by donating to a community in need
I was told I could pick a design to style, and was instantly drawn to The Owl and the Pussycat for it’s almost tribal feel + childhood memories it triggered (I read it, endlessly). I opted for a boyfriend fit for an oversized, weekend feel and sported it on Saturday.
Knowing my t-shirt fussiness I was worried I’d wear this once, for the blog, then discard it to my sleepwear drawer. This couldn’t be further from the truth, with good quality, soft cotton and just the right thickness, this well make a regular appearance in my weekend wardrobe and I look forward to styling it in different ways.
The following sealed the deal:
1. We ethically manufacture all of our clothing – It’s always fair wear and ethically sourced to help the communities that create it
2. We respect our artists – We pay 10% royalties for every sale and artists always maintain the rights to their work
3. We match every purchase – For each shirt we sell, we donate a shirt to someone less fortunate. We also aim to support other non-profits that are working to make the world a better place.
Have you heard of Goodfibres before? I think some more artistic than myself bloggers should submit some artwork so I can build up a massive collection of awesome tees!
